Modest Mouse - Shit In Your Cut Lyrics

I'd hate to be shit in your cut,
But the package, it's gonna be late
I buried it in an abandoned lot out
When I was young, this was where I'd played

Dug under the fence with my claws
Smelled the cold dirt on my face,
I'm waiting till the hands fall off the clock
Spending dollars at the nickel arcade.

I think I'll ride this winter out,
I guess we'll ride this winter out.

You echo from side to side.
Pacing in your clumsy ballet.
Based on the books and clothes on the floor,
I don't think that this is even your place

When the doctor finally showed up.
Oh boy!
His fur was soaking wet.
He said that "this should do the trick"
We hadn't told him what the problem was yet.

Kaw kaw kaw kaw

We'll have to ride this winter out.
This time we'll ride the winter out.

With the strain and the comforting,
You know that everyone needs to go,
But don't everyone go, don't everyone go at once.

Expulsion from the exoskeleton of our mothers we arrive.
Soft, sticky, cold, we arrive and then start to cry.

All those insects that are trapped in my window once again.
Empty their pockets and I'll sort it at the table.
Line up then shoo 'em off
Sure as hell they'll all get caught in our window pockets full as they are able.

The signs all flicker and buzz all night,
Passing by you could hear them say,
"Hey, please won't you just come on in?"
"Won't you please just go away?"

This time we'll ride this winter out,
I guess we'll ride this winter out
I think I'll ride this winter out

With the straining and the comforting,
I know everyone needs to,
But don't everyone go,
Don't everyone go at once...

This time we'll ride the winter out
I guess we'll ride this winter out
With the straining and the comforting
I know everyone needs to go
But don't everyone go
Don't everyone go at once

This time we'll ride the winter out
I guess we'll ride this winter out
With the straining and the comforting
I know everyone needs to go
But don't everyone go
Don't everyone go at once

This time we'll ride the winter out
I guess we'll ride this winter out
But don't everyone go
Don't everyone go at once

Used to listen to Lampshades on fire religiously a couple years back without giving any other songs a shot.... great band.

  2. I.... t....

i almost read that as "shit in your cat"

  3. J.... ....

it'd be funny to hear the radio version ; " i hate to be the crap in your cut."

  4. J.... T....

    This is the modest 🐁 I ❤️

  5. K.... K....

This is one of those albums where only half of it is extraordinary, and the other half is throwaway (In my opinion). The good songs REALLY stand out though. I have not lost my faith in Modest Mouse yet :) I doubt that I ever will.

Still my favorite song from this album

I hate to be a shit in your cut
Oh, but the package - It's gonna be late
I buried it in an abandoned lot
When I was young this is where I played

Dug under the fence with my claws
Smell the cool dirt on my face
Wait until the hands fall off the clock
Spendin' dollars at the nickel arcade

I think I'll ride this winter out
I guess I'll ride this winter out alone

You echo from side to side
    Pacing in your clumsy ballet
Based on the books and clothes on the floor
I don't think that this is even your place

When the doctor finally showed up (Oh boy!)
    His fur was soaking wet
He said that "this should do the trick"
We hadn't told 'em what the problem was yet (Ah, ah, ah, ah!)

We'll have to ride this winter out
This time we'll ride the winter out

With the strain and the confident
You know everyone needs to go
But don't everyone go, don't everyone go at once
    Expulsion from an exoskeleton
    Of our mothers we arrive
    Soft, sticky, cold
We arrive and then start to cry

Oh, all those insects that I've seen
Are trapped in my window once again
Emptied their pockets out and I'll sort it at the table
Line 'em up then shoo 'em off
Sure as hell they'll all get caught
In our windows, pockets full as they're able

The signs all flicker and buzz, oh no
Passin' by you can hear them say "Hey!
Please won't you just come on in?"
Won't you please just go away?

This time we'll ride the winter out
I guess we'll ride the winter out
With the strain and the confident
    Oh, everyone needs to go
But don't everyone go, don't everyone go at once

  9. G.... ....

One of their best songs in recent memory, with only Whale Song beating it in my personal list of favorites since No One's First.

