Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Turn Of The Century Lyrics

There'll be flying boats, and condos with moats;
Cultivated oceans, floating cities in the sky.
Living underneath a bubble;
No more toil and trouble
Singin' 'bout that sweet ole by and by.

We'll all have lots of money
That we won't have to spend;
You'll be given everything
When everyone's your friend
Hanging out together
In picture perfect weather -
This time 'round the party never ends.

Hallelujah, I can't wait to see it
Hallelujah, come on and go with me
Let me show you the way it's gonna be
At the turn,
The turn of the century.

We won't need no tv preachers
To ask how much we gave
We won't need no tv preachers,
See, by then, we'll all be saved
No more fighting for a country
No child will go hungry
We'll be smiling from the cradle to the grave.

Hallelujah, I can't wait to see it
Hallelujah, come on and go with me
Let me show you the way it's gonna be
At the turn,
The turn of the century.

    In my mind the best song and best lineup the dirt band had. Thanks for posting

    I was fortunate enough to see this line-up. I took my daughter to the show. One of my favorite concert memories. I love the song & couldn't believe it wasn't already posted.

    A great band and a great song.

    All 3 lead singers take turns on the verses. The Nitties hit #27 in Billboard, 7-8-89. God bless you, David, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed rest of the week!

    Thanks for posting this.  I wrote this with Dan Tyler many years ago and it's one of my favorite cuts/bands of all time. Both of the Circle albums are great from stem to stern....they are a class act for sure! And don't forget "Uncle Charlie and his dog Teddy"....as good as Sgt. Pepper's to me

    Thank you for co-writing such a great song! And thank you for being pleased I've shared it. I was very surprised to find it wasn't on here as it is one of my favorites from the album. I have both "Circle" albums as well as "Uncle Charlie and his dog, Teddy".  I've been a fan of the Dirt Band since I was around 10. I took my daughter to see them when she was about that age & she's a huge fan as well. ironically I'm more of a hard rock fan but there has always been something in the country rock bands that held me.

    @J Fred Knobloch
    Mr Knobloch, I´m from Sweden and a lifelong fan of the Dirt Band. As the year 1999 turned into the year 2000 I was standing in a circle with my closest friend singing along to this song. An absolutely unforgettable moment. Thank you.

    @Hakan G what a great story....thanks a lot! Those kinds of stories are part of the reason we write songs in the first place!

    This was my daughter Christy's favorite song when she was 5 and we wore out the CBU 2 cd while painting her room. She is now 25 and having a baby in a few weeks. I pulled up this song because I was thinking of her.
