Paul Revere & The Raiders - Louie, Go Home (Single Version) Lyrics

Hah, when I left my wife and child, Louie go back home
And my, oh my car jumps and it's about to drive me wild, Louie go back home
Ah a little voice inside my head goes on and on, Louie go back home
Says Louie Louie Louie, you'd better go back h-home

Hah hah, I thought I'd make it above myself, Louie go back home
But my baby has got my heart locked on the shed, Louie go back home
Well hah, I can still hear my baby moan, Louie go back home
Oh Louie Louie, you'd better come back a-home

A-better go back home, Louie go back home
Better go back home, Louie go back home
I'd better go home, better go back home, mmm hmm

Home, ho-home, ho-ho-home, better go back
Home, ho-home, ho-ho-hmm mmm mmm hmm
Home, ho-home, ho-ho-home, better go back home
Just a little bit softer
I'm goin' home a-to my baby
Yeah, 'cause you know that she loves you, daddy, like crazy
I miss her so much, tell you what I'm gonna do
Gonna buy you a monkey and a new dog too, yeah
Because I've got to get home now to my baby
Just a little bit louder now, oh just a little bit louder

Hah go back home, Louie go back home
I'd better better better go on home, Louie go back home
Oh go home, better go back home
Now Louie, where you been?

Mark Lindsay's killer vocals! These guys share some of the wild R&B roots with other Pacific Northwest bands like The Sonics and The Wailers.

Can't help but think this song is a message about their song " Louie Louie " that got ripped off. But I could be wrong. Outstanding song.

Great track. Very good. I can imagine Ian McCulloch doing this, in Bunnymen days. Perhaps he did; he'd of certainly known about the song from Bowie.

  12. R.... T....

Freakin' awesome tune......30 mins to short though ;-)

I've always thought that the goofy outfits and onstage antics by this group were a distraction from the great music they played. Their music was good enough to stand on its own and this is a good example of their many great songs. Thanks for this one, Jim, it's been awhile since I've heard this great tune!

+jrsn2music Identity uniforms, John. AC-DC still wears them. Ha! You're right, The Raiders music was great, for sure. I played the crap out of this album at home. Thanks so much for listening and commenting!

jrsn2music goofy outfits not really, the Raiders may not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as they should be, but they without a doubt influenced fashion of the 60s. Hendrix copied the frilly shirt look as well as Pete Townsend Deep Purple and numerous others. The Beatles copped the military uniform style for Sergeant Pepper's and George Harrison is on the cover wearing a three-cornered hat. Gee I wonder where they got that idea. Plus take a look around at all the foxy birds in the world, most nowadays where knee high boots like the Raiders pioneered.

@Russell Crawford Yeah, their uniforms were cool, squares just don't get it!

Great song, Jim, another new one for me. Thanks so much for sharing! Have a wonderful week, my friend :))

Haven't heard this one in ages ~ still sounds great and has that "Byrdsy" sound going for it!

    B.... ....

+Beatles❤Girl Yes, a little "8 Miles Highish" sound...The Byrds might have gotten a little inspiration from this song since it was two earlier. Never the less it is a sound that I love. Thanks so much for listening, BG :))

Hello from Dallas. Texas. It doesn't sound like the birds to me however it's funny that you would mention it. Terry Melcher Doris Day's son was the producer for the Raiders and the birds for the Columbia label. You may already know it but this was the first song that David Bowie ever recorded with his group the kingbees. This is a rerecording of a song the Raiders did a couple of years later with a much different arrangement, and a more 60s updated 60s vibe. The Raiders original version was horrible and so was David Bowie's. One of the earlier The Who cuts was this same song but they titled it Luby go home. Therefore it appears that the Raiders were an influence on Bowie and The Who. Ringo Starr was in town a couple of months ago and I was trying to get his autograph, with no success of course, and I wanted to ask him if he at ever heard of Paul Revere and the Raiders!
