Modest Mouse - Pistol (A. Cunanan, Miami, FL. 1996) Lyrics

I've got my pistol in the car, uh huh
I've got my stereo in the car, uh huh
I've got my room key in the car, uh huh

Why don't you come to my room
And clean my pistol no duh

I maximize my only liaisons
I'm gonna take it till the taking comes on

I've got my cocaine in my glove box now
The sun roof is down, oh wow
I've got my room key in my pocket and you know
I've got a pistol that I need to unload

I'm gonna T-T-T-T-T-T-Take you on up (You say "What?")
I'm gonna t-t-t-t-take your shirt right on off
I'm gonna zip-zip-zip-zip-zip-za-za-za-zip your pants on down
I'm gonna sip sip sip sip sip from my royal royal, royal crown

And we go Wooh

I've got a backpack with some clothes that I could wear to work tomorrow they won't know
Oh-oh-oh- uh oh
That I was up all night not ready for the meeting, oh no - oh oh
Got a wallet in my backpack and I think it's mine but I don't care, you know
Got my backpack with the money got myself a passport I should probably go

And we go Wooh

Modest Mouse Pistol (A. Cunanan, Miami, FL. 1996) Comments
  1. M.... I....

    I hate this
    But something about it
    Makes me look it too
    Dang
    It's gotta be the funk

  2. I.... B....

Let's get this straight, I don't really like this song. But that doesn't mean i don't think they should have made it. One of my favorite parts about Modest Mouse is that they are always experimenting with new sound. Sometimes it turns out great, but sometimes it can be a little on the if side. The important thing is that if they didn't try to make something that sounds different, then we wouldn't have some of the greatest songs they've made. For example coyotes doesn't necessarily sound like a "traditional" modest mouse song, but that song has great thought and time put into it. Also, if all of there songs just sounded like "Float On" then they would get stuck in one sound and all of their new songs that they would make would just be boring because it would be the same thing, so if there is anything to take away from this song, then it is to just be glad that they can make different sound and Isaac Brock doesn't get stuck into the same old brand, and if you don't like it then just skip the song when you get to it on the album, there is no reason to express your hate for this song just ignore it and go on with your day. That's all thanks for reading this

  3. B.... B....

    Horrible

  4. G.... S....

    Nine Inch Mice

  5. S.... B....

    Pistol is funking wack

  6. J.... Z....

No one likes this song because they don’t know what it rlly means but if you know what it’s referencing it’s so good

  7. J.... Z....

I can see Cunanan riding that sports car and listening to this before murdering Miglin

  8. M.... M....

People seem to glance over the fact that Isaac most likely wrote this in the perspective of A. Cunanan( The guy who killed Gianni Versace).

  9. G.... K....

    this isnt modest mouse

  10. R.... ....

What the fuck was this price of shit

  11. J.... C....

This song is fuckn dope I bump this all day #ripandrewcunanan

  12. t.... s....

    So reminiscent of ween lol

  13. D.... K....

    Ween vibes all day.

  14. G.... R....

It's an acquired taste for sure, but this song is so Isaac Brock... That level of weird belongs to him. And he rocks it.

  15. D.... H....

    Funky I like it

  16. J.... B....

    don't fuck with it

  17. A.... ....

    NIN a fucking joke.

  18. A.... ....

oh my Isaac you almost sound as good as Trent Reznor or Manson, how'd you do it? what skill

  19. B.... J....

    whooooooo!!!

  20. o.... o....

    This song is hot tbh

  21. L.... F....

This is my favorite track on this album. I love how much it sounds like Ween!

  22. j.... f....

The absence of Judy, Plummer and Gallucci has definitely formed a different sound for Mouse, especially Judy, who is a great bassist. Also considering that Isaac is sober now and has a completely different mindset. I'm glad for him that he is clean now, after going through a lot of BS, but this album certainly lacks the soul of my personal favorites, the Moon and the Lonesome, even know one's 1st is above this album on my list. I consider myself a self proclaimed Modest Mouse fanatic and have been for many years

  23. l.... ....

    AWH HAAAWH

  24. I.... H....

    Modest Mouse's worst song

    I.... H....

    @J H.L Lol, it's so bad it's good

    I.... H....

this is actually my favorite song by them in a long time, probably cause it sounds so much like Ween lol

    I.... H....

*Thinks of One Chance and I've got it all (Most).* Nah.

    I.... H....

@MauriceIsNot MyName I think those songs are great! Same wirh this song. Altough, you are entitled to your own opinion, I'd have to disagree.

    I.... H....

    @Ash Lynne Dat's Ok.

  25. B.... H....

"😒This song ruins the flow of the album" shut the fuck up and get over your pretentious self.

  26. H.... V....

    Get your funk on people!!!!

  27. M.... B....

You don't understand how good this song is until you experience it live. Spectacular and sexy performance

    M.... B....

+Mariam Bissett Saw it at the paramount XD

  28. g.... ....

