Miller, Roger - Loving Her Was Easier Lyrics

I have seen the morning burning golden on the mountain in the skies
Aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies

Turning on the world the way she smiled upon my soul as I lay dying
Healing as the colours in the sunshine and the shadows of her eyes

Waking in the morning to the feeling of her fingers on my skin
Wiping out the traces of the people and places that I've been

Teaching me that yesterday was something that I never thought of tring
Talking of tomorrow and the money, love and time we had to spend
Loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again
Coming close together with a feeling that I've never known before

In my time

She ain't ashamed to be a woman or afraid to be a friend
And I don't know the answer to the easy way she opened every door

In my mind

But dreaming was as easy as believing it was never gonna end
And loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again

Also like Roger Miller's songs from 1973 ; " I Believe In The Sunshine " and " Open Up Your Heart " both nice happy songs !

  2. R.... B....

One of my favorites by him! It's been a long time since I heard it!

  3. K.... T....

This is great but I think Waylon’s version is the best rendition.

    K.... T....

Listen to tompal glasses and the glaser brothers version.

    K.... T....

scott cunningham I’m aware of their version but it doesn’t have the emotion that Waylon’s does.

  4. p.... r....

Bought up with this music in the 70s still love it Over 40 years later Roger is a legend pure genius a funny talented and all round lovely human being still so sadly missed 🇬🇧

  5. M.... C....

Classic song, great lyrics, wonderful version by Roger, 😍 love!!!

  6. L.... N....

I first heard this Kristofferson song as sung by Roger Miller in Vietnam early 1971 or late 1970.  Best version and it all ways brings back memories of the guy just sitting around listing to the arm forces radio ever chance we got.

  7. B.... C....

Rey good..... it willie and Dylan cannon did this in a movie. Unbelievable chemistry.!

  8. P.... H....

Good, but cant hold a candle to this song done by Tompall and the Glasser Brothers

    P.... H....

Yep, that's the version I fell in love with. The Glasers were back up singers for the great Marty Robbins on his El Paso album.

  9. D.... E....

Just as good as Gordon Lightfoots version

  10. L.... T....

Thanks to Kris Kristofferson for the song, and thanks to Roger Miller for the performance.

  11. m.... s....

Should have been number 1 hit ! Smooth and mellow, sung by the late Roger Miller ! So well written by Kris Kristoffersen .🎤🎻 🎻 🎻 🎹 🎸🎵

"Here's a song Roger Miller learned from a Waylon Jennings album. Kris Kristofferson learned it from a Roger Miller Waylon Jennings album."

Was the flip side of this single Roger's original version of Qua La Linta? If so, is there any chance of you posting it?

  27. j.... ....

Thank you, Va Hoss, for sharing this excellent rendition of the song. Roger is one of country music's greats, and we lost him much too soon.

    j.... ....

love this song and what a great rendition of this by Roger

  31. A.... B....

The story I heard was that Kris Kristofferson parachuted into the swimming pool in Roger's backyard to give him a couple of songs to help revive his career, this being one and Bobby McGee the other.  Thanks, Kris!  Roger did both justice.

    A.... B....

@Marji Martin lol---parachuted??? KK was an Army Reserve helicopter pilot. he landed one in the yard---lol...

    A.... B....

@caciowa-wrong!!! I did not parachute it was KK - like Alan said. Get your facts straight - !!!

    A.... B....

@caciowaYou did not read it correctly. KK was parachuted in by helicopter with a song he wanted Johnnie Cash to sing. KK was trying to make it in Nashville . leave it alone please!

    A.... B....

@Marji Martin you CAN read, right? here is the KK quote at the end of the story where he says he would hevae never been drinking while flying a copter, DUH...
"I think he told the story that I got out the helicopter with a beer in one hand and a tape in the other. But he wasn't even in the house. And I never would have been drinking while flying a helicopter."
and i can quote other sources that will tell you the same thing. i will not leave an untruth alone. period.
from Wiki - "Weeks after giving June his tapes, Kristofferson landed a helicopter in Cash's front yard, gaining his full attention.[21] [Note: In a later interview, Kristofferson maintained Cash was not at home when he landed the helicopter. The story about Kristofferson having a beer in one hand and some songs in the other is a fable.] Cash decided to record "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down" and that year Kristofferson won Songwriter of the Year at the Country Music Awards."

and i can quote many more. have you ever used Google? it works when you want to learn the truth about something....

  32. b.... ....

Beautiful rendition of a great song.

  33. B.... D....

Amen to what Jim Southern said. Also great post thanks HOSS great sound

    B.... D....

  34. J.... S....

The novelty records got Roger the stardom he deserved, but this is really Roger at his best.  Truly he was one of the great personalities in country music.

    J.... S....

This was actually written by Kris Kristofferson.
Roger did write a lot of great songs about love and life. Lock, Stock and Teardrops is probably my favorite but Sorry, Willy and In the Summertime are great as well.

    J.... S....

Jim Southern Yes, this and Husbands and Wives. Epic.
