Moody Blues, The - For My Lady Lyrics

My boat sails stormy seas
Battles oceans filled with tears
At last my port's in view
Now that I've discovered you

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady
Give it freely and completely
To my lady

As life goes drifting by
Like a breeze she'll gently sigh
And slowly bow her head
Then you'll hear her softly cry.

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady
Give it freely and completely
To my lady

Words that you say when we're alone
Though actions speak louder than words
But all I can say is I love you so
To drive away all my hurt

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady
Give it freely and completely
To my lady

Set sail before the sun
Feel the warmth that's just begun
Share each and every dream
They belong to everyone.

Oh I'd give my life so lightly
For my gentle lady
Give it freely and completely
To my lady

I was wondering if anyone remembers that moody blues fans were and still our the most coolest resonable down to earth people. Ive never stopped being a fan . Dont even listen to todays. Un- real emotion platicated phony bs. Iam a hang glider trike pilot and when i flying i listen to all the moody blues . Such a great place to be near a cloud with my engine off , soaring with birds and listning to the moody blues in my comm.
Just dont want to come back down.

  29. T.... R....

  39. I.... G....

all I can say is I'm glad he knew they were going to be enshrined in the ?Rock HOF before he dies. it should've been done years before.

  40. r.... ....

Gayle Ann, My Sweet Lady, you still fill my heart and soul. Ray completely captured these feelings...

  41. M.... K....

Incredible! Everybody in this band wrote. That's very unusual, except if we were talking about The Beatles, but you can't count them because they were the greatest band in the history of the music business. Every single one of The Moody Blues could have been Julliard graduates, that's how good they were.

  42. p.... b....

great song beats the crap we here today hands down

  43. R.... H....

Another one of the heartbreakers - remembering your first love ...

  53. A.... E....

A mi mamá le agrado escuchar esta preciosa canción Áhora que la escucho la recuerdo a ella que no la tengo ya gracias muchas gracias

  54. k.... h....

That music could come from the heart, and be so easy listen to as it was in times past. So much is lost in modern music, not just harmony, but the feeling and emotion. To much anger and hatred these days.

  55. b.... ....

    rip ray xxx

  56. S.... H....

Favourite Moody Blues song as i age to be able to see these clips brings back good memories, great voice, great song, great group.

  57. g.... ....

Seventh Sojourn is a masterpiece, and never got the credit it deserved.

  58. C.... K....

When I hear this song, it makes me angry that the RnR HOF simply COULDN'T induct Ray Thomas before he passed away. Yet, at the same time, it makes me happy because it's such a beautiful love song. Just seeing ALL the beautiful women smiling at the camera during the video takes me to my happy place.

    C.... K....

Charles Kuckel Well, to be fair, no matter how great the Moodys were, they were NOT about rock and roll, except for their early stuff, of course. Their symphonic sound put them in weird category, even though their songs got a lot of radio play, . I'm a classically trained musician, and I've always felt their music was much more akin to that genre than rock or pop. It was just really sophisticated music. The Hall of Fame have hung back on some great rockers sometimes in the past, too, but I agree that since they finally let the Moodys in, they should have let them in a decade ago, at least.

  59. M.... ....

he was one of the best...RIP Ray

  60. D.... M....

    🎼❤️

  61. B.... T....

Boy does this remind me of the 60s and the great love people had for each other

  63. D.... C....

Lovely song, I think it was a B side

  64. R.... T....

    Wonderiffic !!

  65. G.... N....

Women are sooooo beautiful.... But there's a trick. You have to give your whole heart to just ONE woman... then she will be yours forever. (All things being equal!!!) The original 1972 Seventh Sojourn version segued perfectly with later live footage of Ray, spot on. They were all great, all four songwriters and Graeme's drums were perfect too. Pick ANY song from Seventh Sojourn.. loved this album since I was 16, and forever in my alltime top 20.

  66. d.... T....

    What a beautiful song

    for my lady

  70. B.... ....

Magnificent song, and terrific video to go with it. Seen them many times here in Bristol UK, but sadly only once with Ray. But it got harder and harder to get tickets, mainly because the fan club got first picks leaving very little over for the rest of us to fight over. BUT, thank you You Tube, I can watch them at home on my 27" screen, in comfort, beer in hand, and dream of the old days.

  71. D.... A....

Wonderful song, sung and written by a great performer. RIP Mr. Thomas.

  72. m.... ....

I’m not that big a fan of Seventh Sojourn, but the two best tracks are next to each other, firstly Justin Hayward’s lovely New Horizons, then this very pretty Ray Thomas song.

Thanks for the celestial art Ray. Rest in peace. "All art is a gift of the Holy Spirit. When this light shines through the mind of a musician, it manifests itself in beautiful harmonies. Again, shining through the mind of a poet, it is seen in fine poetry and poetic prose." ~ Baha'i Writings
