Juice Newton does a great version. And my friend Kelly Cogan, known as Patsy Foster, sang this on her album Long Cold War. This bar version doesn't do it total justice (at all), but if you buy her CD, Long Cold War, you can hear it in a purer form. One of the best singers I have ever known and sadly she died young from addiction a few years ago. Kelly was so talented and the world is less without her. Compared to today's "female" artists she is a goddess. She still kinda sucks when compared to her contemporaries.

My grandad played this song, and he told my mom and I that my grandmother sounded a lot like her... and she passed when my mom was really young.

The original recorded version of this great song was actually by Dottsy. Both women are great singers.

Juice was the first to record this song with her old band Silver Spur in 1975 (that version can be found on youtube if you wanna hear it). Dottsy recorded her version in 1976. This song was written about Juice by Otha Young, who was in SS as well.
