Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - There She Goes, My Beautiful World Lyrics

The wintergreen, the juniper
The cornflower and the chicory
All the words you said to me
Still vibrating in the air
The elm, the ash and the linden tree
The dark and deep, enchanted sea
The trembling moon and the stars unfurled
There she goes, my beautiful world

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

John Willmot penned his poetry
riddled with the pox
Nabakov wrote on index cards,
at a lectem, in his socks
St. John of the Cross did his best stuff
imprisoned in a box
And JohnnyThunders was half alive
when he wrote Chinese Rocks

Well, me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my ears
Me, I'm lying here, with nothing in my ears
Me, I'm lying here, for what seems years
I'm just lying on my bed with nothing in my head

Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

Karl Marx squeezed his carbuncles
while writing Das Kapital
And Gaugin, he buggered off, man,
and went all tropical
While Philip Larkin stuck it out
in a library in Hull
And Dylan Thomas died drunk in
St. Vincent's hospital

I will kneel at your feet
I will lie at your door
I will rock you to sleep
I will roll on the floor
And I'll ask for nothing
Nothing in this life
I'll ask for nothing
Give me ever-lasting life

I just want to move the world
I just want to move the world
I just want to move the world
I just want to move

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

So if you got a trumpet, get on your feet,
brother, and blow it
If you've got a field, that don't yield,
well get up and hoe it
I look at you and you look at me and
deep in our hearts know it
That you weren't much of a muse,
but then I weren't much of a poet

I will be your slave
I will peel you grapes
Up on your pedestal
With your ivory and apes
With your book of ideas
With your alchemy
O Come on
Send that stuff on down to me

Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send that stuff on down to me
Send it all around the world
Cause here she comes, my beautiful girl

There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes, my beautiful world
There she goes again

    I really like this album.

  11. Paul Little

Hey! It's the greatest song ever written by our greatest songwriter. That's what brought me here. Anybody who has ever attempted to create anything should have to scream this at the top of their motherfucking lungs at least once before they die/quit/what-have-you.

  12. Simona Pop

    31 de idioti.

  13. John Hughes

Their best tune in my opinion, wouldn't sound out of place on the Grinderman albums either

  14. Jakub Nowak

    I'm from KEXP

  15. Ben Reed

I am going to see Nick Cave tomorrow night at the O2 in London, UK. I pray he plays this song - my all-time favourite Nick Cave song...and that's going some.

    doesn'y get much better

  22. Louise O'Shea

Did you get the fare home off him?

  23. Brad Ley

Now then. Some critics here. Why? Obviously they have not a clue. Cave often makes it look too easy. He is gifted. Then, people tend to raise their expectations. Seems unfair. Or, expect too much. This is as refined as it can possibly get from Cave. There are few songwriters that could even hope to match this. Much of his work. I mean. After all these years. Who comes close?

    Oscar Torres

Brad Ley from m the birthday party to its latest lineup. I'll be fortunate enough to see them in Berkeley this June

    Louise O'Shea

    Frank Black of course

  24. Michael Cassidy

    Stevey Garland brought me here

  34. George Keskeny

Great song, as for the Chinese Rocks reference, sometimes its about the poetry of the situation. The immediacy of a certain reference. It's legitimacy is irrelevant.

    Toby Jackman

    oh come on

    eck macdonald

Agreed some great songs on DLD.

    Fight Me at Walmart

Skeleton Tree was a phenomenal album, absolutely bursts with emotion. May not be what everyone was used to. But it doesnt stop it from being amazing

    Bram Nollet

PTSA and Skeleton Tree are their best albums imo, so I don't agree. But well we're all gonna have different opinions, and who knows you might actually feel the same if you listen to these albums multiple times ^^

    Paul Little

Uh, no. There's a reason Skeleton Tree is one of the most acclaimed albums of the current decade. ETA: fair play, it didn't exist yet when you wrote your comment, but DLD and PtSA both did, and they're also exceptional. Cave's late career is at least as good as anybody's.

  43. MrSimPE

    SAINT VINCENT

  44. Robert Pavlovich

    Say that stuff about me...

    Andrew Taylor

The lyric is 'send that stuff on down to me' not 'say that stuff about me.' He's talking about inspiration, as the tune is about overcoming writers' block.

  45. Cláudia Alves

    this is perfect
