Nile - Die Rache Krieg Lied Der Assyriche Lyrics

Ia Namtaru
Ia Lammia

Ia Zixul zi Azkak
Ia Gula zi Pazu
Alal uggae Utukku Xul
Ia Ia Pazuzu

Ia Ningursu Ia Ia Umduggu
Shemti Shebui Nehenkau
Addu Nergal Arrallu

Nergal dread God of War and Plague
Avenge the shades of our Fallen ones
Blacken the sun with Fierce Winds
Bring forth your Terrible Storms!
Yea! Burn the flesh of our Enemies
Gash their throats with Weapons of Iron
Destroy Them utterly
With Locusts and Disease

Is it me, or does it sound like the lead vocalist from Behemoth is doing the "chanting"/singing?
I can't find anything saying he is though, it just says that he is known for his "contributions" to Nile...

  5. D.... C....

Amongst the Catacombs of Nephrenka is a fucking masterpiece

  6. R.... M....

Nile should have done this type of song on all their albums, in their darkened shrines part 2( temple of sauriun somthing somthing) comes close but not a comparison. Karl.make more nile songs like this!!!! Its primal, its ancient sounding...yet so VERY METAL

  7. A.... ....

Super epic track, through the years I've always came back to this one. But I must admit, as probably any other fluent German speaker, the title makes me cringe.

This song is fantastic, but the In the Beginning version is FUCKING fantastic, a bit more raw and urgent (which I prefer). Still, I wouldn't hate a person for preferring this version.

  20. T.... 8....

    Gods of Egypt lol.

    T.... 8....

This song isn't about Egyptian gods. It is about Sumerian/Babylonian. Sumer was where modern day Iraq is. Between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

    T.... 8....

Jesus Christ defends us from islamic satanic religion.

    T.... 8....

    @Absyndian Tyon
Jesus never existed.  His entire concept was  plagiarized from every other religion at the time.

    T.... 8....

@Azazel Acheron wut? You are another of swedish homo atheist? Jesus was human too like us but with goddess magic. Everyone counting from Jesus birth. This just shows might of the god's son.

    T.... 8....

    @Jay Skade sweden YES

  21. T.... F....

The old Assyrians should be ressurrected back to life and bring order to the chaos that reigns the Middle East

    T.... F....

    im on it

    T.... F....

What do you think ISIS was? Culturally ISIS was linked to the exact same area that the Assyrians descended from. Their conquests resembled the ancient Assyrian conquests in a lot of ways. To say that some of them weren't Assyrian themselves is denying the obvious.

  22. A.... I....

    Das Rachekriegslied der Assyrier

    A.... I....

Maybe they were inspired by the writings of german archaeologist Robert Koldewey, who was researching babylonian and assyrian history. Maybe they read his articles and tried to translate it back into german and to make it more authentic , but failed by doing it. Nevertheless a great song .

    A.... I....

That's an interesting perspective. You're right, it's a great song regardless.

    A.... I....

Not only is it incorrect but they completely butchered the genders of the words :D

    A.... I....

'Don´t you know that "genders are a social construct !" That´s at least what feminazis, ehm, feminists say. And "White, heterosexual, males are the worst kind of human" they say :-)

    A.... I....

    + daywalkermike

    b.... ....

כנראה אין לך מספיק שמיעה מוזיקלית אז אתה מסתפק במשהו קליט כמו הדוגמא הזו

  26. J.... W....

The revenge war song of Assyria.

    J.... W....

Karl wrote the main lyrics in Swahili, the title is in German.

    J.... W....

unfortunately, I couldn't find an english translation of the lyrics in Swahili. If anyone can, please feel free to post them, though, I'm sure it's some kind of battle hymn or prayer, knowing Nile, and especially Karl Sanders.

    J.... W....

+Justin Widle not realy its in german vocablary but not in english gramath ... kinda masta yoda stile

  27. m.... ....

Just because everyone seems to think of Nergal as the god of the underworld and uses him as an analogue for the Judean Satan/Shaitan doesn't mean people of the ancient world viewed the world in such Manichean terms.  Still, decent song, but rather silly if you know the lyrics.

    m.... ....

    megakedar Satan (sanskrit) not judean

    m.... ....

I think you're possibly inflating a simple invocation into something undeservedly more comprehensive.

  28. m.... ....

"In the exalted might of Assur, my lord, in the power and strength of Bel and Nabft, my helpers, at the firm nod of Shamash, the great judge of the gods, who opened the way and spread his protecting shadow over my army, in the greatness of Nergal, the all-powerful among the gods, who goes at my side, guarding my camp, from the district of Sumbi I went in between Nikippa and Upa, steep mountains. Toward Urartu, Zikirtu (and) the Mannean land, Nairi and Musasir, I marched victoriously, like a mad dog, spreading terror, and I met no conqueror. The great armies of Ursa of Urartu and Metatti of Zikirtu, I defeated in open battle. 430 cities of 7 provinces, of Ursa, the Urartian, I totally conquered, and devastated his land."  -Sharrukin (Sargon) II

  29. m.... ....

