Opeth - Wreath Lyrics
Falling inside again
This nightmare always the same
Still never enough
Halting at the brink of discovery
Moving into the darkness
Dragging me down and under
Entangled and undone at once
Old memories
I'm not in need but wish to know
What are the tragedies
The history behind the walls
Pacing further down
Familiar children's laughter
Dissonant and out of time
And their eyes are dead
Wearing the mask of a ghost
Smeared all across my skin
Rotten earth and insects
Endless night
Always preserving the calm
Movement behind
Bleeding animals in a field of fire
There is no absolution
Death is but a fairytale
They are mere visions
They are afraid of me
Clear insight
A smoke is rising nearby
Dust covering my coat
Blend together to spell my name
Pale, covered me with sweat
There are no words left
Sole provider of death
Distorted faith in myself
Human harvest burning
Blackest pages turning
Twisted perception come true
Captured in dreams connected
Staring right back
Spiritual decay - Still seeking
Frozen in time
Mourn this departure - All watching
Calling me back
Closure to bleak matters - I'm leaving
End of a search
Coming of morning
Calling me back
Closure to bleak matters - I'm leaving
End of a search
Coming of morning - Returning

Opeth Wreath Comments
Opeth = Epic
6:11 one of the best riffs ever
I WOULD Dare say... This Might be OPETH'S HEAVIEST SONG EVER! It is Magnificent!!!!
No metal band from 99-05 could touch this line up
Somehow overlook this album but just realized it is one of my favorite Opeth albums
2:45 oscuridad y magia a la vez.
I miss Mikeal Akerfeldt heavy vocals in Opeth and Bloodbath :(
He's 45 and been doing it 30 years, the body can only take so much. If you want some kick ass death metal check out Gorguts live Brutal assault. Luc Lemay has similar vocals and is a beast.
God bless
Extremely underrated and my favourite off the album. The riffs are so omnious and growls are coming straight from the throat of the devil.
👏👏👏👍🏻
God, this is one of my fav tracks by Opeth so far
Happy 17th birthday Deliverance!!!
Morbid angel influence
2nd Opeth track I ever heard. 9:00 is so evocative.
I discovered this album a few weeks ago. I recently stopped smoking weed, will not do it for a few months, but I cannot wait to hear this awesome stuff once I am high again because its as psychedelic as it is heavy. Especially wreath sends me on a trip like no other song, the guitars, the doom like environment... simply amazing. Its like being lost in a dark forest and discovering your darkest fears and learning to deal with them in order to survive
Corax if you enjoy a good relaxing chill vibe. I suggest you listen to the whole “Damnation” album. To me personally is they best soft album they have.
@Madd Mike Thank you very much, but at this point I do know every album :D Damnation is great. I love "Closure" very much
boy do i miss martin lopez
Nothing gets more opeth than this song..
I've felt empowered and much despair...
A bad and a happy sound all in one...
Fuck I miss the old opeth..

My guitar teacher and I once got into a debate about whether or not the opening riff in the song is in 12/8 or 4/4 triplets. I'd love to hear thoughts on this.
@Filip Managania I'm a person who just sees it like... if you're going to be machine a measure of 12 8th notes, just call it 12/8.
@Kevin Goeltz And that's a healthy view, imo when the triplets are an addision to the regular pace, than call it 4/4 triplets
@Filip Managania Interesting.
If it moved from triplet feel to normal 4/4 at some point, I'd say 4/4 triplets. But the pulse stays 12/8 or 6/4ish at the same tempo for eight minutes or so, so I'd go with 12/8. Really just two different ways of saying the same thing though.
@Nicholas Sinnett Yeah, you're probably right.
Killer riffs, grovy melodies, kick ass solo, intense growls and dark lyrics. What's not to like?
How do I start likeing the growls?
Read the lyrics then you can start hearing the words from the growls
@B e always works for me too
@B e got it
Keep your focus on the instrumentation -- guitar riffs, solos, and drumming. Growls are an acquired taste, it'll stop bothering you once you learn to immerse yourself into the music being played. Also, keep exploring various bands playing similar sort of music.
