Morrissey - Don't Interrupt The Sorrow Lyrics
Don't interrupt the sorrow
Darn right
In flames our prophet witches
Be polite
A room full of glasses
And he chains me with that serpent
To that Ethiopian wall
Anima rising
Queen of Queens
Wash my guilt of Eden
Wash and balance me
Anima rising
Uprising in me tonight
She's a vengeful little goddess
Truth goes up in vapors
The steeples lean
Winds of change patriarchs
Snug in your bible belt dreams
God goes up the chimney
Like childhood Santa Claus
The good slaves love the good book
A rebel loves a cause
I'm leaving on the 1:15
You're darn right
Since I was seventeen
I've had no one over me
He says "Anima rising-
So what-
Petrified wood process
Tall timber down to rock!"
Don't interrupt the sorrow
Darn right
He says, "We walked on the moon
You be polite"
Don't let up the sorrow
Death and birth and death and birth and death and birth
He says, "Bring that bottle kindly
And I'll pad your purse-
I've got a head full of quandary
And a mighty, mighty, mighty thirst"
Seventeen glasses
Rhine wine
Milk of the Madonna
Clandestine
He don't let up the sorrow
He lies and he cheats
It takes a heart like Mary's these days
When your man gets weak

Morrissey Don't Interrupt The Sorrow Comments
Thank you for this album 🙂
I need to hear this at least once or twice a week. Love the Mos. " A rebel loves a cause".
Brilliant Joni Mitchell song. Great version. Two of my favourite artists together. Wonderful.
Would love to have heard Moz cover this with Johnny Marr on guitar.
I’ve always wondered how much input is actually Mozz and how much is the producer of the moment and the musicians, i wonder this with other musicians but specially with Mozz, when you really love music
I can't believe I've been sleeping on this album. It's so beautiful!
disappointing cover of a timeless Joni Mitchell piece - his vocal range is approx. 0 on this one. Go check out the orig, you'll see.
Thanks for doing this great song Moz, Joni Mitchell's legacy should always be kept strong.
its actually trash
Excellent version, of this great song....Darn right....
Always a pleasure
i like this song
Unable to stop listening to it.
MORRISSEY HAS NOTHING TO SAY ANYMORE Shame on you MOZ. He may as well be singing "All hail plankton!"
who are Morrissey's bandmates these days? Still got Boz?
Yup. Boz has been Musical Director since day one. The rest of the band now, sadly, are a revolving door of young boys..
Combination of Joni Mitchell lyrics, Morrissey sings them...Lovely. Well done!
"Truth goes up in vapors
The steeples lean
Winds of change patriarchs
Snug in your bible belt dreams"
I've been playing this on repeat all night, the saxophone is amazing on is tune/ #vivamorrissey!

This version is absolutely gorgeous. It may be one of Morrissey's most beautiful vocals and arrangements ever. It reminds me of This Night Has Opened My Eyes a little. Or at least that vibe anyway.
I thought I'd *hate* it.
I'm a total Joni fanboy, and know almost nothing about Morrisey (yeah, yeah - The Smiths, blah, blah, blah). How could a *man* even think about covering this song? Impossible.
From the opening strains - awestruck. It's not even over yet, and I'm misty eyed. Such a respectful, amazing homage... I stand correct. I sit... *amazed*
Bravo, sir.
Try the whole album. It's amazing.
THe music is good, but the video is missing, unlike the huge eyebushes.
Good cover. I do miss Jaco’s bass though. I wish there was a duet of this song with Joni. Their voices would have worked together so beautifully.
Best song of the album
California son : a labor of love, hopeless critics can' t undo that….
Lindas músicas , linda voz , lindo album
This honestly is the best song on the album. its not a favorite of mine by any means, but its better than the others.
Crazy that this does not have more exposure! Odds are that Morrissey's 'un-PC' opinion on the world.is being censored. YouTube is oppressive.
the mans no well,f****** awful.
Absolutely love this version ! Touches my soul
This song and most of California Son is simply amazing.
The singing voice of a funeral home director who considers the music of Joni Mitchell his passion, and the presiding over private viewings of caskets, both open and closed, "just a job."
