I think it was more about the attitude and the way bands presented themselves. A lot of influential punk bands didn't have great musicians technically, but the message they carried through their music was much more important.

the Misfits started that punk "lifestyle" by making punk mainstream! They're all show, it's not about how they played

because black flag is one of my favorite bands, and to me it's just sad that all most people seem to care about is their earlier work. honestly i think "damaged" sucks and is the worst piece of their discography, and this song is by far the worst on "damaged". the misfits are another one of my favorite bands, and it's cool to pay homage to another band but quite frankly, this just doesn't work for their style. it's just an opinion.

I was 17 at the time and on the stage with all the other guys. This is the Channel in South Boston, long since bulldozed. Some of you debate far to much into the quality or importance of this band or this performance. This was just about being young and totally going off with no rules. We would street skate all day, go to all ages shows and have just go crazy for the fun of it. No politics, no bullshit. It just felt good to be young and tear it up.

The Misfits have Robo on drums and Dez Cadena on guitar... who are from Black Flag! I love both bands. Misfits with Danzig were amazing. This vid doesn't do them justice.
