Oak Ridge Boys, The - In A Tender Moment Lyrics
5 o’clock this morning
The night is giving in.
I come home without warning
And quietly let myself in.
And as I watch you sleeping
I know that I’m in your dreams somewhere
And that you still care.
[CHORUS:]
And in a tender moment like this
When all I can hear is you breathing.
In a tender moment like this
You know you’ve got me believing
That loving you is all there is.
In a tender moment like this.
Seven days that I’ve been away
Are seven too many for me,
But you know that I’ve got to play
It’s me they’re paying to see.
And as I watch you sleeping
You slowly open your eyes.
That crowd fades to a distant roar
And I’m home once more.
[CHORUS:]
All of my life I’ve been burning
With a fire that’s swept me alone
But how I would trade every song, every place
For this one moment alone.
[CHORUS:]
That loving you is all there is.
In a tender moment like this.

Awesome video with all their moms! What's wrong with or country music now!!!??????
One of my favorite Oak Ridge Boys songs.
I don't care what anyone says ... Richard Sterban made The Oakridge Boys ... otherwise they would have just been a boy band
Didn't understand why William Golden left the group at the time?
I always loved that little Mexican in the group
One of my favorite songs by Oak Ridge Boys. R.I.P. Steve Sanders
Mama's boys-- how sweet
Miss you Mom Love You Dearly!!!! R.I.P.
God truly Blessed these men and has seen them thru, and the Lord certainly blessed and touched this music to uplift those that need it. 1 of my absolute favorite Quartets
I really don't mean to bust your bubble here, but you do know that the lead singer in this video isn't here anymore, right? (burying my head)
God bless you and those who have loved him longer than me always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee (forever wishing that I had discovered him before his suicide)
to you hillbilliy from your baby boy love you more then my own life cause without you i wouldnt have one
Great video with clips of their home towns. I went to Junior High School with Joe Bonsal and the scenes of his Kensington neighborhood in Philadelphia and his mother brought back a lot of memories.
Wow that's so neat you went to high school with Joe Bonsall!
Love this song
Look at How young they were
love this song, a great song with a message
Found this song again on an old cassette tape and loved it so much, play it always now
My son sent me the song NO MATTER HOW HIGH I GET BY OAK RIDGE BOYS LOVE YOU SON
Great song! I love the way they show the kids coming home to mom. Seems like kids don't respect their moms like they used to do in the old days. Love your moms now, for there is no area code to heaven. RIP Mom.
Well its been 20 years since the late beautiful precious leader of this song went forward, if only I had discovered the late beautiful precious sooner, I love Steve SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
You still up a great song for Mother's Day can you do the same song but make it for Father's just rerecord that song No matter how high I get for my father your mother is always number one but you also got to do something for Dad to just add Dad into that song for Father's Day think that would be cool
Happy Mother's Day 2018 Everyone !
They will be live in Charleston WV this Friday and I can't wait to go see them.
The smile on Steve's face during his final close up in this video is like the cherry on top of the ice cream, I love the late beautiful precious SO much!!! God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
P.S. Now.......WHO THE HECK MADE THAT GUN OF HIS LOOK SO TASTY IN HIS OPINION???!!! (complete and total rage)
This song remained me of my mom she was the greatest thing to me I'll miss you mom you will always be in my heart love you
One of my favorite country bands ever
Long time Oaks fan, and what I really like about this song is Richard's bass line in this one. It really adds something to this particular song. I think I started listening to these guys as a kid about 1980 or 81.
What's best oaks album to get Steve Sanders songs with him singing I've got essential hits but love Steve no offence Mr golden.
There are as many compilations with Steve on them as there are regular albums. My personal favorite is "Monongahela," which is available digitally via iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Spotify, etc. On March 2nd, there is a 2-CD set releasing that includes the Oaks' entire Columbia catalog (1973-1976) as well as all of their RCA singles and B-sides. Steve is on all of the RCA recordings.
If you are looking for a greatest hits type album, this one here is the only one that I have ever seen with Steve in the front picture. http://www.oaksdiscography.com/pictures/best_of_oak_ridge_boys_rca.jpg Sadly there is a lot missing from the album, but it could be worse. I know this because I have seen worse. If you check out their album named The Definitive Collection, you will not see even one song on there from when Steve was in the group. (How respectful of his memory and yes, that is sarcasm!!!) In my opinion, the best move to make would be the one that I made and that is to get every album that our late beautiful precious Steve was a part of: Heart Beat, Monongahela, American Dreams, Unstoppable, The Long Haul, and Country Christmas Eve. That Christmas release includes his take on the song named "Thank God For Kids". (trying not to cry)
God bless you and his family always!!!

Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve went forward, if only I had discovered the late beautiful precious sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
May you have eternal peace and prosperity. Rest easy Steve.
I like how you can hear all of there voices
Who Made Who !?!
It always amazes me how low his voice can go. It's mind blowing
Based on the video, they should make this a staple song to play on every Country music station in the country on Mother's Day.
ShadowWolf1982 it is a wonderful btribute to good mothers everywhere.
I grew up to this! love it!
I grew up to this! love it!
bobby womack wrote this
Joey Scarbury and Even Stevens wrote this song. You're thinking of "No Matter How High I Get", which is a different song with a similar title.
Steve Sanders mom looks like Mrs Doubtfire!

Steve had one of the best voices I have ever heard.
He needed help he shouldn't have died that way so sad!
So are y'all saying if you blow your brain out you still go to Heaven? Because that is what he did.
He was my favorite Oak, too. Something is missing without him taking the lead. He was amazing.
OMG I absolutely love this song and its been decades since Ive heard it , I missed it , thank you very much to who ever shared this .
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE OAK RIDGE BOYS ON THEIR GOING INTO THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME THIS YEAR.
Wow it a miracle people god bless the hole world one national for all
ACC's #7 song of the '90 survey year. The Oaks hit #1 in Billboard, 3-3-90. God bless y'all, Oaks! Thanx, Kyle, for postin' it. Have a blessed New Year!
The Oak Ridge Boys' final #1 hit ever.
@EricEbac22 WRONG!!! THEY HAVE HAD OTHER HITS. ELIVIRA WAS A HUGE HIT FOR THEM. THEY CLOSE OUT WITH ELVIRA EVERYTIME ON THE OPRY ETC.
@Beth Lane But what I'm referring to is that "No Matter How High" was their final #1; they had several other top ten hits after that, the last one being "Lucky Moon" in 1991.
I love this song and the song stated the love for number one person in our life is ur mom
My mom and I use to sing this to each other when I was little
same with my father and me :) love this song!

Poor Steve Sanders. He shouldn't've killed himself.
was he apart of the oak ridge boy's?
I love this song with Steve I miss him , we will always have his voice in these songs.
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve went forward, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!

I lost my wonderful mother June 25th 2013. I am so happy she was the one who told me to listen to this song when it first come out. I was a little boy then. And now it is my favorite Oak Ridge Boys No Matter How high I get
It's not the ORB w/o WLG!
To me, its not the ORB without Steve.
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
The ORB was great with both WLG AND Steve Sanders, IMO.
Happy Mother's day to all the Mother's out there!
This song takes me back. I remember it from CMA when I was young.
Thanks for posting!
i love this video with the guy that replace william lee golden in the group.
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve (William Lee's replacement) went forward, if only I had discovered the late beautiful precious sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
An amazing group: Steve on lead is amazing and a nice change; Duane is a fine lead as well; Joe on high harmony and Richard on low harmony; amazing stuff. It would be interesting to hear Bill added in here too on harmony.
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve went forward, if only I had discovered the late beautiful precious sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
LOVE YOU MOM!!!!
R.I.P. Steve Sanders. What a loss. Cars.
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since that beautiful precious went forward, if only I had discovered him sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)

The Oak Ridge Boys are awesome. I grew up listening to them. They are so cool.

What are 'babydolls'?
love this video shows how much love they have for mom and her support.
This is adorable.
One of my favorites
@forthmancrew Got that right. I am 38 and still cherish my mother who is 69 and do what i can for her. I love her so much!
i love this song and i love the oak ridge boys.
@forthmancrew Is it weird that i am almost 38 and sometimes call my mother mommy? Some people say it is, while others say i can call her what i want because she gave birth to me
I would like to find a good copy in karaoke format, let me know if anyone has one, thnx
@daddy25327 that would be Richard Sterban.
Love you steve (R.Love 2 see your moms .I can sing word for word
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since Steve went forward, if only I had discovered the late beautiful precious sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
U can't find it on amazon. I already tried
joe bonsall was from my neighborhood in philly so awesome
@daddy25327
Haha yes, Richard Sterban. Always been one of my favs.
I think Richard's line should've been "no matter how low I get".
Daddy25327 I agree with you he is great
but they are all great
who ever that dislikes this song, doesn't know a good song or music.
They didn't listen to it. Trolls
Perhaps the argument is such that we merely disagree..I do not agree that adding the younger addition in an already successful band..helps..these four individuals are a blessing all there own..good day.
@daddy25327 best bass singer ever in the business.
I've always loved this song, since I was a little girl and my mom would listen to it! They are definitely amazing!
This song sure puts me in a good mood. Love the Oaks!
its a waste the lead singer killed himself
Can you believe that its been 20 years now since that horrible day, if only I had discovered the beautiful precious sooner, I love him SO much!!! (burying my head)
God bless you and his family always!!!
Holly in East Tennessee
This song is most appropriate song for moms day!!
Mom and I watched this video when it was on CMT back in 88!! She sure enjoyed it then, as much as she did today when I played it for her!!
What a great song!
