Perry included this song in his 1968 album 'Look to your Heart"which song writer Sammy Cahn said was the best pop album he'd ever heard! I agree. The two albums that preceded it:" Lightly Latin" and " In Italy" were also excellent.

This song reminds me of my childhood at my Grandparents house. They are Italian/Sicilian so all these songs were played on my moms and Dads side. I also heard it from movie Beautiful Boy.

the original version of this song, written for the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" is sung during the main characters daughters wedding. I do not know the context of how it is used in beautiful boy but I hope it captures the beautiful truth to this piece

True story of a father coping with his eldest son's escalating & hitherto unrecognised drug addiction, he is reflecting upon the true joy his son brought to him, his first wife and to those he met. Spinning out of control he goes on long 'runs' under the influence and with characters unknown. There is great love for the boy, undying love but he's battered as many loved ones are by the hurts desperate people unfeelingly inflict in single minded pursuit of cash or plunders that can be cashed or traded. So in context here the song serves to create context to the pain involved in committing to trying to support a return to the bosom of the family. There are two books - Dad's perspective is largely shown in his book Beautiful Boy the film named after it. The true and much much tougher perspective comes from the boy himself in Tweak! Quite unforgettable. 👍

This song kills me!!! My daughter went through the same as beatiful boy...However she died Dec 23rd 2017. But i am 58 and my parents loved Perry Como. I should have never had children

@Smilthy i was 26 in 1986 when i had my first. She was the light of my life. In 1991 i had my second daughter. She was tiny and had surgery the next day and i almost lost her. She is now 27 and beautiful inside out. Unfortunately i did lose my oldest at 30 and that light is gone now. I think that reference i made was due to the fact that i was told i could never have children when i was 17 after having surgery for cancer. Unfortunately i should had never posted that. It is what it is though.

I'm here because I lost my sweet daughterlast December 23rd from a drugoverdose and i found her. She bought the book and read it and it was so sad!!

This song is actually from the musical Fiddler on the Roof. I never heard this version until watching My Beautiful Boy. It is a very haunting version and perfect for that part of the movie.

Beautiful!! I was 6 yrs old and i rembered this song . I read the book beautiful boy sunce my daughter bought it for me to admit her addiction to me. She was 30 when she passed. When the movie came out I almost died when i heard this beautiful Perry Como song!!I died with my sweetbeautiful daughter Jessica Amber that day.. I am merely an empty shell these days

I'm watching it right now and had to save this sing before I forget. This movie really hits home and was hard to watch, as I have struggled with addiction myself. And from all the hurt I've put my family through.

@baharak alamdari thank you very much. I'm going on about 2 years off of stimulants and heroin. Working on weaning off of methadone maintenance therapy. Just ready to be done with it all. My heart goes out to all the all the families and the addicts themselves. I've met so many amazing people in treatment, addicts are just people who are hurting. Every one of them were once vibrant cheerful children and something came along and scared that kid away.

That's how I got here...thought it was Frankie at first. Song almost brings me to tears everytime I listen to it...and my daughter is only 8 months lol

@White Boy Cool hold her close and never let her go!! Our world is so cold and no one cares but you and your family. Always treasure that! My hub and i lost our beautiful baby girl. She was 30 and lost in the opiod addiction epidemic after her car accident!! Anyway, we brought her into this life and i was there when she left this world as i gave her CPR!! At least she was home 😉
