Monkees, The - Angel Band Lyrics

My latest sun is sinking fast
My race is nearly run
My strongest trials now have past
My triumph is begin

Oh, come, angel band
Come and around me, stand
Oh, bear me away on your snow white wings
To my immortal home
Oh, bear me away on your snow white wings
To my immortal home

Oh, bear my longing heart to him
Who bled and died for me
Whose blood now cleanses from all sin
And brings me victory

Oh, come, angel band
Come and around me, stand
Oh, bear me away on your snow white wings
To my immortal home
Oh, bear me away on your snow white wings
To my immortal home

Oh, come, angel band
Come and around me, stand
Oh, bear me away on your snow white wings
To my immortal home

Monkees, The Angel Band Comments
  1. O.... ....

I never would have thought they'd do such an amazing on this song

  2. J.... J....

    Incredible.

  3. K.... M....

i want this played at my funeral....with the words on the screen so everyone can have a good ol' sing-along

  4. M.... ....

    One of Mike's strongest recordings.

  5. D.... L....

This track pretty much proves that "The Monkees Present" was produced and recorded similarly to "Abbey Road."

  6. k.... ....

    O'Brother where art thau !!!!

  7. E.... M....

Sorry this is one Monkee song I don't like.

    E.... M....

They've done worse. *cough* ladies aid society *cough* :-P

  8. D.... F....

Absolutely fabulous !!! Thumbs up also for the arrangement and the accompaniment ! Good job !!!

  9. D.... D....

Micky's hair looks stupid as hell on this album cover, and that's truly saying something for the era and style.

    D.... D....

I love the Monkees and most of their hair-cuts, I just don't like Micky's here on this particular cover.

10x more stupid huh? You haven't had sexual intercourse in awhile, have you Alex?

    D.... D....

    @Douglas Daniels i''m 15, so no

    D.... D....

Well, from your over-reactive and obviously agitated attitude, sounds like you might need to TRY HARDER little buddy, at LEAST 10x harder. Mickey Dolenz probably lost his virginity at 14 with the hair and everything, WHY CAN'T YOU?

    D.... D....

@Douglas Daniels My parents would kill me if I tried.

    D.... D....

+Douglas Daniels I feel sorry for you Douglas.

  10. .... ....

Just beautiful, I love the way it sounds thanks for sharing!

  11. X.... ....

Wow! This is quite possibly the best of all possible versions of an old-
    time/gospel/bluegrass/etc song.

It's so good, it's even good iconically.  :)

    X.... ....

    Agreed 👍☺

  12. K.... M....

Well, I for one like this very much.

  13. J.... F....

Good or bad, I just can't believe it.  If you had asked me who was the least likely to have recorded this, I might have said Def Leppard, but the Monkees would have been a close second.

    J.... F....

If you've ever heard any of Mike's solo work, this sound doesn't fall very far from it.

    J.... F....

Michael Nesmith was a country singer before getting hired for the Monkees - he went by the name Michael Blessing. The old claim that the members of the Monkees couldn't play their instruments, etc, are all false - they all had careers in music before The Monkees.

  14. s.... f....

i would love to talk to him so bad

    s.... f....

I would too I am 55 years old and Nesmith has been a hero of mine for at least 50 of those years

  15. s.... f....

I was wondering do you think mike could do gospel?

    s.... f....

Many musicians have performed & recorded gospel songs, even many who are not religious. It's just part of the culture, the repetoir. Music has always been part of religion, & so there's a lot of religious music, and lots of people have gotten their first exposure to music in a church.

The fact that much of it is beautiful may well be evidence for the existence of God.

  16. S.... O....

Sad Colgems didn't release this in the summer of 1969 when Mike recorded it - he could have started Christian Rock all by himself.

  17. A.... R....

Mickie, Davy, Mike, & Peter. AKA the Monkees. I praise you guys. I pray to you guys at night. I worship you. Sorry I know that was kinda creepy
