So in the book Jonas is 11 and 12 and in the movie he looks around 17.

I like the book better but the songs good

I love movies and books about dystopian societies. The Giver is my favorite!

What a beautiful feeling is that to see people gathered under this song and sharing the same feeling with each other. Appreciating the life as it is. Appreciating that we feel sth not like a robot. A life without the feelings would be too boring and would be too difficult to stand for in my opinion. This movie showed me that I should accept it as it is and appreciate the things I have. Great movie. I feel lucky that I've seen it. Every time I watch, I have tears in my eyes and feeling so deep about my life.

"Today i took a walk in the clouds" is talking about living in a "perfect" world and nothing being wrong. (At least thats what I think)
"Today i felt a switch in my vein" is about the injections and how they take away tour emotion.

No, because this might have been forgotten but I hope it hasn't, because this shows the true value of love and of emotions and what it would be like without them. We take things for granted so often and even though I still will, this movie let's me truly see again what everything is worth and the value everything holds in who we are and what we are.

Almost like a remake of "Logan's Run".

i watched this movie back in 8th grade (2014-15) it was a book project, we all read it and at the end of the year when we finished the book, we got to watch it and man it was beautiful, i cried then and today i’m watching it again and once again cried

This movie is so underrated. This is one of the best movie that I'd ever watched!

I didn't watch this in a cinema, I watched it at home, but when I listen to this I can imagine walking out of the theatre and seeing the light of day and feeling the warmth of the sun. And I get that epic happy feeling of walking out of an awesome movie. Wow

The Giver practically is today's society.... people try to put a label on abortion as if it's a "termination" when it's actually ending another human being's life. That scene in the movie broke my heart and him saving the baby was the best part of the entire movie!!

Just finished watching the film for the first time. I have to admit, when I first saw the trailer, I thought they had lost the meaning and depth of the book to satisfy a shallow general audience, but I was utterly astounded when I finally convinced myself to watch it. What a faithful and heartfelt adaptation! For those who havent read the book, I highly recommend it as it is exceptional as well.
