Owens, Buck - Sweethearts In Heaven (Duet) Lyrics

[Chorus - Buck & Rose:]
Will there be sweethearts in heaven
After we cross the line
If the angels have sweethearts
Then I want you for mine

[Buck:]
If I should go first and leave you behind
To face life alone, bare this in mind
[Rose:]
That I'll be a-waiting if heaven's my fate
To take you by the hand just inside the pearly gates

[Chorus:]
Will there be sweethearts in heaven
After we cross the line
If the angels have sweethearts
Then I want you for mine

[Instrumental]

[Buck:]
I'd be a tramp and sleep in the street
Or I'd be a begger with rags on my feet
[Rose:]
If I knew for sure when the time comes to part
Someday in heaven you'd be my sweetheart

[Chorus:]
Will there be sweethearts in heaven
After we cross the line
If the angels have sweethearts
Then I want you for mine...

    Beautiful country.

I might add this. I was surprised when I learned that Buck was a Bakersfield boy. Bakersfield was an agriculture center, not music. But Buck put the place firmly on the Country Music map in spite of anything.

This is unquestionably my favorite from Buck Owens. Nothing else he ever did has the emotional impact of Sweethearts in Heaven. And I'm not even sure why it has that effect on me and has stayed with me through all the years since I first heard it on the radio. When I started looking for Buck Owens this was the first thing I searched for. Buck Owens is a unique American Music treasure and I'm so glad his work is being preserved on YouTube.

man, do we country fans ever miss Buck and his Buckaroos. What an amazing band . Bakersfield" sound is in heaven certainly. I believe this was the second Buckaroo band. Not sure who played the fiddle. But sounds like Tom Brumley on steel. mos60
