Pitney, Gene - (I Wanna) Love My Life Away Lyrics

Yeah I want to love my life away
I wanna love my life away
I wanna love, love, love
Love my life away with you

I want your hugging in the morning
All your kissin' late at night
I want your sweet talk in the sunshine
And holding my hand in the moonlight

Cos I wanna love my life away
I wanna love my life away
I wanna love, love, love
Love my life away with you

Yes we're gonna let the world and all of its troubles
Go right on-a spinning by
We're gonna build one dream upon another
Clear up to the sky

Cos I wanna love my life away
I wanna love my life away
I wanna love, love, love
Love my life away with you

I keep you warm in the winter
Give you cool, cool kisses in the summertime
Walk by your side in the autumn
And in spring bells will chime

Cos I wanna love my life away
I wanna love my life away
I wanna love, love, love
Love my life away with you

[fading]
Yeah I want to love my life away

What a giant in the music industry. His countless hits and his success in writing for so many greats.

  21. L.... F....

A great oldie!! I miss these types of songs today.

    L.... F....

    You're not alone.

  22. S.... ....

With a voice like Gene's, you gotta love everything he sings!

    S.... ....

Hi Susie! I do love everything he sings my favourite being "Every Breath I Take" closely followed by "Half Heaven, Half Heartache", "Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart", "Tower Tall", "Walk", "If I Only Had Time". Love the way he harmonises with his own voice in "Blue Colour". Also love Gene and George Jones singing country. The Youtube clips showing a young dynamic Gene singing in Italian are worth a watch, especially "E Se Domani".

    S.... ....

This is just a tremendous debut song by one of the great artists of the 1960s. There's a lot of music here in only 1:58.

  23. p.... m....

Some very good tracks here but why have we got to have "ads" after almost every track, I am sure I am not the only Doo-wop fan
that finds this very off putting I cant get to the skip ad button fast enough yes ads pay for the site but there is far too many to enjoy
here for me it is a one off listen as I will not be coming back !!

  24. R.... P....

    Gene and Bobby V

Just like a lot of you on here, this is also my favorite song of his. He had a voice that was unmatched!

  30. R.... F....

This was my favorite song by Gene, I know he had many more good ones also. May He R.I.P.

    R.... F....

It is my favorite song of his too. So melodic!

  31. e.... ....

One of the best and one of the most underrated stars of the early 1960s I loved so many of his recordings and I will never forget them or the memories they bring to mind from my youth in the Bronx RIP Gene, Vaya con Dios

    e.... ....

    underrated?

  32. d.... ....

TYPICAL 60s SOUND ... with the background vocals !
In France, the singers of the 60s were called " Les yéyés " because of the " Yeah " sound in a lot of their songs ...
That " Yeah " sound had come from England ... with the British Invasion !
    Sept 14.

    d.... ....

    @Stephen Mortimer
    Well ... maybe ... I wasn't here to say ...
And with Elvis Presley too ?
Elvis Presley surely is the most famous American singer in France !
But being French, I can say that American singers and music did NOT impress the French as much as the Anglo-Saxon ones !!!
    C'est comme ça ...
ce sont les Beatles et les Stones qui ont envahi la France au début des années 60 !!!

    d.... ....

    WRONG !!!

    d.... ....

    @Vern Smith ???

    d.... ....

damecouleur Strange when French singers were recording French versions of English-language songs from America. When the Beatles first toured France, they were viewed suspiciously by the French media.

    d.... ....

Steven, stop it with the crap. Foolish argument. Live and let live.

  33. A.... H....

    What a brilliant song!

  34. f.... t....

great music, never again will songs n ingers like gene, Johnny Crawford, ricky nelson, everly bros,  dion, I could go on , but thanks, oldies thanks n aloha

    f.... t....

Came the British Musical Invasion and they were swept away.

  35. G.... M....

    A singer and superb .......

  36. S.... ....

All thumbs up for this great song !!!

    S.... ....

A homemade demo released as a single

  37. t.... f....

I graduated from high school in 1966 ( the season of the witch ). Gene Pitney, Del Shannon & Neil Diamond (in that Order) were the men who sang the songs of My Love for Girls. No, I didn't forget Roy ( not Rogers ) nor Ricky; Both of them stand apart and alone. The "Boss" said all that could be said about " The Man in Wayfarers and the Iron Cross at his neck ". It wasn't till Jackson Browne made the scene did the mantle pass. All I ever wanted to do was " Love My Life Away" Oh I almost forgot: Graham Parsons.

  38. 1.... ....

