Mountain - Flowers Of Evil Lyrics
Oh can you tell me
Oh how the joy
Passed from his childhood
That's not my boy
I see he's finished, he's run his race
We taught him well
And from his youth
He knew he always
Must know the truth
He left his country to go to war
When he returned, he'd found we closed the door
[Chorus:]
But we never dreamed when he was leaving
That he would taste the flowers of evil
I know his habit was not so bad
But now he' home to his promised land
And what he needs got to cost a Grand
When he'd been home for six month's time
My son he told me, he'd made up his mind
He's re-enlisted for three years more
It's too expensive to stop this war
[Chorus]
Oh can you tell me
Oh how the joy
Passed from his childhood
That's not my boy
He's re-enlisted for three years more
Is the price of peace worth the price of war?

My favourite Mountain song. Great guitar tone, nice melody and well produced. Thumbs up
They were so good!
Great album, great band. Saw them in concert twice.
My favorite Mountain song.

Don`t know if it`s my favorite Mountain song, but I`ve just listened to it almost 50 times in the last two days.
Still a monumental classic, after all these years....wow.
This and Steppenwolf MONSTER are two favorite Viet Nam era anti-foreign war songs.
IS THE PRICE OF PEACE WORTH THAT PRICE OF WAR?
Have not heard this since I was in the US Navy back when this came out. Forgot how good it is!

From the poem Les fleurs de mal by Charles Beaudelaire...
One of Mountain's best songs. I remember it fondly from my teenage years. It's more about the young marines who came back from the wars in South-east Asia with a drug habit and signed up for another tour because drugs were so cheap over there.
Wow. I forgot how great this album is
same here tim
