Nathanson, Matt - Gold In The Summertime Lyrics
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
Summertime, summertime, summertime
It's too hot to sleep; laughing in the heat
Sirens come in waves up the fire escape
Every shadow disappearing into dawn
Ooh, let's keep this going
I wanna go all in
We'll never be lonely in the dark
Nobody loves you
The way that I do
The way you shine through
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
We could dodge the rain in some museum cafe
Or run together til the storm clouds all get gone
Wander through the streets; F train to the beach
Be in love with being young, dazzling, and lost
Ooh, let's keep this going
I wanna go all in
We'll never be lonely in the dark
Rooftop in SoHo
Prince on the radio
The city streets glow
Gold in the summertime
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
Oh, let me disappear in your love, your love
Oh, just to be so near to your love, real love
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
Nobody loves you
The way that I do
The way you shine through
Gold in the summertime
Rooftop in SoHo
Prince on the radio
The city streets glow
Gold in the summertime
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling
Summertime, summertime, summertime
I gotta get that feeling

Nathanson, Matt Gold In The Summertime Comments
I used to work at Safeway & honestly I like this song lol 😂😂😂 this song got me through my sad days.
Fuck Hardees
I used to heres this at work a lot.
I freaking hate this song, they play it all the time at work. It's painful to hear this monotonous "summertime summertime summertime summertime summertime summertime summertime summertime" in the background multiple times a day.
God awful song. Annoying voice that sounds like nails on a chalkboard; stop playing at my job you annoying sack of shit. Please quit making music.
The blandest, most unlistenable, nauseating shit possible.
This song played sixteen times on the radio at my work and it's so annoying. His voice sounds like a fork scraping on a plate.
Lol plays at my work too but i still love it
lol i be hearing this at work at meijers
walmart radio
Heard this song at work, Gourmet Garage Soho
Heard this in Burlington Coat Factory, and I just had to find it.
Mad Hope and Modern Love were just insanely awesome albums all the way through. Last of the Great ... didn't vibe with me. And this track... no go there either.
Hope you find the awesome again Matt! Maybe shave?
I heard this in hollister and fell in love 😍😍
Feeling compelled to buy the shit out of this album!
matt is one of those souls that makes people feel alive. music, conversation, philosophy and humanity~ more than an artist...
The first part of this song made me think it was a sunscreen commercial when i first heard it on the radio
nobody loves you, the way that i do…..
SUMMERTIME SUMMERTIME SUMMERTIME ♬♫♪☮
I WAS JUST AT THE GORGE CONCERT AND MAY I JUST SAY, MATT, YOU ARE SUCH AN ADORABLE MAN. I LOVE YOUR MUSIC AND YOUR HAIR IS ADORABLE AND I LOVE HOW ENERGETIC AND HAPPY AND FUN YOU WERE. YOUR FUNNY AND RELATABLE AND YOUR MUSIC IS GREAT. ALSO I LOVED THE BOOTY SHORTS. #soul sister
Found this on songza, I heard it and forgot to write down the name, after about I week I found it. So glad I have!
I fucking love this song!! Pardon the language.
So weird, I used "Faster" as the soundtrack to a video slideshow I put together of me and my wife on our honeymoon in NYC last summer, this reminds me of it a lot! We saw Matt play Central Park with Gavin Degraw on our last night in the city, it was amazing and introduced us to Matt's music.
I've loved this song ever since I heard it on the radio some time ago. Also, I seriously feel like this song's from the year 1998 or 1999.
discovered this on spotify and automatically added to my playlist. such a good song and really like the 70s vibe :D
Great song.
Recently saw these guys in concert @ pnc pavilion, immediately when I heard this, I knew, this is a hit soon to come! Good job!
BuzzFeed sent me here lmao
This was my musical horoscope from Buzzfeed....they did good.
Cool, hot song!
I'm only here because of buzzfeed.
Love Matt's music!
New album means new tour, See you soon!
As always, he's rocking exactly what I want to hear! Can not wait for the new album.
Love it
Great summer anthem, I love that Matt keeps trying on different musical hats!
AWESOME!!!!!
