This song is definitely their most underrated song. I listened to this at least 100 times the first week I heard it, and I still listen to it quite often. Isaac Brock has this thing with words, and this song is without a doubt in my top 10 favourite lyrical songs of all time! LOVE Modest Mouse! <3

@Jared Fogel Day Care It was a pretty good concert, they didn't play this song but I watched it live on YouTube and it didn't really sound too well. They only played for an hour and a half but it was definitely worth the $60 tickets.

I love how happy this song sounds even though the message is pretty much about disappointment and sadness

I dont think the message of the song is disappointment and sadness, the message is more like life is tough so buckle up and the bottom line is that getting through those tough times often leads to beauty and bliss that could otherwise never be reached.  But even though the light at the end of the tunnel will come, sometimes you just cant bear the thought of another tough time.  Sometime you just need a break.

@Rob Duncan modest mouse's motif is more or  less the futility of existing in this world, mostly in terms of culture or society and how we misappropriate the value of things. i don't think there's much light at the end of this tunnel

@Anther you must have both the good and the bad. Imagine a life were only good things happen, well to what degree? If you had varying degrees you would be able to draw a distinction and say what good is and what bad is. So a life without pain is as impossible as a life with only pleasure, and neither of these situations offer any perspective, it's nonsensical. Anyways I really enjoy this band. Passed up the opportunity to see em a couple times. Not again, at first I heard from some friends who had see them said they sucked live, were super high... anyway they toured recently and the same people said they were awesome and added a few new musicians. It'll be sweet

Isaac seems to point out the absurdity of a statement by stating it as something desirable. Like with Float On being about sheep floating through life towards the slaughter. Surprised it's taken me this long to see that possibility xD.