    G.... ....

THIS. Though I'll throw "The Tourist and The Tortoise" in there too

  10. d.... m....

Based on the books and clothes on the floor
I don't think that this is even your place -

I don't know why I love these lyrics so much. I think because it shows us how Isaac's brain works more than any other words could.

    d.... m....

I wonder if he's referring to his own books and clothes, and someone could be trespassing the boundary of who he is. People love to waltz in and tell you how to be.

    d.... m....

I'd marry this genius. Just saying. Seeing them live is just beyond a dream come true. Idc if he shows up drunk and late. Let the man live!

  11. M.... ....

    Killer.

  12. N.... ....

We used to have a storage shed, next to a bridge. They leveled it, and built an arena on the land where it used to be. Now I have tickets to see MM this spring, at that arena. I wish they were playing in my storage shed.

    N.... ....

    Nancoman tiny shed sessions

  13. c.... ....

Awesome. Beatles , Stones , and Modest Mouse

  14. C.... T....

For some reason, when I first-time heard this, I heard "I guess we'll ride this future out" instead of winter, and it meant so much more to me before. 😕 Like, I often feel like I'm just riding this life out just because I have to, it's either that or die. And yeah, saying future seemed like it was permanent, like I'd feel this way for the rest of my life.

Do they say future live? Is that why I thought that's what it said?

    C.... T....

It's hard to hear exact lyrics live. But winter and future could still mean the very same thing. Judging the majority of his lyrics, this life is one long winter. I'm afraid that my interpretation is that the end of the winter is death.

  15. B.... Q....

what a unique sound..thanks for this!

  16. H.... D....

I thought this said shit in your cat and when I started listening to it I kept hearing shit in your cat except he says cat with a really strong accent.

    H.... D....

wow I wrote this nine months ago and this comment is still cracking me up

    H.... D....

Harry Dykhoff How about now? Because it sure gave me a chuckle

    H.... D....

Oh no I just commented that

  17. M.... ....

"I guess we'll ride this winter out." When the American dollar falls, the first winter will be the hardest. Many people will die.

    ~Great Album btw~

    M.... ....

ModestMootsey I remember seeing this comment when it was new... That winter is almost here but not just for Americans anymore.

    M.... ....

    AMERICA FUCK YEAH

  18. C.... I....

Fuckers who doubted this album simply have downs

    C.... I....

    top hipster is you.

Good news is god tier, very little of early modest is "great" imo.

    C.... I....

Personally I don't relate to anything early of his music, granted it still is unique n such, I just i find it to be hipster tainted gold in my eyes, even if it was or was not intended to be, obviously was not to be intended, unlike Pistol, pure intended hipster gold, yet i love it.

    C.... I....

Honestly, (for me at least) their newer stuff sounds smooth, when you first hear it, for example, Sugar Boats, and Dashboard. But their older stuff, for example, Beach Side Property, Exit Does Not Exist, and Tundra/Desert gets better with every listen, even if, at first, it might seem harsh and unwelcoming.

    C.... I....

I personally think good news is one of their worst CD's. Lonesome crowded west is absolute gold, and one of their best. I didn't like much on this album until I listened to it many, many times over, but I've come to love it. I cannot, however, listen to Pistol. Shit in your cut, sugar boats, the best room, the tortoise and the tourist, I mean the whole thing is very good.

  19. S.... ....

This is my favorite song from the new album.

  20. j.... ....

    one of my new favorites!

  21. P.... W....

This album is going to have to grow on me- but, few have failed in this and usually makes for the long-term bests.

    P.... W....

Yeah, my favorite modest mouse songs are usually the ones i don't like at first actually.  They grow on you and then they become your favorites.  Example- I've got it all (most)

    P.... W....

That is an awesome song. The Sad Parts (edit) huge favorite as well as Tundra.

  22. C.... G....

    First!! what an awesome song!!!