It bugs me a little too much that the record label says 3:52 but the song is clearly 3:36.
When will this song be on Spotify? :)
LOVE it!!! Can't wait to blast this in the car!!!
Every lyric you write creates this wildly vivid image in our heads. Your use of actual places and landmarks makes me happy inside. Every single song of yours does this. Treehouses in heads, streetlights fingerpainting bodies, invisible people wearing headphones and now this! What sets you apart from others is your ability to make your listeners feel things. Someone can write about love and heartbreak all day long but that gets old. The world needs more songs like Gold in the Summertime! Feel good stuff. Way to go Matt Nathanson. Blowing your (friendly) competition out of the talent waters again. Bravo. Now pressing repeat.
@Kristine Kimmel Well said, Kristine! Beautifully and perfectly expressed. Thank you! :)
until we hear the whole album, we can't rightly judge. but as a single? it's a perfect radio pop song that throws you back to the 70s grooves that he was hoping to accomplish...but to me, it's a little too much of "I'm going to write a song that pays homage to the stuff I used to listen to," like his last album. GREAT pop songs...but not the most emotionally captivating (at least for me). I feel his last album sacrificed too much his genius ability to emote for the sake of capturing perfect pop songs that, as I mentioned above, pay homage to the music he grew up with but left me wanting more emotionally. I hope his new emotionally "heavy" album is more naked in its honesty than this song and his last album.
@Jeff Stone Wait, so you're saying that Last of the Great Pretenders isn't emotionally captivating? What is Mission Bells an homage to? I don't mean to sound combative but I'm fairly certain I must be misunderstanding you.
@Cyrano Jones As compared to Modern Love or Some Mad Hope, I would have to say no. I do not think every aspect of LotGP is lacking of emotionally honest moments, but taken as a whole, I think Modern Love and SMH are just better and fuller collections of songs. Just my opinion though. I'm glad you enjoy LotGP and I'm sure we both agree that getting any new Matt music this quickly is always a good thing.
@Jeff Stone I will definitely agree that Modern Love is a better album objectively and that LotGP gets an emotional bump from me because he's writing about My City. And new album means new tour--I'm passing on the Nathanson Train, so I hope it's soon. (:
Thanks, Matt! Groovy tune -- head-bopping tune that warms up the Pacific Northwest by at least 10 degrees. When can I buy?
Love the song. Had to hear it more than once. Puts me in a good mood.
Love it but hubby says I'm partial but I do! The horns are amazing!
Fun! Another great Matt Nathanson tune!
You sound like the Partridge Family dude from the 70's. I like.
just saw him perform this when he performed for train and it was just as amazing live!! Cant wait to buy it on iTunes
Who's the asshat that gave this a thumbs down?!
Can't wait for the new album to come out :)
@Nicholas Kuiper I just saw him live and he looked like he was having so much more fun with this song than his others. I love his other im just saying that he made this to enjoy it himself. not to please people wanting "Answering Machine-esque-ness"
@Art Beecher what
@Le Dan Theman Playlists Jk bro Yeshua bless
Lisa Adams I disliked this song because he literally plays like 100 times a day as I work at the supermarket. Shit song btw.
Because it's repetitive as fuck, annoying, and has nothing to contribute to music or culture
I''m digging the vibe on this. Love it!!
Yeah...a great new groove for summertime! I can get that feeling on my boat all Summer! Thanks Matt.
Had me at the horns!
Wait, lemme get my headphones on. LOL. Love the new song. You never disappoint. Looking forward to seeing you in Minnesota or somewhere near real soon!
Love the song, but really wish I could see the full pictures of all the beautiful places. 😔
Matt, you're always good for a new summer jam I can listen to over and over. love it!
God bless America. Just the summer anthem I've been looking for!
Fabulous! Perfect summer song! Can't wait to hear it in Birmingham next week!!
My pug and I started struttin our shit as soon as we heard this. You were so right Matt! Awesome song. Been a fan for a while and never knew you had some black in ya. :)
SO wonderful Matt!
If bell bottoms ever come back in style, they have a song for their commercial.
Looking forward to the new album.. nothing but love for Matt!!
love the "Prince on the radio" line!
