Owens, Buck - Under Your Spell Again Lyrics

[Chorus:]
You've got me under your spell, again,
Sayin' those things, again
Makin' me believe that you're just mine.
You've got me dreamin' those dreams, again
Makin' those things, again,
I've gotta take you back just one more time

I swore the last time that you let me down
That I wouldn't see you if you came around,
But I can't tell my heart what's right or wrong
And I've been so lonely since you've been gone

[Chorus:]
You've got me under your spell, again,
Sayin' those things, again
Makin' me believe that you're just mine.
You've got me dreamin' those dreams, again
Makin' those things, again,
I've gotta take you back just one more time

[Instrumental]

Well, everybody tells me that I'm a fool
That, I never should have put my faith in you
And way down deep inside I guess I know it's true
But no one else can make me feel the way you do.

[Chorus:]
You've got me under your spell, again,
Sayin' those things, again
Makin' me believe that you're just mine.
You've got me dreamin' those dreams, again
Makin' those things, again,
I've gotta take you back just one more time...

Owens, Buck Under Your Spell Again Comments

The Father of country rock. Buck was a real genius with a photographic memory. A lot of musicians are bad business people but not Buck. At one time he had a net worth of over 100 million dollars.

Don Rich would have been 78 today-he was originally hired by Buck as a fiddler, but then he taught him guitar and the rest is history. From Wikipedia:
"On July 17, 1974, Owens' best friend and Buckaroos guitarist Don Rich was killed when he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a guard rail on Highway 1 in Morro Bay, where he was to have joined his family for vacation. Owens was devastated. "He was like a brother, a son and a best friend," he said in the late 1990s. "Something I never said before, maybe I couldn't, but I think my music life ended when he died. Oh yeah, I carried on and I existed, but the real joy and love, the real lightning and thunder is gone forever."Owens would never fully recover from the tragedy, neither emotionally nor professionally."
The whole Buckaroo's band defined the Bakersfield Sound.

Funny how Buck began keeping Don in the background, compared to the earlier days on the Buck Owens Ranch, when Don was an equal partner!

    unusual key. g#

    D.... D....

The song is actually in the key of A major. On Hee Haw, Buck usually kept the instruments in standard E tuning. However, in earlier years, Buck tuned downed a half step to E flat, which is why most people are used to the key of Ab/G#.
