Newton-John, Olivia - Mary Skeffington Lyrics
Mary Skeffington, close your eyes
And make believe that you are just a girl again
Go to sleep tonight, dream of days
When you had something there to light the way
You slept in a room upstairs on a bed of eiderdown
Mary Skeffington, when you wake
You mustn't be afraid to face another day
Think of what you had, you'll get by
You've always been a lady, hold your head up high
Look back on your home where you spent the best years of your life
Remember the man who asked you if you would be his wife

Brings back the memory of Grad Night at Disneyland 1974 when she performed on the Tomorrow Land Stage. She came over where my classmate and I were standing and sang to us.
My favorite ONJ song
I love listening to Great songs like is
I love this song also by Olivia Newton John. I have love and listened to her since I was a teenager and I still do today as well also. Hats off to you Olivia!
Don't forget the great Gerry Rafferty who wrote this song for his mother. You may know this, but if you don't, check out the original. Newton John does the track great justice.
Love this whole album! Brings back memories of listening to the whole record until I wore the thing out. This was my escape from my reality of my parents always arguing.... I wanted to me a great singer like her, with a soothing, calming voice. Thank you ONJ for helping me get through these obstacles in life! I was bugging my parents for this record, they said they gave it to my aunt and don't know where it was. Thank you for sharing this with us!
When I was a little girl; she was my singing hero. It was then I knew someday I would meet her.... and when I was 20 something; I did! She was so sweet, just like I had always imagined. <3 <3 <3 Love this song.
One of my all time favorite songs as a child that I practiced singing to. I used to perform "Country Girl" at the age of 3 on stage.
Where did the years go????????
Such a beautiful song. Great memories. I wish it was available in an mp3 format!!
