I always took it that this song was being sung from the point of view of Satan.

I see others say it's the daily battle with sin and the old man is your old self.

Great song, lyrically, as well as musically. Love that snappy strat tone. Hartman has some genius guitar licks all over the place in this one.

The guitar at 2 minutes is amazing! Musically they are innovative and tight. If Petra was mainstream they would be as popular as Zeppelin. Too bad the message of salvation is lost on most, including those who claim to know him.

Yes that is true, we have to kill our old man (the flesh). But I also say who has ever lived a *sinless or perfect life?* Not me nor you. Yes we are to sin less, but we will never be *sinless or perfect* until we leave our Natural Bodies. As long as we remain in our Natural Bodies. We will still have the urge to sin, make mistakes & fail daily. But if you read God's words daily and go to church. We will have power over sin.

We are beginning to study "Licensed to Kill" by Brian Hedges in our church. An OUTSTANDING read for whoever is intent on killing the old man--A.K.A. "mortification of the flesh" to the "old school" folks.

Sadly, I live in a culture today where no one understands this anymore, that basically grace washes away the sin ... even if we go on sinning. The idea of total repentance is completely lost.
Sad further, it's gotten to me. My old man thrives.. :`(

Every Christian should be able to relate to this song. My "old man" seems to have millions of lives; he keeps showing up! It's a daily battle to kill the sinful nature.

I trust Yeshua to crucify my old man. I have to put my m oney where my mouth is. YOu either trust Him or you don't.

actually...I wouldn't thought so........I always "looked" from the christian perspective......(once you accept Christ in your heart you become a new man....but the old sinner man always is hunting you)..
