Pickett, Wilson - In The Midnight Hour Lyrics

I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love comes tumbling down
I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
When there's no one else around

I'm gonna take you girl and hold you
And do all things I told you in the midnight hour
Yes I am, yes I am
One more thing I just wanna say right here

I'm gonna wait till the stars come out
And see them twinkle in your eyes
I'm gonna wait 'till the midnight hour
That's when my love begins to shine

You're the only girl I know
That can really love me so in the midnight hour
Oh yeah, in the midnight hour
Yeah, alright, play it for me one time now

I'm gonna wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love comes tumbling down
I'm gonna wait, wait 'til the midnight hour
That's when my love begins to shine, just, you and I
Oh baby just, you and I
Nobody around baby, just, you and I, alright
You know what, I'm gonna hold you in my arms
Just, you and I, oh yeah in the midnight hour
Oh baby in the midnight hour

Pickett died from a heart attack on January 19, 2006 in Reston, Virginia. He was aged 64.[10] He was buried in Louisville, Kentucky. The eulogy was delivered by Pastor Steve Owens of Decatur, Georgia. Little Richard, a long-time friend of Pickett's, spoke about him and preached briefly at the funeral

We didn't have house or car AC until the late 60s. (for that matter, we didn't even have a color TV until the late 60s) I did have a happy childhood though, even though my parents hated this kind. of music. It sure brings back memories.

  28. Chris Welcome

I'm a Baby Boomer and I miss dearly the great sounds of Black soul music. There's no Black artists today that can even remotely compare to Wilson P., Otis Redding, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, David Ruffin, Aretha Franklin, and others. NOT EVEN CLOSE I said ! Nothing but rap crap today !

The wicked Pickett had two lesser hits before this one hit. "If You Need Me" and "It's Too Late", on the Double-L label (Owned by Lloyd Price). I was a DJ on KTEO in San Angelo, TX back then (mid 1963) and we played both of them, thanks to our Program Director, Jack D. Bailey. He'd worked in Pittsburgh for several years but had come down to Texas to be with his mom who was in her last days. He brought our station a real big market sound and it is still a thrill to remember working there. Thanks Jack!

  72. Steven Haley

Why isn't the baritone sax utilized any more? It made any song a classic.
