Ozzy Osbourne - You Can't Kill Rock & Roll Lyrics

[Daisley - Osbourne - Rhoads]

How many times
Can they fill me with lies
And I listen again
Twisting the truth
And they're playin' around with my head, O.K.
The things they will do and the things they will say
But they don't really understand
Tears fill my eyes when I hear all the cries
For the reason today

And they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't imagine what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay

Lookin' through eyes of time
Mirrors reflecting their stories untrue
Promises, promises
Telling me all of my glories overdue
How many times have I heard it before
And I'll probably hear it again
King of a thousand knights, pawn in a table light
Losing to you

And they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't imagine what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay

Even the rhymes that they
Give me in times of confession ain't true
Outcome is obvious
All for them, none for us
Meaning you too
The things they will do and the things they will say
When they don't really understand
Fear of rejection, I need their protection
I'm making a stand

'Cos they don't really know even what they're talkin' about
And I can't imagine what empty heads can achieve
Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock & roll, it's here to stay

Leave me alone, don't want your promises no more
'Cos rock & roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
I'm born to rock & roll, I'm here to stay, yeah

  8. N.... B....

I’m always disappointed that the solo at the end of the song is faded out. Randy was really letting it bleed there.

  9. A.... S....

    Mellow enough...not to be mellow...

Bob Daisley u Australian Legend wrote this, stunning outtro

  13. L.... ....

Wow! The first song fingerstyle theme, reminds me TOTALLY of Iron Maiden´s "Prodigal Son"...... Question is: Who copied who? haha =0

  14. d.... s....

    Definitely his best album.

  15. M.... M....

    2020 and still rock’n

  16. A.... M....

Bob Daisley, the "actual" bass guitarist on BOTH "Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of A Madman" (not Rudy Sarzo) was the musical architect for both said LP recordings (33 1/3 RPM). But never received the credit(s). Ripped off by Ozzy & Sharon. *Ask Jake E. Lee about their "M.O." amjmetaltomotown

  17. n.... ....

No More Tours 2 has been canceled. I was hoping to see him at least once more. The song says it best though. "You can't kill rock n roll."

  18. t.... g....

we all love you ozzy... thanks for the contributions to music

  19. B.... G....

This will always be some jam to crank up. Providing you truly like actual vocal and instrument and have capacity of speakers to appreciate..ozzy...enough said

  20. B.... M....

#1 in history of recorded media...

  21. J.... j....

Unfortunately Oz man was wrong. What is being passed off as "rock and roll" these days is TERRIBLE.. I'd like to think if Randy was still with us it wouldn't suck as bad as it does 😔

  22. B.... A....

Glad I had the chance to see Randy Rhoads in concert twice. Blizzard of Oz tour I had nose bleed seats but it still kicked ass. Diary of a Madman tour I had second row and was only about 10 feet away from Randy. Unbelievable to watch him do his thing right in front of you from that close. RIP Randy. You are missed everyday.

  23. A.... P....

Guitar-wise there is A LOT going on here. When I first learned to play this song by ear, I was totally blown away. There are at least 6 guitar parts on here. Randy had to have some sort of orchestral knowledge because there are just so many guitar parts being played at the same time.

  24. W.... W....

To those who thumbed this down.

I don't know who you are.
    I don't have any money,
But what I do have are a particular and unique set of skills that ive developed over the past few decades. Skills that have become a nightmare to people like you
I will find you and I will kill you.

  25. O.... ....

The little boy on the cover of the album is Ozzy's son, Louis at age 4 at the time.

  26. g.... ....

    Whos here in 2020?

  27. J.... J....

    AWESOME TUNE,
    AWESOME RANDY,
    AWESOME OZZY,
    LONG LIVE ROCK-N-ROLL. 2020.

  28. e.... ....

So fkn cool how after almost 40 years this STILL gives me goosebumps just like the first time I first heard it. Equally as cool are the memories of how this shook up America's fantasy of the perfect Walton's mountain family structure, and how genuinely frightened parents and the religious right wing conservatives were of this powerful music they couldn't understand. To THEM it represented all things EVIL and a total loss of control over their young generation. To US it represented the soundtrack of GOOD TIMES and our WILD YOUTHFUL REBELLION -we got through it all with no harm done, really. -(well, not counting one bat, one dove, some eardrums, and a few billion innocent brain cells ha ha ha!)

    e.... ....

OH...AND SOME ANTS...MUSTN'T FORGET THOSE LIL' BUGGERS :)

  29. c.... g....

One of my top 10 of all time,,,,,name says it all

A lot of people don't know that the little boy is his son Jack...

  31. d.... d....

When the white knight speaking backwards. Don't forget what the doorman said. After you.

  32. d.... d....

We plugged it in. Datavise your neural nanonics. Read Peter Hamilton.

  65. S.... H....

Rodney Adams, I Love Ya Brother! I dated your sister before you passed and if not for her, we would not have met. You requested this song at your funeral as you knew the cancer was taking you. This song was played for you and I never felt more peace in my life at that point. I will see you on the other side Brother.

  66. r.... m....

I want to follow the ending into that next dimension....... forever!

  86. J.... s....

What are we talking about...major influence...crank it!!

  87. r.... m....

this song is about how fucked up people can be

  88. A.... W....

Rock and Roll can't be killed, it's been declared dead multiple times since the 1970s and it keeps coming back stronger than ever. Keep your ears peeled in the 2020s, Greta Van Fleet, love 'em or hate 'em made the recording industry take notice and they're signing rock bands again for the first time since the mid-2000s.

  89. K.... B....

You can't kill Ozzy songs for fans

  90. B.... P....

How could any rock fan dislike this?
I was fortunate to see Ozzy one month before Randy died. Cincinnati, Ohio in February of 1982. I could tell a story about that day.

  91. D.... T....

I love this song until now 2019

  92. M.... M....

legendary outro solo, listen to the almost vocal line hammer on pull offs at the end

    M.... M....

It's pretty fuckin' great, I agree....BUT.....Jake E. Lee's outro solo on 'Bark at the Moon' is even better 6)

  93. M.... A....

    Que música ruim do Ozzy

  94. L.... R....

Give some love for Tommy Aldridge (drums) and Rudy Sarzo (bass). They were quit a rhythm section!

  95. W.... H....

I don't always listen 2 Ozzy but when I do so do my neighbors ok I'm lying we always listen 2 Ozzy

  96. d.... d....

I got to see the ozzy/randy line up in 82 when they came to town. here is an expression of rock n roll being a religion, I think.

  97. L.... W....

I sing this to my little baby to keep it alive, we love you ozzy!
