The love of fans is different from that of people close to you. It can be isolating because you know that fans admire your talent and don't really know who you are. It is doubtful that not one show passed where someone came up to this lady and told her how much they loved her music. She lacked a true relationship in her life. We all need that. I miss her and wish that I could have gone to one of her concerts. I have gone to just a few "The Dramatic (after Ron Banks passed) and the Temps .

I learned about Phyllis from my father. He had all kinds of jazz and funk music like Isaac Hayes, Roy Ayers, Al Jerreau, Phyllis Hyman and others. He was a jazz officionado. I look at Phyllis and Angela Bofill and they have such beautiful expressive eyes to match their voices. They had the whole package. Talented people are sensitive women even more as they age. We are always expected to be eternally youthful and beautiful. Phyllis had a void that music could not fill.