Think of growling like its vocal distortion.
Opening riff is reminiscent of Morbid Angel, specifically Fall from Grace.
Me as a 29 year old in 1999...."yeah, let me give it a few spins being that I spent 20 bucks on this cd.... im not a death metal guy but this is supposedly one of the top albums of the year."
Within 4 months I have every Opeth CD ever made.
This album didn't come out in 1999, it came out in 2002. Just sayin'.
@theMetal973 Well, he didn't specifically say that the CD he played was Deliverance. Could have been Still Life.
what a masterpiece..
I never realized how cursed the album art was until now...
It's funny cuz i was never able to understand how it relates to the damnation album art. Now i realize theyre literally just meant to be the exact opposite of eachother.
the face in the mirror...
The face in the mirror is the same figure you see on Damnation...?
1:42 - 5:07 holy shit
*Drums intro*
"OAH"
That's Death Metal for ya
10:34
ooooOOOOOA#[email protected]!(!%
@Christopher Norris love that shit!!
Now this is the Opeth I remember and love lml
Heavy, but also groovy and hypnotic. Cheers to all who made thier way here
GROOVY BABY
This just sounds like Bloodbath lol, when Akerfeldt used to do awesome growls
It does but I dig the more opethy sound
I would say this is more influenced by Morbid Angel’s Blessed are the Sick (Michael is a massive fan of MA). The opening riff reminds me of ‘Fall from Grace’.
Lyrics :
Confront me unholy ones
Bastard saints scorn of the earth
I summon thee now poison me
Death under will burn in my soul
Exalt me enemies of the lamb
Intrude, we are of one
Under will, I walk the path of sin
With your spells I die again
Raise me from mortal
My will be your will
My words speak your words
Your pains raise me to bliss
What of this anger now
Received to lance your enemy
I feel the energy
The poison moves in me
I spill blood
Scorn of the earth, I witness
In rapture I'm born again
Scorn of the light, I bear scorn
In rapture I'm reborn
Morbid Angel Rapture
Bred from the bowels, sheep one and all.
Bound by the dorctrine of lies.
Too fucked human shit, I shout blasphemy.
I shall make my way, through to the promised land.
Yeah we all know Morbid Angel buddy.
Might not be the best opeth album but learning Deliverance riffs is way funner then learning riffs for any other album
To me is right there with Blackwater Park, Still Life, Ghost Reveries and My arms, Your Hearse.
Not the best??is like in the top 5 of best opeth albums
1nf3rnal D3str0y3r Still Life > BWP > MAYH > Ghost Reveries > Watershed > Damnation > Deliverance
5:06 - 5:40 (brutal solo)
Hahahaha, nah.
Still tasty though :)
Proof that Peter wrote some amazing solos when he was in opeth, but it seems Mikael disagrees..
I am currently practising that solo on guitar and just wanted to inform you that I always use your comment to skip to that part so thank you for that!
the composition of this song seems like an ancient alchemical chant
If you know any lemme know
This song is so heavy the middle portion lulls me to sleep. ;)
i used to go to sleep listening to Catch 33 from the 'shuggah back in my college days... my eyelids really enjoyed that album :)
is it just me or is that opening drum fill like, rrreally reminiscent of the one on Kreator's 'Pleasure to Kill' (1986)?
Jacob Johnson Yea... Or Primitive Ways by Death
Those bongos remind me of Soen 😃🖤👍🏻
ax is the drummer of soen they also have the bass player from tool
@Johnathan Thorne No. Martin Lopez is Soen's drummer...Also Justin Chancellor has never been on Soen...
@Invisus Machina well shit
@Johnathan Thorne Why spread information that you can see is false in 2 minutes of research?
@Toprak i never looked it up i just always knew it was opeth drums forsure
OLLLLDD MEM-OR-EEEES
One of my very favorite band with Summoning, Moonsorrow, Amon Amarth...
