Peter Frampton - Baby (Something's Happening) Lyrics

Who said It's my year was it you there - can't go wrong
I see a new way you'll be in my play - sing my song
Where is the reason I keep teasing - if I knew
Now to see the new year not being blue here - all year round

Alright somethin's happening
Hold tight it might be lightning
Turn up the lights somethin's moving
Can't sleep at night my heart keeps missing a beat

I know it's my year ain't got no fear - Hold me down
Take it easy if not for me - Sing my song
Where is the reason I keep teasing - If I knew
Now to see the new year not being blue here - Evermore

Alright somethin's happening
Hold tight it might be lightning
Turn up the lights I feel like dancing
Can't sleep at night my heart keeps missing a beat

Ooh baby, don't ever let it bring you down
Ooh baby, that's not the way I want it to sound
Ooh baby, don't catch me when I'm runnin' around
Ooh baby, I'll pick you up if your on the ground

Alright somethin's happening
Hold tight it might be lightning
Turn up the lights I feel like dancing
Can't sleep at night my heart keeps missing a beat

Ooh baby, don't ever let it bring you down
Ooh baby, that's not the way I want it to sound
Ooh baby, don't catch me when I'm runnin' around
Ooh baby, I'll pick you up if your on the ground

This classic album showed Peter at his ABSOLUTE peak!

  9. r.... ....

Credit must be given to John Siomos on this album. Truly one of the most solid drummers ever. This song brings me right back to when my brother used to put the 8 track of this on and blast it in our garage. I was just a kid but absolutely loved it and always sang along. ...."OOOOOOOOH BABY"

    r.... ....

I was just thinking about that old 8 track with the match book wedged to keep it from dragging !

I saw this tour at Madison Square Garden October 8 1976. I'm going to see his LAST concert at MSG 9/1319. Full circle. Going to be a bit emotional. Glad I grew up when I did, wouldn't trade it for anything. Now we have Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Madonna...go figure.

  16. P.... T....

Seen him with Steve Miller in Saskatoon, great concert, one of my all time favourite guitarists & that’s in a list of mostly metal guitarists!!! One of the greatest rock guitarists!

    h.... ....

    This is from Wikipedia:

The introduction "If there was ever a musician who was an honorary member of San Francisco society, Mr. Peter Frampton" was by Bill Graham at Winterland.

  49. S.... A....

still loving on you baby I'll never forget you

  50. D.... G....

The man who introduces Peter Frampton on this record is John Morris, who was the Woodstock stage announcer (along with Chip Monck) back in 1969.

    D.... G....

    Nice tid-bit of interest, THANKS!!

    D.... G....

We were told it was Bill Graham the famed concert promoter. Doesnt it say that on the liner notes? Immana check again.

    D.... G....

From a reliable source : "In the album’s opening seconds, as 5,400 fans make the universal clapping signal for “start the show already!” we hear smooth-voiced promoter Bill Graham’s odd sentence-fragment introduction: “If there was ever a musician who was an honorary member of San Francisco’s society … Mr. Peter Frampton!”

    1976............one UNFORGETTABLE YEAR...........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  56. T.... L....

Summer June 1976, Phillys JFK Stadium, 129,999 people and I jamming to the tight sounding Gary "Dreamweaver" Wright and band, the fantastic and talented Peter Frampton and band, and the mighty Yes. 1 of those days that I wish I could relive. All 3 at the top of their game, perfect sound, great musicianship, and tremendous stage presence. A concert that still gives me chills to this day. Saw Peter a few years back and he hasn't lost a thing. Perfect sounding show, just great showmen. Thank you Mr. Frampton.

    T.... L....

    Tayo Lopes and Yes

  57. D.... O....

best opening track on an album of all time

    D.... O....

Dennis Osborne couldn’t agree more. And then to follow it up with Doobie Wop, which makes it the best two opening songs. It must have been amazing to be in the audience that night.

I can’t think of another song structured like Something’s Happening, in which what is normally one instrumental break (or whatever the correct musical term is) is repeated after every verse. To very positive effect, I might add.

    D.... O....

    "THANK YOU !"

    D.... O....

    I smile every time

    D.... O....

........ The LIVE ALBUM of LIVE ALBUMS from 1976.......... one UNFORGETTABLE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  59. M.... H....

I was a senior in high school PEEFECT to me for this to come out every gal in school was in love with Peter I went to pleasant valley high yes the gals loved them some peter

  60. p.... ....

