Owens, Buck - Hollywood Waltz Lyrics

Springtime, and the acacias are blooming
Southern California will see one more day
Dreamland, and bus'ness is booming,
The birds are a singing as I drift away

She looks another year older,
From too many lovers who used her and ran
But some nights, oh, she looks like an angel
And she's always willing to hold you again

So give her this dance,
She can't be forsaken
Learn how to love her with all of her faults

She gave more than she's taken,
And I'll go down doing the Hollywood Waltz

Springtime and the lady is grieving
The lovers just stand there with nothing to say
They got what they wanted,
They're packing and leaving
To look for another to love the same way

So give her this dance,
She can't be forsaken
Learn how to love her
With all of her faults
She gave more than she's taken
And I'll go down doing the Hollywood Waltz
The Hollywood Waltz

    Very passioned interpretation...

Maybe one of my favorite Eagles songs of all time; yet, they never play it. This was the real Eagles when "country" was more than just a word followed by "rock." I wouldn't be surprised if Frey and Henley don't play it because they don't want to pay Bernie Leadon and his brother Tom royalties.

    d.... ....

    Must be a good reason.
Too good a tune for there not to be.

    d.... ....

@William Peddle There was. One of the writers of this song was Bernie Leaden, one of the co-founders of the Eagles and Bernie sang lead on it. But after he left the group, the band dropped the song from their act, feeling it was HIS song.

    d.... ....

Tomkat 56 no, Bernie didn’t sing lead on The Hollywood Waltz, Don Henley did.

Great version of a great song. But what else would you expect from Buck?

Was going to say that too. Saw this on Hee Haw. Great Eagles tune from One of These Nights Album, when they were a Country Rock band. Common Thread album shows Eagles country roots via Don Henley from Denton, Texas.

Why has no one uploaded the proper version of this song???????? Eagles 4 life!

  6. W.... ....

Wonder how it would have sounded with Don on high harmony?

  7. b.... ....

this is definitely Buck singing over the Eagles track

Couldn't find the eagles version of this tune on YT, but found this Buck Owens cover. This really talks about the LA Basin...the beautiful blue acacias in bloom every spring. Anyway, this is one of my favorite Eagles' tune. Enjoy!

Wow, huge Eagles fan here and before tonight i never knew this cover existed! It's like listening to the Eagles with Buck in place of Don Henley. Amazing!

@kfeike I don't doubt that whatsoever that they did.Let's not forget that Bernie Leadon has solid bluegrass credentials and that he played in the Flying Burrito Brothers with Gram Parsons, who's regarded as the Godfather of crossover.

I had no idea Buck Owens went so far as to cover the Eagles!

  12. K.... ....

GREAT cover of an Eagles song.

  13. c.... ....

    Eagles song.

  14. w.... ....

It sounds funny, but I don't actually have much in the way of Buck's music...always liked him, but never really collected his stuff! If I get those songs, though, I'll add 'em :)

Good selection and a good find, ws. We need to get some of Buck's biggest hits in original studio form on to YouTube ("Act Naturally", "Love's Gonna Live Here", "Before You Go", "My Heart Skips A Beat", "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail", and "Tall, Dark Stranger"), as they are not on YouTube at this time. You think you can pull your magic off again, ws?? Thanks if you can.

    Thanks for listening! :)

Great tune, thank you very much for posting! 5*****
