Pat Benatar - One Love Lyrics
Once there was a man, and he lived to sing the lions song
As he traveled on the road of hope
One love is the light, shining over every mountaintop
It will lead us to the higher ground
One day every heart will beat strong against the night
Once there was a man, and his words became a song of love
And his song became the golden dream
One love is the light, shining over everyone that believes
It will lead us to the higher ground
One day every eye will see truth before the light
Let it be done right now
Some wait, so long
Because our love is strong
Will lead us home, forever
Hear the lion's song, voices cryin' like a desert wind
Yeah he's gone unto his father's land
Afrika tonight, for we truly are one in our hearts
Colors woven in the golden dream
One day every eye will see truth before the light
Let it be done right now
One day every voice will speak strong against the night
Let us be one right now
So let it be
We are the children of a thousand days
We are the people of the hard rain
We are the children of a thousand days
We are the people of the hard rain
We are the people of the hard rain

Beautiful song 💜💙😝
Aside from the word "Africa", it describes Jesus perfectly. I wonder.
2020🎤🎸🎶🥳🎉🥂
31 years old this month (single released late Jan 1989) & still as fresh as ever.
An absolute angel and a gift to us all, from our Heavenly Father!
One love, y'all!
Love pat benatar. She made a lot of great albums and singles.
Music and a song can be so many different things to so many different people, but I must say (as I've said before elsewhere) that I was listening to the whole album and while I know this song was written about Bob Marley (One Love), and I wasn't looking for a spiritual reaction, I felt the words to this song the same way others have. It resonated in me that she was singing about the one ultimate heavenly love. A gift any way you take it, thanks to you both Pat and Neil.
Wasn't thinking or going in this direction listening to Pat's greatest hits, but it struck me when I heard this song that taken a different way, a beautiful song about Jesus and one love of God. Really felt it was an "undiscovered masterpiece"! Like she said, this song goes on with me forever....
Add *DON'T WALK AWAY* official video, please
She is finally up for R&R HOF and the Fan Vote is going on right now. We need to vote every day and get her in!
I totally agree,Pat benatar should be inducted into hall of fame, lol she is the reason i listen to rock n roll, didnt really like it until i heard her,and the first time i heard hit me with ur best shot,i was hooked, lol that was in 1980,and i was 13,a couple montgs later i blew the speakers out of my stereo playing jesses girl and crazy train, see what u started pat?thank you ,
In love with her... forever ! Tiny desk concert now !!!
There is a man who lives 2 sing the lions song..His name is $CBK$
2019 y sigue siendo mi canción favorita!!!
Bright lights, dark nights bring us all together. This song is strong and makes me think of thoughts not usually thought of. Thank you, Pat Benatar
I have yet to meet a "Christian" who lives this message.
Such a pure beautiful voice. I grew up listening to her music and saw her live in concert twice. Rock on!
I love song. Pat is both beautiful and a hard ass. Love her
"We are the Children of the thousand days... We are the people of the heart break..." 😉😍❤️👍
Hermosos recuerdos la mejor música ❤️❤️❤️
What a voice. From rocker to ballad. The woman can sing unlike the over-driven voice fry crapolo we seem to get today... That and the fact the lyrics aren't about pervy sex.
Pat Benetar
I love you
....think it... (!).
Ein Song der leider unterging. Nie zu hören. Kann ich nicht verstehen. Ein Welthit 🥰
A beautiful, yet under-rated, often forgotten power-ballad by Pat Benatar.
Has a very late 80's Peter Gabriel feel
Once there was a man, and he lived to sing the lion's song
As he traveled on the road of hope
One love is the light, shining over every mountain top
It will lead us to the higher ground
One day every heart will beat strong against the night
Let it be done right now
Once there was a man, and his words became a song of love
And his song became the golden dream
One love is the light, shining over everyone that believes
It will lead us to the higher ground
One day every eye will see truth before the light, let it be done right now
Some wait, so long, because our love is strong
This hard road traveled on will lead us home, forever
Hear the lion's song, voices cryin' like a desert wind
Yeah he's gone unto his father's land
Africa tonight, for we truly are one in our hearts
Colors woven in the golden dream
One day every eye will see truth before the light, let it be done right now
One day every voice will speak strong against the night
Let us be one right now - so let it be

Pat Benatar has the voice of an angel.
I love it song it is good ❤
This has to be a song about Jesus !
God this is a great song!!
