Wow, such an emotional video and song! I must say, it is so wise and bold to have absolutely nothing of value here and only the most pandering, easy visuals and lyrics possible. Seriously think about it; what does this song have to say? Love is good, people are good, and we just need to get along. Wow, that's never been said before. This is something you are taught in Sunday school as a three year old; there is nothing of value here. Hey, let's get someone afflicted with cancer to be in the video, because cancer is bad and if we force the word love enough times with the image, it's deep and emotional. Hey, let's put in gay couples because homophobia is bad. Hey, let's put in people with down syndrome because I actually like them and they need love to. These are the most basic understandings of humanity and nothing is being challenged, no philosophies are being explored, and horrible issues are being brought down to side lyrics in the bombardment of "love". When you have to shrink the costs of racism and war to make the only sentiment of "love is good", then there is nothing of value to be found. You aren't discovering something new because your understandings of hardships are being reduced. This is probably one of the worst things I have ever seen or heard.

I had to chuckle to myself when I saw the thumbs down people. Who in the world would "thumbs down" this video? SMH.

Some people, like yourself I assume, can take the message of "love one another, stop this hate" without much more. Yet, others like myself, see this as nothing more than a hallow, utterly dismal song that shows nothing to me. Nothing is being explored or challenged, and if you say, "Our love is being challenged" I'd love to know how this is. This portrays hardships and trials through vague lyrics, discussing thing like cancer, war, and financial troubles. The fogginess of these horrible things makes the message of "love will find a way" much more believable because the true nature and hardships of the horrors of this world are vague, leaving that message to seem realistic.

As a child, many of us will accept the simple solutions to hard things because we don't understand them as well yet. The solution to violence being "some people are just crazy" can sustain many of us at this age. But as we mature, our minds open up to see the intricacies of the atrocities in this world and these solutions need to be as complex as those problems. That's why putting aside the complex nightmares that haunt society in favor of vague, scary concepts, is childish to me.

My step-father has cancer, and day in and day out I hear his coughs, watch him drain fluid from his lungs, and hear his moans from the pain. Do you know how much I want a simple solution to this? I'd love to accept the concept that love would find a way and he would be healed, but it's probably not going to happen. I might marry, have children, and become successful in a world without him. This song offers not a glint of solace for me; it's a vague, pathetic attempt at something meaningful.

I'm not sure if I was totally convincing but, i saw some relief in their eyes that life "as we know it hasn't ended" that they are safe and that we are not giving up on what we believe in... I had to have my own "peep" talk with myself and with the help of Michael Franti and Spearhead. I will move forward with love in my heart, passion in my action and conviction toward what I believe in.
