Neil Peart just passed away so I was going through a bunch of Rush songs. Remembered what a great cover this was, you guys really did it justice.

Only recently did I start listening to Rush. I bought a CD from the Walmart clearance bin and it contained this classic masterpiece. It quickly became one of my favorite songs by Rush. To see Danny do a cover of this song that is faithful to the original, and a totally badass cover at that, it's pretty amazing.

I am completely blown away by Dan's harmonies in this cover that he is able to transform an already incredible song into even more of an immensely moving experience.... This is by far my favourite cover of anything, ever. I was modeling in blender when this song came on so every time they said "subdivision" it gave me a fucking heart attack because I thought something was talking to me.

Oh, it's my most forgotten song! XD I actually have the original on my MP3 player but for some reason each time it comes up my first reaction is like "What is that song? Do I know it? How did it get onto my player?" until I finally start remembering. Also in the case of this cover I spent the first 30 seconds wondering "Don't I know that?"

NSP has joined the ranks of legend, I actually enjoy their cover better than the original.

I read the little pamphlet that goes with NSP's CDs, and most actually, and I read aloud Danny's favorite band and all my mother, who was sitting next to me, had to say was "Great, he's a nerd."

is it weird that i wanna have sex with his voice? oh and btw i think Danny's sense of humor, intelligence, talent and yes the Jew hair are sexy...but it was the intelligence and sense of humor that caused this 36 yr old woman to start crushing like a teenager for the first time in over 20 years...

The original is much better in terms of vocals and drums I'm not sure what people are talking about when they say that Danny's vocals are better here. I love the guy, and I love Brian, they're both brilliant. but nothing can match the skill or passion in the performance of rush's original Signals recording, not this at least. The vocals are overproduced, the reverb and layering makes it sound weirdly weak and faded, and his voice while silky and lovely is too smooth and gentle to match the wailing pitch and intensity of Geddy Lee. Danny I know has a great love and respect for Rush and probably didn't hope to emulate that performance but rather just do his own take as himself not trying to be Geddy, and that's fine, but to my mind the seemingly mild-mannered far away almost shy attempt to pay tribute to the song is somewhat disappointing in it's lack of commitment to the intensity the original recording brought.

But I suppose if easy listening is your thing go for it.

What's the point in doing a cover if you're going to make it the exact same song...?
