Modern Baseball - Phone Tag Lyrics
Don't call me now, I am in bed
I've sacrificed all chances for street cred
As a result of sticking near
The same bedtime for thirteen years
But you know this, I've said it before
Lots of things you kind of ignored
You brushed it off, you always brushed it off
Pacing down the hallway stairs
Mental notes of quick repairs
To gaps in my story for tomorrow morning
Of why I was up at this hour
When I have children of my own
And they have children of their own
I'll spit and spew of my dumbass high school endeavors
And when my freezing lower limbs
Approached that sly, grinning little shit
I knew the truth in every vowel sound
That I had admitted just two nights before
Goodbye was not an option
It's clear to you
But to no one was it clearer than to me
Since day one, I've been locked in
I'm not fucking hanging up
I told you I loved you at eighteen
But now you're in New York and I'm pushing twenty
We still talk
But only when you call me first
Some days I hear it ring
Most days I stay in bed
Maybe I'll see you when I get home
And we'll avoid all the things we've said

every day i question if i really know you, but it's okay because i love you.
los amo
This is a beautiful piece of internet goodness, beautiful music contributing to a righteous cause. I love it.
Why isn't this on Spotify???
I quote a lot of the lyrics from this song occasionally, but only until recently have I really felt how Jake must have felt upon singing "Goodbye was not an option, it's clear to you but to no one is it clearer than to me, I'm not fucking hanging up" literally those words have hit me so fucking hard recently, and I finally understand how he feels.
Why isnt this mobo song on spotify -.- ...... ;-;
Marissa Martinez look up “its cold out here”. Same song redone and full band.
pls put this on spotfily
On a drunken night, i feel sad and in love with someone that I do know and I will always miss them
Dang this is still sad.
Y’all are wrong.
This is why they changed the ending of “Its cold out here”
“I think the biggest mistake we’ve ever made as a band—and Jake still thinks about it all the time—is releasing “It’s Cold Out Here,” says Lukens, referencing an early song where Ewald describes himself as a “bitch.”
From a mobo interview on pitchfork
Who's listening in 2018 🤙

Why do the people who are supposed to be in your life just disappear without a trace?
Because, in fact, no one is supposed to be in yours lives. It's not a certain and, acctually, not an obligation. It is just a choice.
almost 2018 and still love this
This is the best version
"Now you're in New York, and I'm pushing twenty" ... the feeeeeels

@Christian Babin Thank you so much!
OMG I love this
this makes me miss someone i never dated
tara w this is too real
never had a girlfriend and this song made me cry about how she's moved on from me
Sounds like a rehashing of the top comme t
honestly modern baseball never fails
This band really held me together in my break-up.
Thank you Modern Baseball ♥️
doesn't anyone get that this is like a sequel to its cold out here? that is why the lyrics are different. it's not one versus the other, you can't compare which one is "better." They both work together to tell the story of their relationship and how it has progressed and burnt out. man I love this band.
Sara Stalder I'm pretty sure this is just a different version of the song. Artists often do this and release the other versions on side albums or b-sides. It's Cold Out Here is the official release version and this is just a different take.
MrMoustache Totally, in a track by track interview they did they even said they wanted to contribute a love song to this album but didn't really have anything in the works' so they revisited this. i think that when "revisiting" the song for this version the lyrics were very intentionally changed to match where that relationship that was originally sang about is now. they are both great songs that work together side by side, so I was just frustrated that people though that the video was titled wrong and was annoyed that they were comparing.
Creeping Death yes! when I was first listening to that album, I was listening a lot while working so I wasn't really paying attention to track names and stuff. I didn't realize for a while that those were actually two differently named songs. another beautiful pairing of songs that work so well together
Chris Topher lol I can't tell if you are being sarcastic haha
This is the original version that Brendan and Jake did together in possibly high school when MB first picked up. Then they added Sean and Ian to make "It's cold out here"

@OrangeJuliusSucks agree
if anyone is confused this is the original "it's cold out there". they changed the ending and added the full band. this Version is better imo.
Nah fam It's Cold Out Here turned into this
Imo if it really did turn into this, it's that much more sad noticing how the ending changed
@angel long this came first
lol @ the dislikes
I love the cool, mellow, gentleness of it all. great song to fall asleep to.
i feel sad and in love with someone i dont know

Anyone know a half decent tab for this?
It's in drop c#, verses are based around a c# power chord... betch can figure it out from there!
+Zane Fowler Can you post a tab?
Leeah Brown any update?
I learned this pretty easy by watching jake and bren play it acoustically its on youtube somewhere. It is based around a D, E, and A. There is a few other chords but yeah
does anyone know the chords?
@zetra @DefeatedSky
If you put a capo on 1, the chords are a combination of the following
Cadd9, Em7, D, G
If you listen closely you can figure it out.
This song became "It's cold out here"
Other way around.
Jonathan Perez no
I want that picture on the screen as a patch
@slothells
What similarities do you see?
These guys do some of the coziest stuff. I love it! I could just roll around in bed all day to this. =3
leC0rbusier It’s like getting a warm hug

This is called It's Cold Out Here

+Griffin Wollowitz Totally agree I think the kind of dimmed out the meaning of the song
