Milsap, Ronnie - Carolina Dreams Lyrics

I can smell the pines, sweet Carolina's on my mind
I still feel that mountain breeze, whisperin' through the trees
Tears fell from her eyes, I held her as we said goodbye
She knew I didn't want to go but here I am tonight alone.

Dreaming Carolina dreams in Tennessee
And someday soon I'll have her here with me
Until then she knows I miss her and tonight I'll go to sleep
Dreaming Carolina dreams in Tennessee.

The cotton mill shut down, they laid off folks for miles around
I had to leave to find some work, the hardest part was leaving her
Nashville Tennessee, it'd be beautiful if she was with me
But alone it's just another place till I close my eyes and see her face.

I'm dreaming Carolina dreams in Tennessee
And someday soon I'll have her here with me
Until then she knows I miss her and tonight I'll go to sleep
Dreaming Carolina dreams in Tennessee.

Though we're miles apart we're sharing the same moon
When it's shining on her it's shining on me too.

I'm dreaming Carolina dreams in Tennessee
And someday soon I'll have her here with me
I'm dreaming Carolina dreams
Carolina dreams, Carolina dreams...

This is my favorite song on that album but there were alot of great songs on that album. Personally, I don't think there was one bad song on it. Who's Counting is my second favorite on it and It's just a Room, number 3.

Cheryl Smith this is an album that blows me away—so many greats. Love Who’s Counting, which was no hit.

The "B" side to Ronnie Milsap's #1 hit, Inside. I saw Ronnie Milsap on April 30, 1987, at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia. He and T. Graham Brown opened for Kenny Rogers.

I was program / music director at a country station back when this was out. we would record our 45 singles on carts (tapes that looked like an 8 track tape). I put both Inside and Carolina Dreams on carts and gave the equal rotation on our playlist. This was the better of the two songs to me.

Used to hear this all the time....one of Ronnie's best

This song on its own would have at least went Top 10 if not #1. But this was back when two-sided singles were much more commonplace.

  6. C.... ....

I remember hearing this song back in 1982 ...they used to play it on WDSY in Pittsburgh. I could never understand why they put this on the "B" side of the single "Inside" This song with have surely been a #1 song on it's own.

    From a Carolina Girl....love it..!

Should have been released as an A side instead of being the B side of another great song.

  10. C.... H....

"Carolina Dreams" was the B-side to Ronnie's February 1983 number one single "Inside". Great song, but one never played. It wasn't really played that much on the radio 29 years ago, sadly...