I can totally understand why the purist Modest Mouse fans may "hate" this particular track, beckoning for them to go back to making songs like they did on Lonesome Crowded West, Long Drive, etc., but I was pleasantly surprised in a strange way when I first heard it. Yes, it certainly sounds "out of place" with the rest of the songs on Strangers To Ourselves, but it was nice to hear Isaac and the crew experimenting with a radically new sound for once, for better or worse. But I still enjoy listening to it every now and then. Sounds almost like NIN meets Modest Mouse, which is totally fine by me.

    g.... ....

I just like the fat bass. It's groovy.

    g.... ....

Listen to The Pod by Ween, if you like this humor and vibe. Listen to Tender Situation Live and L.M.L.Y.P. too.

    g.... ....

Ween literally has hundreds of fantastic songs that never even made it onto an album that are better than some of my favorite bands most adored songs.

    g.... ....

I'm a long time MM fan. I didn't like it at first because it didn't sound like what I expected from MM. But it definitely grew on me.

  29. g.... ....

    reminds me of ween.....

  30. D.... G....

'Twas very strange to be jamming to the a playlist when this came on ._.

  31. J.... ....

I love this song because I love how much everyone hates it.

  32. P.... D....

If you ain't ridin' dirty or you've never packed a bag of clothes for work tomorrow so "They won't know" then this just isn't for you.

For those of us that can relate, we've wanted this song for a long time!

  33. A.... S....

    Sounds like a Ween song

    A.... S....

andrew weiss co-produced this album and worked on a lot of ween records

  34. P.... D....

This is the best song they've ever recorded.

Makes my body wriggle and writhe and my brain scream.

    UH HUH!

  35. C.... H....

I'm a diehard MM fan. The first time I listened to Pistol, my jaw dropped and I wanted to know what kind of garbage I was listening to. It grew on me though and I actually really like this song a lot, it has a funk and groove to it that makes it fun to get down to at parties. I agree with Josh Ward and that it's not to be taken too seriously. I feel like it's a heavier more powerful All Night Diner.

    C.... H....

    Cory Hika same

  36. C.... I....

I don't like this but i have to listen to it.
Brock is learning how to mind control guys.

  37. J.... W....

I don't think it's meant to be taken so seriously. It's fun and funky. One of my favorites from the album.

    J.... W....

@Josh Ward I think it's meant to be serious, because if you've heard any of the lyrics from their live performances before the actual recording was made, you can tell there's a level of seriousness. Some of the live lyrics were really raw.

    J.... W....

    @Darrell Myers like what?

    J.... W....

@Peter Brennan Well if memory serves correct, I've heard lines like "I'm gonna have it any way that I want." not much to go on, but considering whether this song is serious or not is something to think about

    J.... W....

+Darrell Myers could you link me to a performance of those old lyrics cause all the ones i find are poor quality. its be very much appreciated

  38. l.... ....

this is the sexiest song of 2015... it's got a down-low groove, it's funky, it's sassy... all the people hating on this song need to go find that chromosome they're obviously missing.

  39. K.... B....

This track was produced by Andrew Weiss and sounds like straight up old school Ween. Easily the best track EVER for Modest Mouse

  40. S.... G....

this song is good! the hook reminds me of that duck sauce track lol

  41. B.... T....

There's always a few MM songs I skip, even on their best albums. I never likes Shit Luck, either, off lonesome crowded west. Awesome bad, not the best song.

    B.... T....

    @Brandon Thorpe Sucker Bet? lol

  42. I.... M....

This song is so out-of-place for Modest Mouse in general lol

    I.... M....

@IA MERROR That's what makes it true to Modest Mouse.  They're always experimenting and trying out new sounds.  It'd be boring otherwise.

    I.... M....

    True story!

    I.... M....

@IA MERROR This album was more experimental than most of their other work.

    I.... M....

    @assdan27 Good point!

    I.... M....

    @***** Ah-huh, Ah-huh.

  43. L.... G....

This sounds like a dubstep remix of tiny cities made of ashes, not a fan of this one.

  44. P.... S....

This is the best song on the album tbh you scrubs

    P.... S....

    Pizza Squirtle Sugar Boats?

  45. G.... ....

Not 100% sure why, but the way it just seems to differ from everything on the album kind of reminds me of "tiny cities made of ashes" not that it has the same sort of meaning by a long shot, just that it's that odd to me. I love this song though, and I love Tiny cities too.

    G.... ....

@Christopher Nedoroscik I think it's like Tiny Cities, in the fact that you can't quite tell whether or not you fucking hate it or adore it.

    G.... ....

@That One Guy's Irregularly Long Username That's about spot on! Pistol, and Tiny cities can be great, or can suck I think it all depends on the mood I'm in, at least I think it does. Modest mouse is great because they can make songs that do that.

  46. S.... ....

So different from their normal sound.

  47. C.... T....

The worst song on the album imo.

    C.... T....

@Jim Lahey When a shit apple falls from a tree and grows up in a field of shit, it doesn't have any choice, just like this song. It grew up to be a shit apple tree...

    C.... T....

@XScorpiiusX protip: spend your time commenting on a video you actually like. your efforts are wasted here. bye

    C.... T....

It is not bad, just not on par. It sounds too electronic for me.
