I love this era of Petra but not this particular inclination of it, the use of vocal correction is noticeably awful.

One thing petra gets wrong is that we have to attain Perfection before we can enter Heaven or else we will not be saved. While all have sinned the Bible clearly states that we have to be perfect even as Jesus' father is perfect. This is a slow process so you better be striving for perfection and try through Christ's strength to attain Perfection right now. Also, we are not to be praising man at any time. All the cheering and clapping and shouting should be for Jesus alone.

Enjoyed them on the 1985 BEAT THE SYSTEM tour - incredible show. I was 21 then & the LORD used them & their inspiring music to keep me faithful to Jesus & my heart & head in His Word.
Now at 55 my 5 kids know all their songs too & love them likewise !
An unsaved friend came with me back then & remarked their show & talent was the best he'd ever seen vs secular bands.
That's the difference the blessing of the LORD makes !

In my country, there are funerals where the public is more cheerful than the crowd at that concert. Come on, people!! That is Petra!! The greatest Christian band of all times! Hi Andreas, let me assure you that Greg can sing on key perfectly with a range of 4 octaves. I can tell you this from having spent time with him very recently. He's still one of the best vocalists in Christian or Rock. In fact, some of the top rockers in the world have said so. God bless.

Wow they are still the Kings of Christian Rock! They are the group that drew me in from secular music back in 1983! I still love their music and the way that they are not ashamed to proclaim the name of JESUS! Current Christan bands could learn a lot from these guys. The only other band with the same brave willingness to proclaim Jesus to a dying world is Apologetix!

Probably not the best choice of words for this thread, but GODDAMN these guys amazing! I’m almost 50 and been a huge Petra fan since the age of 10. These cats were the soundtrack to my youth and it’s obvious they’ve still got it. And then some. What an incredible display of virtuosity and musicianship. Keep rocking, fellas! Thanks for the memories!

These guys are good so why so much auto-tune on the vocal? It sounds so unnatural.

I love Petra and they have always been a part of my collection of music. With that said, over the years as you learn to discern the difference between traditional teaching and truth from scripture you revisit the lyrics of songs you loved and realize they mixed law with Grace and the message in the song is tainted (I still enjoy the song because I can separate truth from error) and I dont judge anyone for where they are in their journey because I was once there.

All of us will never agree on everything, we will see things differently, that's why there are so many "denominations " Paul preached against schisms but as humans we have a need to be right over the other guy. Sad.

Yikes. The new face of auto-tune is Greg X Volz. Yeesh. And, post-processing to fix instrumental errors, too. But, I'm still glad they did this concert, because it's always good to see the whole band together. But, from the over-produced sound of this audio, they might need to hang it up, before it gets any worse.
P.s. Those of you in these forums who do not have professional credentials in recording and production, please refrain from telling everybody that there is no post-processing on the instruments and vocals. I don't think they are aiming to be fake, but these guys did not execute their parts well enough in the original recorded material to release it exactly as they performed it. Sorry.

Hi Jeff, just saw your comments and thought I might add some thoughts on this topic. I once owned a Christian record label, touring company and large recording studio. I am a classically trained musician and was also a Christian artist performing for many years. I also have written over 100 published songs in many genres and I have produced over 10 Christian artists. I also have degrees in electrical engineering and business and I am an expert on recording and production. I also used to be one of the individuals who voted for the Dove awards and I was involved heavily in the GMA back in the day. I share this information in my hope that I have established that I do have some credibility. You are certainly right that there is some auto-tune and post-processing here, but don't let that get in the way of appreciating the great musicianship these guys offer. I know Greg and can tell you that he can still sing on key in 4 octaves with no problem. I didn't produce this concert, but I am assuming that the people behind the scenes liked the sound of auto-tune and used it. It is rather popular today, although I am not a big fan of it myself. As for Louie on drums, he is still as tight as ever. John is an amazing player, writer, arranger and he still has amazing skills. What you would not likely know is that the band came together with just a few days of notice and only had one practice session before having to do this event. Sometimes it just works out that way. Finally, if you heard the raw recording without the post, you would likely proclaim them to still be one amazing collection of musicians. Let's not forget though that their lyrics and their focus on Jesus is what makes them really special. God bless.

I know Greg X Volz kept his chops up for all those years, but wow! For a 62 year old man to sound that good is amazing. He sounds exactly the same as he did in 1984. Not many 80's rockers can say that. Obviously Hartman & Co. are also flawless.

The current state of "Christian music" is completely pathetic!
It seriously pales in comparison to what bands like Petra did years ago!! Most of today's music is meaningless, watered down nonsense, that's force-fed down everyone's throat constantly! I was listening to my local Christian radio station here in Miami, FL yesterday and was so disgusted at what I was hearing, that I turned off the radio!
As a general statement, just because any music may be "current", doesn't mean it's any good! I grew up during a time, when real Christian musicians were putting out some great stuff! We need a resurgence of great Christian music once again! There needs to be support for those that are truly called, anointed and appointed of the Lord to bring something fresh from His table!
Satan sends out his servants, that are nothing but wolves in sheep's clothing, that seek to infiltrate the church and pose as Christians, just so they can gain credibility within the Body of Christ. Then once they're in a position of influence and power, they use Satan's music to lead many astray! We need to expose the devil and his lies!
Let us pray that God will raise up those that are true to Him in every regard! Those that thirst and hunger after Jesus, in the beauty of holiness! True and genuine men and woman of God that seek to worship Him in spirit and in truth, in Jesus name!

Bought the dvd back in 2012. Didn't regret it. All the songs are so great. Plus the extra documentary they kept was awesome. Love this band and may GOD continually bless them to spread the word !

Petra was my First Concert. It was the "More Power to ya" Tour. This Band along with the People that were there, helped me with my Christianity. I owe a load to Petra for their Beautiful Words and voices. Praise God in how he brings people to his Call.