"Ninlil, beloved of Enlil, the mighty, the proud one among the goddesses, who occupies a station of power along with Arm and Enlil, gored my enemies with her great horns. Ishtar, who dwells in Arbela, who is clothed with fire (and) bears aloft (a crown) of awful splendor, spread a conflagration (lit., rained fire) over Arabia. The warrior Irra (the pest-god), engaging (them) in battle, struck down my foes. Urta, the lance, the great warrior, son of Enlil, pierced my enemies to the life with his sharp arrow. Nusku, the exalted messenger (of the gods), who makes my rule glorious, and who, at the command of Assur (and) Ninlil, the valorous lady, goes at my side, guarding my kingship, took (his place) before my armies and brought low my foes."

"The rest of Arabs, who had fled before my arms, the warrior Irra (the pest-god) brought low. Famine broke out among them. To satisfy their hunger they ate the flesh of their children. Every curse, written down in the oath they took, in my name, and that of the gods, thy sons,—instantly didst thou visit upon them an evil fate."

    -Ashurbanipal on his 9th campaign

  30. m.... ....

Sometimes, the harder you try, the worse it looks.  It's pretty nonsensical to pass this off as an Assyrian invocation when in the Assyrian state record Nergal was usually invoked as a protector deity.  The plague, pestilence, and death of war was the domain of Erra/Irra, and, as for the storms, that was Adad.  As it was a polytheistic religion, an entire host of gods were usually given odes in the course of a military campaign.

  31. J.... ....

    IA IA PAZUZU

  32. J.... W....

    *TO BATTLE!!* /warcry

  33. A.... ....

if i'm good to remember about my german lessons : The war of revenge sing by assyrian.

    A.... ....

I think it's closer to: The revenge war song by the assyrian.

    A.... ....

Must have been too much work for Nile to find an English-to-German translator. -.-

    The song is good anyway.

    A.... ....

Or something like "the battle-hymn of the revenge of the Assyrians."

    A.... ....

Yeah it seems like they used Google Translate for the title...

    A.... ....

more like "The revengerer of the war singsong in their assirists"

  34. N.... ....

  39. r.... s....

Assyria doesn't exist. You're an Iraqi

  40. d.... ....

Had to look up my comment to remember what the joke was about...
While I'm sure that Karl just used the most ominous words he knew as the basis for his text, Sumerian was well known to the Assyrians, who used it as a sacral language. And second that's not a sentence, but rather a verse line, and you have plenty of lines and sentences with just nouns when they are used as either adjuncts or as epithets

  41. p.... ....

The song is just a list of “evil words” and chants for different Mesopotamian/Lovecraftian deities. For sure nothing Assyrians would’ve chanted themselves as it’s all Sumerian not Akkadian. For example “Alal uggae Utukku Xul = Destroyer Death Demon Evil” and even I know enough of Sumerian grammar & the complexity of the language to realize a sentence with four nouns is complete rubbish. Fantastic song nonetheless.

  42. p.... ....

oh fuck, figured i was being clever but you made the same joke four months before.

  43. p.... ....

Babylonians, a little history joke from me to you.

  44. C.... C....

  60. m.... ....

They are enemies of Egypt, thus enemies of the pharaoh, who is a god, and thus enemies of the gods. Being such enemies they are "outside" the boundaries of Creation, and Harmony - they represent Chaos. As representatives of chaos they are portrayed in a chaotic manner with limbs in every directions which sometimes appear to be severed or broken to ritualy decapacitate the threat.

  61. m.... ....

@oberstul To name them exactly according to the egyptian sources the neighbours are Lybians to the west(not actually related to modern day people of Lybia), Kushites or Nubians to the South which represent many different african tribes and peoples. And "Asians" which relate to the ancient peoples of the Middle East. The images that are even further still in the background(kinda hard to make out) are probably another way of representing the enemies of Egypt.

  62. m.... ....

@oberstul not sure which mummy this is, but I am almost certain it's a photo or representation of an actual royal mummy. In the background the three beheaded figures are one typical way of representing enemies - kneeling down(thus defeated), with their arms firmly tied around the elbow area to restrict ANY potential movement. Judging by the colouring they might represent the three principal neighbours recognized by ancient egyptians during the Old and Middle Kingdom.

  63. o.... ....

I EFFING love the album cover!

  64. D.... ....

I wish to hear this song and see a giant awesome smily face slowly rise in the background!
