Oberst, Conor - Animal Prints Lyrics
I was talking in my sleep
But your name was never mentioned
I'll sell all my race car shit to keep you and the baby
I've got so many sad words,
She said "I'll never wear that. I look so terrible in animal prints"
But you was forever giving me a sore throat
You came on strong only cause I hadn't seen it yet
You came on strong and looked for hidden meanings
Cause I like all that lazy shit

Oberst, Conor Animal Prints Comments
Interesting take on Cassadaga, I feel a little different. I feel like the production and arrangements are really impressive and I tend to think of it as their best sounding record. But I feel like it was his songwriting that was a little less impactful than normal for whatever reason.
*Remembers I was “emo as fuck”*
Is the content for the slip mats still going
Ok you cannot say anything bad about bright eyes' 2010 album ok happy accidents is fantastic songwriting
All of his albums are good. You should be ashamed that you don't "get" his stuff since Cassadaga. It's not hard to "get."
I know i'm not out of my emo phase because I still listen to Bright Eyes in my 20s
Tom Langford I’m 16 and I think they are my favorite bang right now
Review fevers and mirrors as a classic u funking coward
Lily D. AMen
PLEASE REVIEW: BETTER OBLIVION COMMUNITY CENTER!!! THANKS!
Conor Oberst is a god. Also Fevers and Mirrors is the greatest Bright Eyes album imo
I don't know if this is a bandwagon, but I'm Wide Awake It's Morning is their best for me. It's so beautifully tragic. Fevers and Mirrors is still about as good as it though
I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning is undoubtedly their best album and my second favourite. I dunno tho, something about Fevers and Mirrors speaks to me
@Ryo純度 I get that. The production of Fevers and Mirrors just seems so personal in a lotta the tracks.
I would say I’m wide awake it’s morning but I love that album
I also don't get why ruminations verses the album salutations
Anthony did you like the people's key though?
I can’t believe you didn’t like Upside Down Mountain. I don’t trust your opinion anymore.
fuku! Lifted is great, I love bright eyes, minus the grainy fills. 'You will you will you will you will you will you will you will you will, you will...you will.' Greatest lyric
Fight me! You don't insult my God like that.
I think I would classify as one of those bohemian type people that hung on Connors career dearly.
I hitch hiked around Canada and played covers of a lot of his tunes and tunes from Monsters of Folk. I've loved him for awhile but got to a point where I really couldn't emotionally handle engaging in him as I wasn't going through the same motions.
Ive been listening to this album a lot this week, probably about 3-4 listens front to back and am feeling very amazed by the record, if feel it shows how although he probably platued years ago that he's very capable of integrating his talent and years of making music and producing something as significant as his other works.
In saying that I really enjoyed Casadaga and People's Key.
I feel people lose sight of musicians when they have such an established formula for writing, maybe feel the best is behind them but Salutations/Ruminations for me displayed a Connor argueably at his best as a functioning human.
cassadega is better than all those shitty emo albums back in the day tho...and so is practically all his solo stuffs.
Upside down mountain is criminally underrated.
BreakingSloth AGREED
There isn't a bad song on that album. Definitely one of his best!
Conorthony oberstano
Is that a Mercyful Fate album behind him? Don’t Break the Oath? Hells fuck!!!
Angry Comment: Upside down mountain was good. Song writing on that album was insane.
I love bright eyes and conor in general
Emo? You're well read in music. So what did Ian MaCkaye and Guy Picciotto say about Emo? Omaha is a very different town to grow up in and a lot of the people in the music scene are well read and when not talking about music literature, philosophy, or political theory were not hard to talk about. You did make some good points about some of his albums getting kind of singular in the middle to later part of the 2000's but he was inspired and just went with it. I did like the new Deseparecidos album b/c Conor doesn't ever let the constraints of what people think he's going/should do stop him, like all good artists/musicians should do. I saw him last year here in San Antonio and it was odd b/c I grew up watching him in Commander Venus, solo stuff, Bright Eyes, etc.(haven't seen him yet in Deseparedcidos)and seeing him play in a different town other than Omaha and having to pay to actually see him was a surreal experience altogether. Over all you did a good and fair review of the album I love the song about Franklin Loyd Wright's lover, that showed an example of how well read a lot of the musicians in Omaha are and how it's to write a song referencing something other than the same boring concepts in the same over used way. Good job and have a good one.