Fvcking awesome, man. And Lori Singer was an extra (in the car with the kid, total babe). In a time when men and women were normal. I met Pat Benatar in Sydney in 2011. Unlike so many of her gay cult fans there & most female singers today, she isn't a man hater, as this song proves.
neil giraldo has always been one of the best but most underrated and unrecognized guitarists
"Somos los Niños de los Mil Días, la Gente del Camino Difícil..." Gracias Pat 😉😍🐻🌹❤️
min: 3:39 es la misma mujer que sale en el video de al corley "square rooms"
I have this song on disc. The very best of Pat Benatar. Love Love it!!!
Rico tema muy bueno
What a spiritual song. Praise God.
Beautiful song, always makes me cry. (I'm agnostic, don't believe in her god, but this song doesn't send me away screaming.)
How can this not have a million views???
The most underrated Pat Benatar song ever. This should've been a lot more popular and it shocks me that it wasn't.
And it was released twice as a single. The first time in 1988 as the second single from Wide Awake in Dreamland, then again in North America with the compilation album Best shots. It really is a beautiful song.
I wish, Pat would come to Mexico, her songs helped me to survive in the 80's.
I saw Pat Benatar a couple of times in concert in the Detroit area (Pine Knob) - great time. Still in love with her voice.
She's off the charts a beauty, voice and body
Pat Benatar.... One of the BEST female rockers of all time!
i like the Guitar! and especially the instrument itself :)
She's from Brooklyn (changed her name it was too Jewy) and went to Juliard
When she got married, she took her husband's name and decided to keep it when they got divorced.
Incredibly powerful song.
Rest in Peace, Dad!! I love you and miss you sooo much!!!
I hate when they use drum machines on an album especially when they have an awesome drummer in the band. I can sense a machine no matter how much they try to make it sound natural. They did not even try to mask it but that was "the sound" back then for rock and pop bands...but i hated it then and i hate it even more now. She has too much talent and so does the band to use things like auto tune and drum machines.
I disagree. Drum machines and even autotune aren't merely cheap imitations of "authentic music", they can be great songwriting tools if they inspire the right person's muse. The production on this song sounds gorgeous to me, synthetic drums and all. But then again, I'm a pianist who became curious with the synthesizer, so maybe I'm biased.
still an amazing song
All you people in past replys below try to get along both you atheists AND you believers. Pat is singing to you too. While i am here though just thought i'd say there is no heaven or hell just back to the blackness we were all in before we were all born and developed a consciousness....when we die of course....although some poor people get that before
One of my favorites of Pat Benatar.
So many fantastic songs from Pat, but this is simply one of the best songs ever recorded.
Classic
I remember listening to this all the time while playing Fallout 2, long ago. Somehow it seemed to go along with the game play.
Pat Benatar is Sigourney Weaver too??
this is such a good song
The LP "Wide Awake in Dreamland" is seriously under-rated.
let it be done wright now ,,, One Love In Jesus Name ,
In 1998, I was working in Milwaukee, and I knew she was going to be playing in La Crosse, some 300+ miles away! All day I was contemplating driving to see her, and finally, I told my boss I had to go. So off I went to La Crosse, speeding like a mad man, not knowing if I could even get a ticket. Luckily, I was able to get a good ticket, and watched the end of Loverboy's set. Midway through Pat's set, she sang this song, and at the end where she "OH's", her voice hit such high notes that my hair stood on end. That had never happened to before, or since. It was worth every mile, including the drive back. About 700 miles total. Hey, if you need your Pat fix- just saying!
Totally agree with you, I wish I could have gone in a concert back in the day.
She came to Calgary Alberta and never saw her live and man... what a show!!
The only thing I didn't like big time was that she missed this song in her set but all songs were 101% incredible
SHE IS AMAZING her voice is worth of big praise and accolades beyond crap of these times!
Lucky you!!!
you're an unsung rock and roll hero bro.........we are the people of the heartbreak but ascension beckons.....
That's a great story of adventure and memorable discovery, dude! 😁😉 Awesome. 👍
Sounds like an ode to Bob Marley. Love this song. One of my all-time favorites!
The only love worth while http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0085/0085_01.asp
Yeah, this was always my favorite of her songs. I could listen to it over and over again.
