This song (the final track in the "Off the Wall" album) was THE perfect signing-off of the Disco Era! Of course, I do wish that that era could have lasted at least a bit longer (at least into the early 1980s). Especially since MTV would have been the PERFECT channel for showcasing disco acts!


Which reminds me: in one scene of "Airplane!", we saw a radio tower and heard some background disco-type music as the station's DJ announced, "WZAZ in Chicago, where disco lives forever!" Still don't get why Thriller and Bad sold more than Off the Wall. Off the Wall was MJ's best album. Invincible was ok , Dangerous was good.

John, The answer is simple. This was MJ doing R&B. He didn't win many awards for Off the Wall so, he decided to Crossover and add a Pop feel to Thriller,.Bad and Dangerous. Mainstream America wasn't feeling R&B winning awards back then. Adding Eddie Van Halen and Paul MaCartney to his music made White America take off with it. Not to mention the Group dancing videos! Thrn after Thriller. Bad followed with Guns and Roses lead gutarist and more group dancing videos while Dangerous followed up with World caring songs along with dancing videos. Michael gave America his pure self and it wasn't good enough to garnish awards, so he took it there...and Won Big! All Time Big!!