Intro-one wonders if Frampton would be introduced as an" honorary member of San Francisco society" today, me thinks not! And I doubt if he would want to be.Goodby my old soulless San Francisco!

  61. j.... m....

Well, after this there was nowhere for Frampton to go or so it would seem..teenybopper mag covers, a horrible movie and lackluster follow up studio album with a dumb title... "I'm IN you..." as Zappa pointed out (although the title track was not a bad ballad, really) the music machine must have wanted him to recreate the live album's vibe over and over which was impossible. A better follow up studio album, minus any ill-fated Beatles/Bee-Gees movie tie-ins and then a few years hiatus would have been the thing to do --the problem would have been to try and get away with a bold choice at that time of studio strangleholds on artists.

  62. .... ....

Please anyone tell me about announcement of opening on this album.
    I can't hear it precisely.

    .... ....

I hear "If there was ever a musician who was an honorary member of San Francisco society .. Mr. Peter Frampton!!!"
The voice is Bill Graham. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Graham_(promoter)

  64. L.... N....

Remember those record clubs where you could pick out 10 albums for a dime? Well I picked Frampton Comes Alive and then I picked Frampton Comes Alive and then I chose Frampton comes Alive and then two more.. you guessed it! I wasn't obsessed with him or anything! I'm still not! That's why I'm here! 😂🤗😇😈

  65. D.... M....

    🌿💜🎸💜🌿
    Aawe.. miss Bill Graham..
This album was/is truly a masterpiece, that and his Frampton album.
The good old days of Bill Graham Presents, Days on the Green in Oakland, Calif, I always think of when hearing this. Some real magical days!
    🌿💜🎸💜🌿

    M.... C....

You got it! Went to many Day on the Green concerts in Oakland, saw among others the Eagles,Heart, Steve Miller, Foreigner, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Peter Frampton, the Doobie Brothers and so many more.I was 19, in the Air Force and I lived in northern California at the best time possible time: between the hippie silliness and the AIDS epidemic. It was incredible so sad to see what it has become, I lived there for over six years and coming from the cold bleakness of the rust belt to the Bay area was mind blowing(in more than one way ha ha). Treasured bitter sweet memories for sure.

  75. 1.... ....

I literally could listen to this album EVERY DAY and not get tired of it. Peter is so full of life and passion for his craft, the album just bristles with melodic, positive energy !! :-) ♫ ♫

  76. K.... U....

Im so glad to have walked this earth with music so awesome as this!!!

    K.... U....

    VERY WELL PUT!!!

    K.... U....

So true brother.. don’t make it like they used

  77. Z.... ....

I have always thought this was the best Frampton song ever and was very glad to hear him play it live a year or so ago.   I love the two matching solos in the second part of the song and really love the piano/guitar mix.  You don't hear much piano in modern music and that's too bad.  If you listen to the Stones best music of the late 60's early 70's there was plenty of piano as well.

  78. G.... S....

this will have millions of hits when it is rediscovered...Frampton was and is still amazing....he sounds the same today.....what a talent

  79. K.... U....

Saw him when he first came back from hiding in 1993 in Jacksonville Florida at a club called Shades..8 dollars a ticket..I was in front stage and could stick my hand out and touch him..and he played this whole album and it sounded perfect!!!..Awesome show minus his hair!!.. lol..we all were like damn he went bald..Fun stuff!!!

    K.... U....

Kris Untch Peter and Cheap Trick a couple years back, WOW!

    K.... U....

Mu husband at the time was lucking to see him at Hampton Beach NH in 1995 or 1996 for $30.00 was a small group But he gave an AWESOME concert . I just saw him in June Gilford NH $140.00 STILL Awesome and was worth the price !

    K.... U....

HaHaHa,we all look different than we did she. he first did this song.

    K.... U....

we all look different than we did when he first did this song.

  85. h.... g....

this song brings back so many memories.

  86. S.... B....

Someone already posted what a down to earth guy Frampton is. I've heard him interviewed on rock line or something else and he does seem like an amazing guy, someone I'm happy to see become a huge success. It's too bad radio stations are so stultifyingly formatted by people who do not seem to know what a great genre classic rock is and that's why you seldom if ever hear "deep cuts" like this one airing. I hope radio will one day go back to where it came from, with live jocks playing "free form" music that tells a longer story than the individual songs by playing carefully selected tracks in the right order like Jim Ladd does in L.A. with his "Head Sets" on KLOS and formerly with the old KMET, "The Mighty Met." Radio and this music are incredible entertainment when they are allowed to augment each other. This includes the newer "grunge" and "alternative" bands as well as the usual, essential Stones, Doors, Foghat, CCR, the Who, the GUESS Who, BTO, Cheap Trick, Supertramp, ARS, Police, Skynyrd/38 Special/Rossington Collins, Etc. It's great stuff and I feel so lucky to have grown up when this kind of music was in its heydey, from the mid-sixties on up through most of the eighties, IMHO. Rock on and Party Hearty, people!!

