The first time I heard this song was in a dream. I was 14. It was dawn. I was in some church and a choral was singing this.

In the choral's second row, third from the left, was the most beautiful brunette I had ever seen (think of actress Winona Ryder as Elisabetha, Count Dracula's 15th century wife --- or think of singer Caterina Valente in her 20s). I was smiling at her. She was smiling back as she sung along with the choral.

Then everything faded as I slowly woke up; it took me like forever to realize I was back in my room in 1986 and the radio was playing oldies.

My dad had the best taste in music.

Anybody else old enough to remember when this tune was used for a Schaeffer Beer commercial in the 60's? "Grab a beer and pass it round and round"  God, I still remember it from my childhood.

Wasn't it also "Take a ring and put another ring..." to describe the Schafer logo (when you're having more than one, of course)

This was written in just a few minutes while the writer/composer was on the subway listening to the wheels. It is one of my 5 favourite (yes, I'm Canadian) Como songs.

Then it's fitting that Sia was the one to cover this classic. She says she writes all her songs in 10-15 minutes

The writer, Michael Stallman, said it was an old NYC bus - and the clickety clack of the old coin machines they had.

One of my favorite songs at the time....I was about 5 yrs. old. So happy to revisit this wonderful tune..... so optimistic.
But I had forgotten about the amazing back-up ensemble on in this recording. It builds so beautifully and compliments Perry, without ever shadowing his gorgeous voice.