    Best G P song I think

  39. A.... H....

popular the year i graduated from high school

  40. l.... ....

if this was released in 1966 would have been a huge hit.

  41. S.... ....

Gene Pitney - One of the rock n' roll greats!

  42. K.... M....

i had tickets to see him but he died...kept the tickets and memories.

    K.... M....

Was and still is one of my favourite pop singers of the sixties.

  43. R.... L....

a song for you ,special lady

  44. D.... ....

    so short :(

  45. S.... P....

just one more reason 1960 was the best year ever for music!

  46. S.... ....

Gene had one of the greatest voice I've ever heard! My mother, may she R.I.P. loved his music!

    S.... ....

Never got the credit he deserved.

  47. p.... p....

thanks for posting - to my mind the best recording of Gene - reason being that Gene is lying low and sounds a bit Sedakian who was big at about the same time. Maybe Gene just wanted to show that he is just as good as Sedaka and thensome

  48. O.... ....

Who slipped and accidently gave this song a thumbs down?

  49. G.... E....

I turned 14 in 1961.This song is over 50 years old.I remember it well.Didn't know it was Gene Pitney till 1991.That's over 20 years ago.Time marches on.

  50. i.... ....

One of my all-time, all-time favorites. I was 15 when this came out. Gene Pitney was absolutely sensational. RIP Gene.

  51. c.... a....

Thanks for posting cool sound and great words. Gene was awesome.Cheers, Shari

  52. R.... V....

ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER RECORDED.

    GENE PITNEY, R.I.P.

  53. S.... ....

    i love it

  54. K.... B....

Great oldie I haven't heard for yrs

  55. M.... A....

    Artist with Greatest Voice

  56. P.... B....

I bought my first record player second hand when I was 13 yrs of age ...it came with 40 records and I purchased it from a elderly lady I knew..I payed 20$ for it one of the albums That came with the 40 records was Gene Pitney's greatest hits ..that was in 1963.. I stillI still have the album and the other 39 also My records have gone into the new age and transformed onto cd's courtesy of a friend..I since then have discovered a device I can plug into my cigarette lighter and take them with me

  57. u.... ....

the only thing wrong with this song is that it's too short.

  58. S.... W....

@Ezdduf4kuZ I always considered him the best but considering the times, he had tons of competition....today I think he would swept all before him...Frankly there aren't many in his range of talent and voice.....Imagine someone today that could buck up aganist Orbison and make a run....its no competition but I am still finding Pitney songs I haven't heard and now I see he did many songs in German and Italian....nice large body of work includes songs he wrote for others....he is still great

  59. M.... M....

i have heard alot of gene Pitney tributes...and nothings better than listening to Gene...sorry dont mean to offend anybody...but you know who you are and, need to go back to studing the mans style.....or stay at home...this guy here cant be copied!!!
    not yet any way!!!!!!!!

  60. s.... ....

@LuccaBB1 He has an Ango-Saxon name, but he looks Sicilian. What is with that? A junior college classmate of mine went on a date with him.

  61. s.... ....

    @Ezdduf4kuZ Caliber. Calibre. Excalibur.

  62. 3.... ....

Amazing!!! One of my all time fave singers. I was 9!! So glad I discovered music was the way to my heart -- early on....RIP Gene...:-(

  63. T.... ....

One of my favorites but then almost all his songs were my favorites lol Can't get enough of this voice.

  64. e.... z....

@cafe9802 I agree it's a chart topper, but according to the stats given by the sender it barely made it inside the top 40. What was stopping it from going top 10, that much one would expect from a song of this calibur. I suppose crying by roy orbison took gene's place on the overall rankings and that's a blooming pity. crying, a chart topper and yet. lovin' ones life away barely got a rating..how negative on behalf of the music industry!!!!

  65. b.... ....

I understand Gene also played all the instrumental tracks on this tune. A real renaissance man.

  66. J.... B....

another catchy tune by a great singer. thanks for the upload. dont get to hear artists like gene where i live in india. this is refreshing.

  67. M.... H....

Great. loved it then when I was 11 years old!

  68. D.... D....

Gene's voice was one of the most recognizable from the 1960's. I've watched one of his live performances, I think from the late-90's, here on You Tube. Even in his later years, Gene's voice hadn't changed noticeably. Just a remarkable entertainer!

  69. A.... ....

A great debut from the late great Gene Pitney. Thanks for posting this on your channel!

  70. A.... S....

Cant get enough of Gene Pitney...Love his voice!!! thanks Brent for posting