I think you nailed it on the head. I am STILL listening to this album.
#fishhead
Cassadaga production lacking? HAHAHAHA ok
love this album. conor never ceases to amaze me.
I hate this album, and I hate its update Salutations even more. The worst part is that stupid harmonica, ruins any track it's on. Also Oberst's cryptic lyrics reach an all time high (or low?) of completely flying over my head and having no emotional resonance. Why so many name drops? The only one I recognized was Robin Williams. Not a single song on this album hit home with me in any way, except maybe Counting Sheep a little bit. I loved Bright Eyes, but his solo work is just off the mark. My opinion of course, don't flame me.
ff789n10 you sound like you might just be dumb?
review salutations
It's a solid 8 Ampfernee Faptony
I'm angry
cassadaga was a brilliant album simply BRILLIANT you are so wrong but hey it is your opinion so i cant knock you on that. Also upside down mountain is also a brilliant album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Conor Oberst is the Ben Roethlisberger of music.
didn't know Conor raped someone
All of his work is good but Cassadaga was definitely a good album. Even recommended by Johnny Depp: named Cassadaga one of his "favorite things" of 2007. IGN 9.1/10 4 out of 5 stars (LA Times, Slant, Rolling Stone)
Did you listen to The People's Key? that was one of his riskiest yet best. SO GOOD
This review has accomplished nothing.
I love conor and first aid kit and bright eyes
I absolutely love this album
But of course I love every album of his.
I watch every goddamn theneedledrop video, even reviews of albums I know I'll never listen to. But I watch these videos, I dredge through the 1-8s, but every year, just once, sometimes twice if we're lucky, we get a "To Be Kind" or "To Pimp A Butterfly", and Fantano is right about those high numbers, because he gives them out like they used to give of Medal of Honors-- only if you lost at least three extremities, saved over a dozen people, and died. In that sequence. So, it's worth it. (Mostly)
I feel like "The People's Key" was a step up from "Cassadaga"
one of the best albums I've heard in a very long time.. i honestly can't stop playing it. its simplicity and honesty is something i can't shake. its oberst in his element. this is where he belongs. just like early bright eyes or early recordings. when he's faced with a challenge, in life particularly, he prevails. this will no doubt go down as one of my favorite albums of all time.
wow, this guy is so surface. yah, you wouldn't get conor bc ur so quick to move onto the next thing. gr8 job. u get it.
Is this cymbal thing over?
I have never heard of Conor or bright eyes, But I love this album.
I don't know why but i just prefer conor oberest in lo fi and this sounded to clean i guess
I saw Conor live a couple days ago and he mentioned that the verse about Ronald Reagan is actually about his grandfather.
Please review ChloexHalle sugar symphony ep
"...even if the song doesn't display the usual finesse that Conor brings to the guitar..." I am an unashamed Conor fanboy, and no, he doesn't usually ever have finesse. That's something so indicative of his style. That's the eternal struggle he is always grappling with. From Road to Joy on Wide Awake, It's Morning: "Well I could have been a famous singer. If I had someone else's voice." He is self-conscious and aware of his lack of skill in music, but the point is catharsis and wallowing.
Also, what about the THREE Conor Oberst albums between People's Key and Upside Down Mountain? lol
"DAY-SUH-PAIR-UH-SEE-DOSE"
fucking embarassing
Thanks again Anthony =)

No Jagwar Ma Every Now and Then review? are they that bad? I think that album is great, Conor Oberst just cries every record he makes, the most depressing shit recycled over and over although his lyrics are very well thought out
"He misses Christopher Hitchens, and I agree."
I'm feeling a strong 8 to a 9 on this comment.

How about a review of the new Jagwar Ma?
For you're next interview I am highly recommending "Bucket List Project" by Saba. It literally came out just a few hours ago as of this comment and I'm listening to it currently as I'm writing this and I must say it's a damned good album, Saba has another mixtape\Ep "comfort zone" and it is also very good in my opinion but I feel like bucket list project will appeal to a much wider audience and I think you'll very much enjoy it. :)
If you're at a Kevin Gates show you pretty much deserve to be kicked in the face.
