I learn bar chords to this song in the 80's, I have a student now so I looked it up, great to see it on here! I use to go see Petra when they came to Kansas City in the 80's, great music then and I still love it now. Early Petra was tremendous music that went greatly unappreciated.

I love petra..however cant agree on one statement. Angel of light is not lucifer or satan..he just masquerades..if he was angel of light, den he din have to masquerade

Lucifer was the head arch angel before he rebelled and was thrown out of Heaven. The Bible says he can still transform himself into an angel of light. (See 2 Corinthians 11:14)

Ahhh I remember listening to this whole album when I was a kid it was my autistic brother's who still has most of petra's album's it always calmed him down and we got to listen too,great song and great album!!

I remember installing aluminum siding in 30° to this album. The Lord delivered me from NJ to Florida. These days it's vinyl siding in 90° to the Newsboys. Still love Petra

One of the first groups I started listening to in the early 80's. Maybe someone here will know I am not sure it was a Petra song but there was one that they used to play at the christian skate it started out with the sound of thunder and lightening can't find it anywhere

the first song that comes to mind from back then is one by Rez Band, but it's a slow song so probably not something good for skating.

Such nostalgia. I'm an atheist (which is a relevant statement because of this song and the bands' themes) but this was one my favorite songs as a kid. I remember spending hours trying figure out that guitar solo.
Also I think the use of jazz chords and synths in this otherwise quite bluesy rock song is cool :)

Petra was one of my favourite bands when I was a kid as well. Where I live people aren't christian so I'm not one, but the music built around the mythology is pretty cool. May Odin bless your path!

Also an atheist here. I too still love Petra’s music, however! That guitar riff on here is fun and not too hard to play. I’ve been working on it lately. It’s in B-flat, which is kind of rough on guitar. You can deal with it either by sticking to power chords, or tuning your guitar down half a step. Then you’ll be using the normal A chord position to hit the B-flat. The lead guitar part is still not particularly easy. Bob Hartman is an awesome guitarist! One of the greats.

Cool to see fellow atheists who love Petra! Regardless of the fact that they're a Christian band, they are/were an immensely talented group that influenced a whole genre of music that continues to this day.

@Joel Leonard awesome comment. I've done church music for over 25 years and David's instruments have been a definite topic of conversation. I've listened to the comments and brought your point up in every response. I've loved the people who liked and disliked them throughout the whole narrative and there was no dissent, because they were heard and loved and they in turn, loved and listened.

I have this song playing in a screenplay of mine titled Gorgeous Dark...  In the movie this song is almost 70 years old.  The movie is set in the year 2051.

I grow up in my Christian Life with Petra! God save me in 1983. I threw out all my secular music and Petra became my favorite Christian Band and still is!

You do know Greg played drums on this album and Bob play gutiar, bass, and keys.

when i hear that opening riff, i just wanna go out and eat babies hearts ;p at least that's what was expected when this was first heard. these lyrics edify me to this day. lucifer can make anything look appealing. listen to the holy spirit of god, in what ever form (you'll know it, when you hear it...if you love the lord)

Amazing music. They were right to the point, they could preach your the scripture all the while playing fantastic rock.

The one thing they pulled off better then anyone then was they had such good meaningful lyrics, and their music was up to par rather then a lot of the dry sounding Christian music of those days.

With Gods help they made the gospel more real to people, in great music.

Greg did guest vocals on Come and Join Us. He sang lead on Washes Whiter Than, Never Say Die, More Power to Ya, Not of This World, Beat the System, and the live album Captured in Time and Space. He sang with Petra from roughly 1977 - February 1986. John Schlitt was the lead vocalist for the remainder of Petra's history as a band from that time on.

Yeah, Greg sings on this album, and the next one if I'm not mistaken. A good raw sound before Petra toyed with the over digitalization. Always was my favorite album from them.

I have this album, my dad got it when he was younger and now I listen to it and I'm 16.
