This is a beautiful song whoever the lead singer is he has a gorgeous voice. I love how David Cuts in and sings his part. The partridges were such great actors, they really look like they are singing

This is a very beautiful song I never get tired of listening to it and even singing with it the unknown vocalist did a great job and we even have David do a couple lines in it and then back to the unknown singer but still it's a beautiful song and I never get tired of hearing it

Early in the first season of THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY, almost all of it is sung by an unknown studio singer; but at 1:12, David sings two lines of the bridge. That's it! It's said that this was his vocal test, to see if he could really hold up as the lead singer on the show. Well, he's wonderfully clear and vibrant, wiping away the tones of the nameless singer! And a young star was born...
OMG really? I never knew that. I always wondered why they only used his voice for only two lines in this song. I can't believe they actually went that far to test him. They couldn't just audition him once, they had to do all this extensive testing for them to realize he was a great singer? LOL! Just my opinion, the song only comes alive when Cassidy opens his mouth.

I am Amy Charron the daughter of Mark who wrote this sweet song. Thanks for the you tube. He wrote many great hits and was a great dad. Tragically he died in 1994 after a brutal mugging he survived from 1985. In a way I'm. glad he wasn't around to endure all I've been through. Google my fight for survival.

David Cassidy had the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen on a guy. I wonder why he lip synchs to another voice and then for 5 seconds in the song they use his real voice. So strange.
LuvTadnDixie, A lot of the album was done prior to his entry to this effort. "To be lovers" I have heard has been known as one of the show's bloopers. No disrespect was meant to anyone, it's still a great tune/show video.

Believe the producers didn’t know if David could sing well enough and they insured themselves with the unknown singer doing vocals.
i heard that there were alot of mistakes in season 1 & that one of him lip syncs to a song is one of them!
Supposedly the powers that be recorded his voice at a slower speed to sound higher when played at "normal" speed, so he would sound younger than his actual age. DC was 20, KP was late teens.
