Moore, Gary - Johnny Boy Lyrics
When I hear that wind blow
All across the Wicklow mountains
Is it you, I hear a calling
Johnny boy, oh Johnny boy
All across the River Shannon
I can still see you smiling
Johnny boy, oh Johnny boy
When the leaves have turned to brown
And winter's due
As I watch the sun goes down
I'll think of you
When I hear that wind blow
Sure it's you, I'll hear a calling
Johnny boy, oh Johnny boy

Moore, Gary Johnny Boy Comments
Gary...
Como Tu ninguno. Increible.
So sweet.
I always thought that Wild Frontier ending with this lovely Celtic ballad was amazing, soft, beautiful and reflective, great songwriting.
This song is written to Philip Lynott. Phil often referred to himself as "Johnny" and Gary made this as a tribute to Phil after he passed away in 1986.
The song still gives me tears in my eyes, thinking about the close relationship between Lynott and Moore. Such a warm and heartful tune! Great tribute to the black rose of Ireland and king of music - Philip Lynott!
Johnny the Fox you old sly cat..
Love ya Gary.
Musik kann über den eigenen Tod hinaus wirken.
I want This played on my funeral
Still can't get through that song without misting up. RIP Da.
Great Gary
Released in 1987, and still is an excellent, moving song
Heart moving
Miss you Gary.
Omg! This sounds like "The Shire song" from Lord of the rings
I´we been in there, Wicklow mountains.
I bet you are johny
Miss You Gary
R.I.P. Gary anybody who pick's up a Les Paul before they play a note say a prayer to the master.

so sad.....
How does one dislike this song?
Because he could, that's why.
People with bad taste.
It's a somber song and I guess some people don't handle that well, Johnathan. Personally, I think it is beautiful.
Different taste in music?
Because they are bitter, heartless, soulless minions !!!!!!!!!!!!
Would have had this play at my funeral, if Gary was still here with us... You died too soon Gary, wish I could have heard of him sooner
someone can tell me what instrument is playing at the intro?
+Ken Mauser At first thought, it would have been the Scottish Bagpipe, but as one listens, the sound doesn't have the tenor D "hum" the bagpipe brings, so I would guess it is the penny chanter, which is lungless form of the Bagpipe, for lack of the better word.
It's the Uilleann Pipes, the Irish bellows blown pipes. But probably played with the drones shut off. Or at least you can't hear them. Uilleann pipes are often used in film music, for instance Braveheart and Titanic.
its a great song from a very good and great men !! rip ! gary
RIP gaz you will not be forgotten!
Grande entre los grandes.
la sic de jun et monsieur son p;)
MERVEILLEUX
RIP Gary & Phil, the boys will always be in town.
Great song written after Phil Lynnot died. Now Gary Moore is dead as well
Both were great performers and composers. R.I.P.
Bezamat, You do realise he's dead, right?
Great Master of Ireland,
Welcome in France, my country...