Man, I hear all these comments about the rock & roll hall of fame, and I can't believe anyone cares. Any hall of fame is governed by pogues- people who were not in most cases participants. Not in the hall of fame? Who the fuck cares? My hall of fame is my ears. the Radman
Le sommet, superbe
God its been years since I heard this. For me it was the outstanding track on a very good album
Always loved this song... And still do! :-)
I remember a President whom everyone loved. I remember a President who inspired. This song is for that hope and dreams that President, who in 1000 days, who was greater than the small men followed and led our country to these these dark days. He was murdered in a coup in service of a military industrial complex deducted to fight undeclared wars forever and to turn billionaires into trillionaires. They wipe their ass with the Constitution and they live to suck the blood of the powerless. We are far, far from that New Frontier. Forget the Eagle, now the symbol of these Fascist States of America is a woman in a Chanel dress, spattered with the blood and brains of her death husband. He name was Freedom, Liberty and the hope for all humankind. And it is gone. I seen the future and is "...a boot stamping on a human face — for ever".
Love her....but she needs to do a brand new album of all brand new material. Where in the hell is she?
I cant thank my Mum enough for bringing me up with fantastic music!! we adore Pat Benatar! our song is Love is a Battlefield!! Thank you Mummy!! you have made my life so much better!! I miss this originality of music, no half nakedness just pure talent!!
one of pats greatest songs i remember when it was released as a single i could not get the song out of head for days
1:54 that bridge: "Some wait so long, because our love is strong...... This hard road traveled on will lead us home,..... forever." ALWAYS sends shivers up my spine and makes me tear up a little bit It's beautiful
Her last good song.
Hey Paulla B - Your Love was the only love for me !
Miss you so much ! X
I wonder what album this song is from?
I don't know what album it originally was from, but it's on her Best Shots album. I had it on tape as a kid, and I wore it out within two years.
Wide Awake in Dreamland
From 1998
This song was written actually for a tribute to Bob Marley every Pat fan knows this!!!!
tommy pugliese pretty sure i had heard that somewhere years ago
Good singer, too bad we had to get rid of both those demons

Luke Guest, this will stand up forever. It’s a timeless classic.
I saw you in concert at the OMNI in Atlanta Georgia U.S.A. The Leader~ Thomas A. Sutor
I love this song this song really lifts my spirit up every time I here it I could listen to this song all day .
or she could be singing about every one old , young and of different race not something that didn't exist GILBERT!!!!
Hillary Pointer she's singing about God, the "Lion's Song".
love pat Bénatar
You do realize that she is singing about Jesus, right? Beautiful song. Church-worthy.
wow really.... do you always need to spew hatred... try rejoining the human race,,, we are about tolerance and love
Ur not talking about me r u Sandra Ferrara? I wasn't saying anything hateful I was just simply saying what Pat always said that it was a tribute to Bob Marley!!!
Christo Benno And the intolerance comes out. Always does with atheists. And you call Christians intolerant. You atheists are more intolerant than any Christian ever could be.
But this song is a tribute to Bob Marley like I said every Pat fan knows this!!!
no she is not
Love Pat B , My failure is not hearing this one before .. Very nice
..She looks awesome with long hair as well.
Mom, you bore kids with GOLDEN HEARTS so Stand TALL
I agree with DaninBranson. We should petition the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to vote Pat Benatar in. She is the ULTRA-Singer!!!
I agree, no question, she deserves the hall of fame!!
Amen to that one brother
I totally, agree!
My two favorite BP albums... In the heat of the night, and Wide Awake In Dreamland. Both have a feeling of reality.. first one because the production wasn't quite so 80's pop, second because the production was good and songwriting was so good.
+davedzone BP or PB?! I'm with you there - my two fave LP's too. So Sincere & My Clone Sleeps alone from the first LP are it's two best songs & Too Long A Soldier and this are the best on WAID. (oh, not forgetting the stunning All Fired Up!)
This song should be a hymn for our generation. That's Gen X!
+Risk Romer you would be CORRECT
+Landsharrk “Sharrk” Bites one day every eye will see the truth before ☆LIGHT☆
Amazing Song, Amazing Singer. What a voice !!!
Arguable one of Pat Benatar's greatest songs of all fucking time. My personal favorite song of hers! :-)

Loved Pat since she started singing The Queen of Rock and Roll in my humble opinion Her range blows me away I love you and your voice. Having suffered depression my whole life I've listened to your music for many years and it'd helped me get through it this life we live
@Martin Young we are blessed to have pat benetar shes awesome
I had gone through depression as well. And yes, Pat Benatar's music like this obscure but magnificent song had lifted me up. 🎤