    S.... B....

I heard him speak in interviews a few time throughout the years and just recently and yes he does seem like a very down to earth guy. He knew David Bowie, they grew up in the same area. Bowie was a few years older. Even his Dad knew David and he like to enjoy his company. ... The interview and story was just so cool to hear. Love to hear these kind of things.... love Peter Frampton and his music, so glad they recorded the Double live.... and that is a story in itself.

  87. h.... g....

i wish i was young listening

  88. b.... ....

Is Peter the only survivor from that line-up?🙁

  89. D.... M....

Summer of '76. A very good year.

    D.... M....

Well I can think of at least 2 things you might be alluding to....would you care to elaborate a little? ;););)

    D.... M....

Me too!! I only ever owned five 8-track tapes in my life, this was my favorite. I remember when they would switch tracks mid song... Buzzkill

    D.... M....

    the best!!!!

    D.... M....

1976 WAS probably one of my very favorite years ever: A GREAT girlfriend, a GREAT job (clerk/typist for the MPs), and winter/spring/early summer, probably THE best band I was ever in...but then...July, '76: got transferred from NY to Ft. Sam Houston, TX, and then to Ft. Benning (AKA, "What's the use in winning?") GA...nah. Suck-city. When it came time to jump off in '77, I was GONE.

    D.... M....

David Morris bet your ass :)

  90. z.... ....

    Great Double Album 8 X Platinum & counting ?

  91. L.... ....

Love Peter Frampton! Fell in love with his sound when I was 11 and have been a fan ever since. Underappreciated IMO, an unsung guitar hero.

    L.... ....

Living on Long Island I was fortunate to see his shows at Madison Square Garden on his '77 Tour! He played the entire FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE album front to back!

  92. R.... M....

Peter Frampton thank you for all the good time in Austin Tx.

  93. r.... D....

I love you Peter!!❤keep on Rocking❤can't wait to see you again in June 10 2016 @ The Mann Center👆❤🌷👆❤

    r.... D....

So cool you got tickets, I gotta chk his show dates I'm near Philly may of missed him already

  94. i.... ....

    today is day star

  95. h.... g....

i love this song. i am going back

  96. C.... ....

    Love it!

  97. S.... B....

I want to jump in here and give major credit to Peter's producer. Isn't the audio quality on this album just amazingly bold and clear? Like Hugh Padgham for Phil Collins and George Martin for the Beatles. This album would sound incredible coming out of an egg carton on an out-of-town, "signal fringe" AM radio station through a storm cell.

    S.... B....

    +roquefortfiles Old lady: "You're a monster."

Peter: "No! 'Frampton Comes Alive!', 1976. THAT was a monster. Did you know ANYONE that didn't have that album?"

    S.... B....

Bradley Cotton I still listen to it 40 yrs on my turntable. Linear tracking
    also have cd

    S.... B....

    @Michael Adamcik

I heard this recently on vinyl.  Trust me it is a different experience to a CD or MP3.  It is a phenomenally well recorded and engineered album.  It is a crime to listen to this on MP3.

    S.... B....

glad to see ppl rediscovering vinyl.

    S.... B....

@Gerard Guilmette  I am a guitarist and what I noticed on the vinyl was that you could hear notes and chords he plays that are absolutely inaudible on the MP3 versions of this album.  So much so that I said.. "Wow" when I listened to it.   As to the difference.   It is one of the greatest live albums bar none.

  98. D.... F....

Happy 40th birthday Frampton Comes Alive!

  99. S.... N....

    THERE IS A REASON

  100. B.... W....

this whole album sounds as great as it did 39 years ago (gulp)! a classic for those of us old enough to remember real music

    B.... W....

Music is garbage now. And I do not say that because I'm old but for the simple reason melodies and lyrics are a thing of the past. Hopefully the toddlers of today will
Rediscover the music of the past and rebel against their parents who love the crap that they believe to be music.

    B.... W....

    get your colonoscopy

    B.... W....

    i remember Bart

    B.... W....

    agreed!

    B.... W....

@Nez Appaz Bend over...we'll start with you sporto. Music in 2019 sucks bucket of ass.
