Hmmm this song WAS MADE just over FIFTY YEARS AGO AND WAS AS AMAZING OR MORE because the sound effects achieved in the production of the album were WAY BEFORE THEIR TIME! There is no band that captured the world of the psychedelic better than The Pink Floyd” did! Too bad it came at an insane price for Syd and the band in losing his genius. 🌹🌹🎶🎤♥️✨🙏😔💎 🌈

I always love this tune now. However, when I first heard it, the middle section frightened me. I also heard it first maybe 45 years ago.

This song is a metaphor for life. The initial playful guitar represents childhood. The plodding part II is the demands of working life, and part three old age. The darkness in the North & night that is beckoning is death; but occasionally you can rest rest your aching limbs for a little bit in the memory of youth. BRILLIANT!

PINK FLOYD, had three different eras .And the music dramatically changed. But still all of it was original. telling true stories that still apply today .They sincerely played from the heart.Pink Floyds music was all extremely emotional. they were so brilliant throughout all of their history. they never gave in to the man, if you know what I mean. They never sold their souls!! They remain pure, and extremely talented !! Yes, they did break up. And as most breakups are, it was horrible.. But in the end Rodger Waters, and David Gilmour, both had some very successful albums after The Break-Up.... They were all extremely creative. And each one of them played a vital role in Pink Floyd!! Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Rick Wright, and David Gilmour, God bless you all !!
Hello. Pink Floyd, was way ahead of it's time.. With Syd Barrett, at the helm they had all of this experimental sound altering devices. Before foot pedals, and synthesizers.. Truly engenius, very original. And they always were, and are!! They did things that no other band whatever touch

Thanks, I didn't know. Bought Ummagumma in 1973 after hearing Dark Side of the Moon.
This was my favorite track. The lyrics especially brought me to a whole other world in my imagination.

I used to play this track quite a bit in the 70s / 80s, to be honest most of the studio album kinda freaked me out (still does)then again it was pretty experimental and I recall both Gilmour and Waters saying that they cannot listen to it.

I never understood why this wasn't released as a single, a bit of remixing to bring out Dave Gilmour's great vocals, love his multi tracked harmonies
It’s a masterpiece That gets stuck in your head. When a band is so talented, it’s hard to keep listening to ALL the best of it..we need more Time!
Edit: A “friend, or acquaintance of a friend” stole half of Ummagumma from my large CD case. Of course it’s The half with THIS SONG. I hope that they feel a similar emptiness one day when they are looking for one of their favorite music products. Sorry, had to blow off some very old steam. I lost this CD 💿 before my life destroying Car Accident (not my fault- rear ended by two cars 🚗 going 40...) and it reminds me of wonderful days of my life before a over a decade long health hell. I long for those stolen days and years... this song really captures a beautiful place in time. Blessings.