#FANTASTIC #MasterPiece one of the best of 2019
My fave track on this great album. Keep up the fight dear Morrisseyx
I literally had this on repeat for 3 hours. Gorgeous.
Same here!
Daemon be gone!
The 🎷 is orgasmic. . Brilliant cover 👌💙
Superb album.
Favorite track of the album
That's is wonderful
M moves his mouth but JM‘s words are all I hear.. covering Joni is like throwing a queen-sized white sheet over a wild Bactrian of the genus Camelus..
I love you, Morrissey.
Sad marriage? Six years of immense sadness and fear can kill a part of a person.
Hey man, I love how you are one of the only artists who stands for free speech now. It will not be forgotten.
@Orbit Snoog's LAG House Morrissey has always paid the price
@justin kipper Nice house in LA, sunshine, relative anonymity,... Sounds awful. Not taking anything from his musical ability but he's just furthering his life long quest to find a way to be persecuted...like most of his heroes.
Good points. But I think everything he has achieved, he has earned by writing and performing good songs. And I don't really think he's been looking to be the martyr, he's just been himself.
@Orbit Snoog's LAG House Uh.... so freedom of speech is just a nice to have trinket, huh?
@adibeseYeah, no one should really try to use it ;}
Hero🏴
They try to censor you and directed me to your music. Roger Scruton, Tommy Robinson, Anne Marie Waters, yourself and so many more are unfairly labelled out of the mainstream. Beautiful song 🇬🇧
Black pigeon speaks brought me here. This is talent. Got my sub.
Hes only gone and done it again the most relatable singer ive ever experienced in my life.
★★★★★
Grazie caro Morrissey....
RIP working-class children of Manchester, things have to change.
Things have changed and you don't like it.
Do you think if it changes again it will be for your please?
Had a nice long interview/chat with JM some 20 years ago.
Love love love love love it.
FANtastic
Ooh this is maybe my new favourite
💗💗💗
Beautiful the original version of Joni Mitchell, but this of Morrissey is wonderful.
antonio sallustio ok, I was just about to look this song up; I thought it had a total Joni vibe.
Lyrics well analyzed: https://medium.com/a-longing-look/in-flames-our-prophet-witches-b91db42cde96
This rules in so many ways on so many levels
I'm like him
Much like poetry too difficult to decipher. Well, I’m not smart enough. I like poetry that is straight forward, making it meaningful. This one makes me cry:
The Chimney Sweeper
When my mother died I was very young,
And my father sold me while yet my tongue
Could scarcely cry " 'weep! 'weep! 'weep! 'weep!"
So your chimneys I sweep & in soot I sleep.
There's little Tom Dacre, who cried when his head
That curled like a lamb's back, was shaved, so I said,
"Hush, Tom! never mind it, for when your head's bare,
You know that the soot cannot spoil your white hair."
And so he was quiet, & that very night,
As Tom was a-sleeping he had such a sight!
That thousands of sweepers, Dick, Joe, Ned, & Jack,
Were all of them locked up in coffins of black;
And by came an Angel who had a bright key,
And he opened the coffins & set them all free;
Then down a green plain, leaping, laughing they run,
And wash in a river and shine in the Sun.
Then naked & white, all their bags left behind,
They rise upon clouds, and sport in the wind.
And the Angel told Tom, if he'd be a good boy,
He'd have God for his father & never want joy.
And so Tom awoke; and we rose in the dark
And got with our bags & our brushes to work.
Though the morning was cold, Tom was happy & warm;
So if all do their duty, they need not fear harm.
-Songs of Innocence
If you think of the lyrics as a dialogue between a husband and wife it makes more sense...
Moz :))))
Great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even though
You are for britian . You should cover a song by a nazi . Make it your ow
Moz... You are turning into Joni Mitchell. And I love it. ❤️
He's singing one of her songs. He is far from being JM.
Love it.
just when you think it can´t get any better...
Maravilhoso Morrissey.
California, find yourself there son.
A poet covering the song of another great poet. Perfect.
This just does not really work for me
stay strong for england Morrissey, you're a great man
Stay strong for England maybe but get back to your senses, moz. For Britain, so ugly. Not a single drop of decency in it.
