Oh Hellos, The - I Was Wrong Lyrics
I was born at the hands of the potter
And I was torn from the start
I was torn between my god and my father
I was born at the dawn of our folly
As I took from the tree that was rotting
I took my chance and bit down deep
The weight of the world was crippling
Now I'll hide my shame with woven leaves
I was wrong
And I'm so, so sorry
I knew you'd never forgive me
But I was wrong

Oh Hellos, The I Was Wrong Comments
I’m Stan and I was wrong
I’m singing the Stan wrong song
So the line “I was torn between my god and my father” always threw me off, because the “father” in this case, is God, right? But I looked up the chords to play it and that line is written as “my god and my Father” implying that I was right in assuming the “Father” is God, but the god referred to later is more in the sense of something that is followed or worshipped in place of God, so in this case, sin and the devil. Man these guys are lyrical geniuses.
I was born, I was born
I was born at the hands of the potter
And I was torn from the start
I was torn between my God and my Father
I was born, I was born
I was born at the dawn of our folly
And I was young, and stubborn to the bone
As I took from the tree that was rotting
I took my chance and bit down deep
The weight of the world was crippling
Now I'll hide my shame with woven leaves
I was wrong, I was wrong, I was wrong
And I'm so so, and I'm so so sorry
I was wrong, I was wrong, I was wrong
And I'm so so, and I'm so so sorry
I knew you'd never forgive me
I was wrong, I was wrong
And I'm so so, and I'm so so
I am sorry
This might just be me, but this seems to be a humanized retelling of Adam and Eve.
I definitely is

lorella graffeo yeah! me too! I've just watched it on a satellite tv channel in Brazil. awesome song.
Wait is this gospel music? It's so damn good, It send a really deep message to me, but not via worship.
Same. Not exactly that religious. My family is, but I've slowly waned away from religion. Still love their music with everything I got though.
I definitely see a TON of gospel influence and representation in this album and the one following it
this song is amazing :-) my friends say that the song deserves more publicity, but i think that it sends a deeper message when the right people listen to it
That's honestly how I feel with all of the music I listen to
Some say that a mystery is a truth, once hidden, now revealed ;-)
This song makes me want to cry; it's so powerful
Praise God that though we are wrong he loves us! He forgives us!
I love this response to this song. <3
3:45 I wept a little. then I wept a lot.
Such powerful lyrics in all their songs.
My favorite album in a long time
Great stuff, thanks for the upload!
