Mott The Hoople - Lounge Lizard Lyrics
Well I picked her up on a Saturday night
She's a Pool Hall poison but it smelt all right
Oh ma, what a sight when I saw her in the light of day
She was a Speakeasy sleazer of the lowest degree
You should hear the stories she was layin' on me
She's a Lounge Lizard, coming on strong
Who are you foolin', yeah yeah yeah
Lounge Lizard, coming on strong
You gotta be joking just give give give
Now I don't care if your boy's name's John
I don't care where your Mother comes from
Just give it to me, just pull it through me all right
I don't care if your make-up's a cop
No conversation, my reputation's [?]
She's a Lounge Lizard, coming on strong
Who are you foolin', it's me you're with
Lounge Lizard, come on strong
You gotta be joking, just give give give
She's a Lounge Lizard, coming on strong
Who she foolin', it's me you're with
Lounge Lizard, come on come on
You gotta be joking, just give give give
Lounge Lizard, coming on strong
Who are you foolin', it's me you're with
Lounge Lizard, coming on strong
You gotta be joking, just give give give
Give give give
Give give give
Yeah Give give give
Yeah Give give give
Yeah Give give give

Mott The Hoople Lounge Lizard Comments
It's Ronno. I'm Morgan. Case is closed. See you in the US in Oct/Nov, people!!!
Well hell, that's good enough for me! :)
I think it's Ronson on guitar and also i think he plays on "Saturday gigs" not sure who's playing on "Foxy foxy" i think they were released as singles in late '74 after Bender left..they were supposed to do a tour of Europe...i think they did a few shows in Norway in November or so...and that was it ! Oh how i would love to see if there are any live shows w/Ronson before they called it a day !
Just awesome. No one like Mott.
Ah youth...... thank you SO MUCH for this post .... man it really takes me back.... it sounds as good to me now as it did way back then, even better, again, thank you so much for the kind post.
It's Ariel Bender...and yes, he could play like that. Listen to "Evil Woman" (Spooky Tooth), "Walking with a Mountain" (live Mott) and the version of this on the current live shows.
I always loved this song on Ian's solo LP and now 40 or so years later thru the miracles of the internets I hear this fanfuckingtastic version! Imagine if Mott had lasted with this lineup and had released this version of Lounge Lizard and Once Bitten as well. I believe it would have made the difference between fading away and going well deserved mega.
Hot legs
Nice pidture featuring Mick Ralphs and Verden Allen - doh........................
As good as it gets.
It's Ronson on lead guitar. This is the demo with the Saturday Gigs line-up of MTH and was released on the Ballad of Mott The Hoople double CD (best of/rarities) from 1993. Listen for Ronno's trademark feedback squall/string slide about 30 seconds in!
Sorry but it's Bender on the demos. The recent tour has proven this and more.
Always loved this guitar work and glad others do too.
Just for the record, it is Mick Ronson on guitar, not Ariel Bender. If one listens to the Ian Hunter solo version, the guitar work is identifiably Mick Ronson!
DennyYou It says so right on the first Ian Hunter solo album!
larry h. Yep, sure does!
So obvious
that would have to be Ariel Bender or Mick Ronson
Absolutely Mick Ronson!
Sam Dracula Bender cant play this good, its Ronno ace guitarist
@Sam Dracula this sounds nothing like Bender. You're obviously ignorant.
@Mike Ollier oh yes he could, clown. Ever hear of a song called "Evil Woman"?
Ariel Bender. And yes, he could play like that. Ever hear of Spooky Tooth? Or have you heard him doing this on the recent tour?
What is the lineup on this track? Who's on guitar? Ralphs? or Ronson? Sure sounds like Ronson. This version kicks ass.
ralphs has been in BadCo for 2+ plus years at the time of this recording
It is definitely Mick Ronson.
Ariel Bender.
As good as the Hunter solo version of this song is, it does not touch the majesty of this Mott rendition. What could have been....
Definitely more raw than Ian Hunter's solo LP version but that's what makes it a hell of a lot better. Wish to gawd they would have stayed together! Ian's first solo LP would probably been the breakout LP for Mott The Hoople.
HAHSAA GAGAHAHA!!! Get the fuck outta the way!! This is shit-in-your-pants amazing!!!!
The first Hunter solo album should've been the follow up to 'The Hoople' If Once Bitten had gone out under the Mott name they would've exploded all over the world. Bands in those days had no idea how important the 'brand' name was in those days. Mott The Hoople finished at least two years too early, maybe Hunter got a bad dose of "Lead Singer Syndrome" more than fatigue? This is a great version of Lounge Lizard and it proves there was nothing wrong with the band musically in late 1974.
When the album came out (Ian Hunter)..in Los Angeles anyway, the only song that got any airplay was "Who do you love"
Great version; to stinkin bad this lineup could not have done a whole record
"My reputation's too scared," I think.
great sound
real rock!
