Pat Benatar - Wuthering Heights Lyrics

Out on the wiley, windy moors, we'd roll and fall in green
You had a temper like my jealousy, too hot, too greedy
How could you leave me, when I needed to possess you
I hated you, I loved you too
Bad dreams in the night
You told me I was going to lose the fight
Leave behind my

Wuthering, Wuthering, Wuthering Heights
Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy, I've come home
I'm - so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy, I've come home
I'm - so cold, let me in your window

Ooh, it gets dark, it gets lonely
On the other side from you
I pine a lot, I find the lot falls through without you
I'm coming back love, cruel Heathcliff
My one dream, my only master

Too long I roam in the night
I'm coming back to his side to put it right
I'm coming home to

Wuthering, Wuthering, Wuthering Heights
Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy, I've come home
I'm - so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy, I've come home
I'm - so cold, let me in your window

Ooh, let me have it, let me grab your soul away
Ooh, let me have it, let me grab your soul away
You know it's me, Cathy

Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy, I've come home
I'm - so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy, I've come home
I'm - so cold, let me in your window
Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy, I've come home
So cold

  2. d.... n....

    god i love it...that voice

  3. m.... ....

    Sick version...it destroys the original.

  4. R.... H....

shitty video it has 5min of silence, thumbs down a hole!

  5. D.... C....

    Prefer kates

  6. j.... l....

Yes its not Kate ...but it is Benatar.

  7. r.... ....

Listen to the thrilling background harmonies on the highest notes ... those are also all Pat, as she didn't "do" background singers until her "Seven The Hard Way" Tour many years later.

  8. Z.... t....

    Love this passionate song

  9. J.... F....

Just listened to the 3 most popular versions, Bush, Benetar, and Matos...Only in Pat's version can you get both the emotion AND understand the words.. Pat could have easily taken the song full stratosphere, instead, we actually can understand the story...

  10. D.... ....

How did I just discover this in 2020? This is great!

  11. D.... S....

    Haha it's perfect 😂

  12. A.... P....

Pat has a resembles of the original but just a bit off key

  13. A.... S....

You can stop listening at 4:20. that's when it ends. you're welcome.

  14. S.... C....

    Who's Listening November 2019??

  15. o.... ....

    Love is a battlefield

  16. R.... C....

Pat Benatar sings this song so beautifully !

  17. K.... M....

To call this a Cover, is, by all accounts, technically accurate. However, to say that this adaptation is by far the best cover would be saying this song was only sung in back street dives, which it wasn't. This song was exquisitely produced and published, which Pat took ownership of, making it popular in the US. I heard this version before I heard Kate Bush's version, and I thought, as I am sure most people did, Kate did an excellent job in covering it. I was wrong of course, but that just goes to show the strength and power of Pat's performance. This was one of the songs that helped add considerably more depth to Pat's legacy as not only a Rock Singer, but an Operettic Aria.

  18. j.... ....

It's like a more cleaner, more polished version meant for radio, really good too, but i love the wierdness of Kates version.

  19. D.... ....

She doesn't have the range that Kate Bush does and it shows in the vocal. If you're going to cover a song, you've got to be open to the possibility that it will pale in comparison to the original, as is illustrated here.

  20. n.... ....

Why the 9:05 length when the song is only around 4 minutes?

  21. .... ....

    I prefer the original

  22. T.... T....

    Beautiful performance of Pat!

  23. V.... A....

    Amazing!!!

  24. T.... T....

The original has an enchanting ethereal quality that has never been replicated, but I like Pat's cover just as much. They made a good decision to alter the song to suit her voice/style better, rather than trying (and inevitably failing) to recreate the original, because Pat's rendition is brilliant in its own right.

  25. M.... S....

Why does the "Music in this video" section say this song is called Let's Stay Together, UMG (on behalf of EMI) ... was this song released with that name?

  26. a.... ....

    . *Pat gives me chills...*
She can do rock, blues, and anything she wants!
Love how she held that strong note at the end of
    "Cathy!!!!!!" 2:28

    Thanks for the kind upload!

  27. G.... S....

OH deary deary me WHAT A LOAD OF SHITE .

  28. M.... A....

Kate Bush ninguem consegue superar em questões vocais dessa musica... Viva Kate...

  29. M.... B....

Why such a long pause after the song?

  30. W.... J....

Why is it that the tiniest of people have the biggest most amazing voices ?.
Pat, Ronnie James Dio , etc.

A proud and respectfully done cover.
    Great job ! 👍👏

    W.... J....

    Kate is tiny too!

  31. M.... G....

I like pat benatar's version of this song the best.

  32. C.... S....

Not really a fan of Pat Benatar, but this cover is rather good and much better for not being a Kate Bush imitation.

  33. K.... ....

wuthering heights is a heavy stone. do not try to elevate it as an average musician

  34. V.... K....

Pat brings her very own unique faeux operatic voice to this one and of course it is good, she sings it as she can sing it in her key not mimicking the original

  35. g.... ....

