I think that this songs goes about Ian and the band, the differences between the members and him, and how many times he fought to do what he thought was right.
Any other interpretation?

For me, it reminds me of when I was a teenager in rehab and had to leave all of my old friends behind to start a new life. It's definitely about friendship and loss though, so I'm sure it can be applied to many similar situations. Your interpretation makes more sense within the biographical context. Great song.

EASILY, one of the best Minor Threat songs... EVER! !!!SEMICOLON!!! I can't think of a punk rock song from my youth that better encapsulated everything. Here I am now, looking back and laughing. People say that hardcore died in '86, but the feeling will never die. If I ever have kids... this is what I'm going to play them when they go to high school.

I'm not a fan of the labeling system of Straight-edge, but I will say after 4 years of college (graduating in 3 weeks) I have had it with drinking and drugging. I wish I could say I do not see anything wrong with consuming substances and chemicals, but after 8 years of drinking and 3 years of pot, I do. Maybe one day I will look back and laugh, but right now I'm disgusted by it. There's a better, healthier way to live.
