definitely not bad era!

ND started grindcore/noise/crust thing, moved to OSDM and then upgraded their sound to a completely original death metal interpretation. a very few bands managed to do that. fear, emptiness, despair, diatribes, inside and words are completely albums in their own genre. then, ND does it again with enemy of the music business, which is for me, along with diatribes, their abs masterpiece and finest work. then things change, AGAIN, ND finds themselves trapped between two worlds: back to the roots or experimenting again so they picked the sound which made them and have been true to it ever since. maybe their last three albums are all more of the same but they are one of the most original, greatest bands in the history of metal.

This and FearFactory's soul of a new machine for me are up there as two of the biggest industrial metal albums of all time \m/

@morwen angelus on this album napalm death experimented with industrial sounds,even in a metal hammer from 97 they were interviewed and said the same.

I was so happy when I got this Tape. Napalm Death will always do their own things with music and that's why we fuk'n luv'em. True fans of a band understand band progression. Keep up the Amazing Work Napalm Death.

Should never forgeted that ( like VOIVOD was ) Napalm Death were pioneers for what is really HARD TRASH METAL that was called GRINGCORE... SUre the sound of their first album was totaly brutal ( more than Venom, Slayer, Celtic Frost , Detruction etc.. ) the pushed the envellop way further into the total ( almost musical anarchy ) . You rarely got in love and really understand what they were doiong.. But after some goood listening you discover what they werte doing and why they were so important in the history of TOTALY HARD AND DESTRUCTIVE sound... No Napalm Death means that Cannibal Corps and all the same kind of band would have never see the ligth of days ( or if it still pop up ) it would have been pretty much later and probably would have been different... Carcass were also a By product of that innovation..... SO even if for you it is just all noises, yoiu HAVE to respect them and give to them what they did...... The style they brought is not my favorit, but they got some pieces that a musical fan must know.. When SCUM it the stores shelfs it was a war like product and most peoples didn't know what to make of that.. But they past the test of time and they have a big fan base that are devoted to them and there style ... So much that other bands that folollowed there steps made big money.. SO I will never bad mouth them ... And the achivement they made most be more greater then others cause at the begining even if much of the critics were kicking them even if they were down and got it tuff at the start. Not like Cannibal ( shity ) Corps that took the same reicepie and try to adjusted it toward what peoples seems to like and took out what was supposed to be awful.. But Corps is ( for me ) just a pale copy of them ( and VOIVOD was in the same boat ten Napalm Death.... Even there album coverws and the way they wrote te name of the band was hard and brutal.... .. Cannibal just got more into sadistic theme but it is no where near them... But I respect those who love them , but they aren't in my play list , far from that....

FROM A PROUD FRENCH CANADIAN who live almost in the back yard of VOIVOD members.... Pyggy Snake ect... they had some crazy and distorded idea for there music but they knew what they were doing, were they were going and how they want it to be .....ALL the credits to those 2 bands that still kept theere heads up high even when the win , the rain , , and tornado fall on them .....

Probably still my favourite album of ND! Absolute masterpiece \m/ Not taking anything from their recent albums/style but i always preferred their more experimental mid to late '90 era!

100% agree with you, great riffs and lyrics and the atmosphere and good memories of listening to it...№1 favorite album...all songs I like but mostly Prelude by Jesse Pintado RIP...but of course there are a lot of great albums and songs from Napalm Death so Napalm Death rules

I'm just now getting really into these guys. This album does not seem to be their most appreciated, but it's the best I've heard. It has a melodic element I haven't  heard in any of their other work. Utopia Banished, for example, is a fucking awesome album, but I can't recall more than a couple of riffs from it. This one, all the songs are catchy I could pick up my guitar and play a riff from half the songs, though I haven't learned any in their entirety (yet). I'll have a more educated opinion when I hear all their material but this one's definitely one of my favorite albums of all time!

Yeah the music is great and has more direction and depth than their early stuff. I think I've had this album since 1998 and it's still my favorite. Nice mid tempo stuff and Breed to Breathe is excellent.

Even though my favourite record remains Harmony Corruption, Inside The Torn Apart is a close second, some call it the album of "treason", but it's inspired, has its own atmosphere and sounds quite ambitious (especially for a band that began by playing less-than-one-minute-long repetitive songs), I love every song in it! An album like FETO or the more recent The Code Is Red are usually well appreciated by fans and I find them far more annoying and musically poor compared to those hated records Inside The Torn Apart and Diatribes!