I actually knew Pat's version 1st.. So Kate's og is something unique and unforgettable while this is just a decent PB song.

  36. G.... ....

Oh, hey this is better than Angra's version!

  37. R.... S....

Imitation is the best form of flattery, as they say. Another really good cover of this song.

  38. M.... F....

    SO TALENTED!!!!!!!

  39. S.... D....

Was so excited to find this 9 minute extended version of the song. Wow! ;)

  40. D.... F....

Good Lord....Pat Benatar has to be one of the most underrated acts in popular music, never mind that there have been TONS of "Tweener" bands in the past 15 years that sound like their entire sound is a combination of Pat Benatar and KISS ("Dynasty" and "Unmasked" era...probably KISS's best and most underrated era) the style she had is just TIMELESS, you could play her records to a kid today and they wouldn't know it wasn't new music...I think she gets overlooked in retrospect because of lack of "Frills" Take Debby Hary, Blondie's history can be told as a part of the larger story of American Punk, plus the simple fact that she was blonde and in a band called Blondie made for a visual book-mark...Pat was just no-frills Power-Pop...I think if a lot of kids who don't know her stuff, were to hear it today they would freak out.

  41. D.... F....

This SHOULD have been better...It SHOULD have been a blockbuster...unfortunatly Pat's band and producer went a bit half-assed on this version...It's OBVIOUS the thing to do was to play to Pat's STRENGTHS and do a version that would be DIFFERENT from the original. This SHOULD have been epic "Heavy Metal" It SHOULD have sounded like Queen with a female Freddy on vocals...In fact, all they had to do was copy the "We are the champion" template and this would have been monstrous. Kate's original was the stripped-down, minimal production version. It showcased Kate's quirkiness and allowed listeners to absorb the lyrics, persona and melody without distraction...It was GREAT...But ANYONE who has ever heard this song knew that an "Epic-Power" was begging to be done, and Pat was the person to do it....But....They just kind of "wussed-out" and I don't know why...The guitars in the chorus aren't powerful, just a little more powerful than the original...It sounds like they were...I don't know.....SCARED of the song or something...It's actually quite weird, as all they needed to do was be themselves, Pat Benatar''s style should have fit like a glove, but they sound like a wimpier band than usual...very odd...Man, I would have LOVED to hear Queen do this song...Maybe Pat and Freddy could have done a duet? Re-write the second verse, so it's written from Heathcliff's perspective...Then they could have traded lines on the bridge, and sung the last line as a harmony before they explode into unison (Or octave) doubles for the final chorus.....HOLY SHIT!! THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE GREATEST THING EVER...Sucks having good ideas for people who are dead...

  42. T.... B....

Wow, what a great Cover of this great Song!

  43. L.... C....

I'm a die hard of Pat Benatar. Her voice is incredible. This song (and book) is so classic and so goooooooood

  44. d.... v....

One of my all time favorites from pat dam what a voice ❤❤✌

  45. L.... P....

Love this song and she is so awesome

  46. M.... M....

    Nice cover.

  47. S.... K....

She did a great job..love this song

  48. T.... ....

I heard Kates and it hurt my ears. sorry but Pat's is the definitive example.

  49. H.... K....

A bit lacking in emotions.Pretty pointless unless yr gonna change it.

  50. P.... F....

Pat Benatar did it better than Kate Bush. Kate Bush made it a surreal act of visual art, Benatar made it music. Watch Kate Bush doing Roll It To Me on Saturday Night Live and you'll see what I mean. Nothing against her, just a different art perspective.

  51. F.... ....

Not bad, but better if performed by a lyric/coloratura soprano though. Makes it sound more ethereal.

  52. T.... L....

I think it's actually better than Kate Bush's version.

    T.... L....

    So do I

  53. p.... ....

I like this version, Kates is good but sounds too cartoonish

    p.... ....

    I agree.

  54. A.... F....

Andre Matos my favorite version this song. RIP Andre ✝️

  55. J.... F....

Zhev: In a local interview she said that while she care to do much mush, if she was going to so do; she would do it, fully. Obviously, Pat did it in her vastly different style. Kate is obviously a C. Soprano and Pat is closer to the Mezzo. Kate also was also dedicated to choreography and such.

    J.... F....

    and the foggy moors

  56. W.... J....

    Both are pretty amazing

  57. E.... G....

Pat Benetar, one of a kind, so appreciate her talent.
Great version of a classic song.
i love this song by Pat Benatar

  58. B.... ....

I remember listening to this amazing album back in 1981 - while attending submarine school in the Navy (Groton, Connecticut). Eating burgers and dogs and drinking cold beers with my classmates, pondering the future. Those were good times!

  59. R.... K....

    ...much"Thanks" 🇺🇸🎼🎶🏆💝😅🎲🎸🌍. BOBZGT🏁🐾

  60. J.... A....

    Igual a Kate Bush impossível

  61. A.... H....

How come Kate's voice is haunting me in the background while listening to Pat Benatar?

