Turn off the lights is in reference to the first lights, oil lanterns. You would turn the knob and the flame (light) would go out. The phrase remains just as "hanging up the phone" and "roll down the window"

This is such a good song. I had the line "the party's over" stuck in my head so i searched it on google, clicked this video and well. I'm not sure if this was it or not. One of the lines sounded really really familiar. But either way. I'm content with listening to this and I'm glad I clicked.

for me because it
is nearly 60 years old, before his voice grew unbearably wobbly, twangy, and nasally.
The wonderful orchestration and choir really helped put this recording over! We all certainly know which of Willie
Nelson's recordings will be featured on the media during the event of his eventual
passing!

Who are The Jokers doing it now on ESPN?  Even though Howard Cosell was not very popular with most of those watching Monday Night Football on ABC in the 70's and 80's, but what I loved most was Frank Gifford's insight of the game as well as Don Meredith personality which most definitely added another 20 Points to the Nielsen Ratings for ABC Monday Night Football.