  62. A.... H....

How come Kate's voice is haunting me in the background while listening to Pat Benatar?

  63. N.... L....

Always a faithful fan of Kate Bush. This cover by Pat is stunning vocally and musically. Because its a different style NOT a failed imitation. So many diffident artists try too imitate Kate instead of sing as themselves.

  64. l.... b....

Where’d she go? Beautiful voice. I forgot how much I liked her. Where has she been ?

    l.... b....

She still performs. Her daughters sing.

  65. D.... A....

played like prince wrote the music

  66. S.... C....

    Benetar, (Neil & Pat) Rule

  67. L.... G....

Não chega nem nos pés de Kate Bush kkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  68. G.... W....

I like them both but this is the Aldi version. Listen to Kate for the Fortnum and Mason edition.

  69. B.... ....

Pat's a fine singer, but between her and Neil Giraldo they turn it from something unique into an Eighties Power Ballad.

  70. F.... J....

One of the most beautiful songs ever written, and imho no one sung it better!

  71. M.... ....

This is her best album by far.❤️

  72. A.... S....

    Love this song

  73. B.... A....

Though I love Kate Bush's version, this one, to me anyway, conveys more emotion. I can really feel Cathy's desperate plead to Heathcliff to let her in and more importantly, the power of their ill-fated love.

    B.... A....

Wuthering Heights. Gothic love at its best. Love the original movie with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon💙

  74. L.... G....

It is Kate Bush song. But Pat's rendition is for GROWN UP'S!

  75. B.... G....

Wow!! I Absolutely LOVE this song...Pat does such an amazing cover of this. I have not heard this song in about 30 years or so. When I was a little girl back in the early 80s, we used to have the Crimes of Passion album on 8 TRACK! I remember this song being my absolute favorite, I used to play it over and over and over again until I about wore it out. That is what I love about YouTube today. With a simple search you can find songs you haven't heard in forever! What a trip down memory lane! I can't get enough of this song! So awesome! 😍

  76. A.... L....

I love this song by both singers!

  77. F.... M....

Its good but nothing can beat the original...Kate Bush.

  78. J.... H....

This version makes me cringe so hard, not that it's a bad song or badly performed but imo doesn't do kate bush justice

  79. G.... G....

    Why 9:04, lol!

  80. J.... P....

A magnificent rendition of a haunting and beautiful song

  81. C.... S....

So grateful to Kate for this song but this is the version I grew up with. This is the version I used to be able to sing and that's an accomplishment for someone who has a crazy deep voice like mine. Ah, every time Pat pops that high "Cathy", I ache for the days I could belt it.

  82. t.... p....

james reyne's version is by far the best

  83. K.... Z....

This sounds pretty middle of the road compared to the original. But hey...a lot of people prefer middle of the road

    K.... Z....

A lot of people just prefer the grunge rock sound. It's all subjective.

    K.... Z....

@dancingmoons musically it's much more simplistic. And that's objective

  84. l.... ....

I never knew she covered this. I love that she did this. People are so critical. Pat has an amazing voice - she studied opera, ya know. Love both Pat and Kate.

  85. V.... R....

wow, yikes. Kate Bush forever and only.

    V.... R....

No need to be rude. A lot of people prefer the rock version, and Pat is amazing singer. However I agree that the original is better

  86. D.... ....

Never heard this version. No comparison to the one and only Goddess Kate Bush

  87. J.... E....

    A nice enough try

  88. K.... L....

Compared to Bush this is utter-dribble !

  89. D.... L....

Pat benatar rules this song, 2019

  90. M.... J....

I love Kate Bush - a big fan of her first few albums, but I like this cover version better than Kate's original. Especially the guitar solo in the middle.... but I'm not a big fan of Pat B. otherwise.

  91. R.... T....

I just watched Kate Bush singing this song. Amazing! This version of Kate Bush's song is amazing as well, just updated for this era. Imitation IS the sincerest form of flattery.

  92. p.... t....

It's hard to do a cover of Katie's . But this one of best.:) I wonder how she thinks of this version.

  93. T.... Q....

No one can deny that Pat did a superb job on this.

  94. D.... R....

Neil and Pat made an album that can be enjoyed for life. Crimes Of Passion and this song fits that album. Without Neil's edge and Pat's strong vocals, never was interested in any other version of this tune.

  95. e.... d....

Pretty gutsy choice of a cover.

  96. r.... ....

This is like vanilla ice cream compared to neopolitan ice cream. One is simple and non-confrontational but kind of plain. The other is crazy but far more interesting in the long run. Both are good but Kate's is the one that sticks with me the most. Pat's is kind of forgettable.

  97. R.... R....

This is the best version of this song by far nice going Pat

  98. R.... L....

Never heard Pat Benatar's version before! Lower register, but not bad!

    R.... L....

Less helium affect. Better range adds some depth and power to what was already a beautiful powerful song.
