This album gives nostalgia. I was bumping this album while playing Gears of War 2, when this album dropped.

You cant deny that the 5 first albums are way beyond epic . Metallica Always evolves , progressing and taking other musicall influences in their sound . And then they make a album like this ( which is good ) but not good enough for Metallica in opinion of the mayor .

Metallica should definitely remix and re-release Death Magnetic as a double album, incorporating the songs from Beyond Magnetic. It would just be fantastic. This is my list of the 14 songs in the order that I consider the best.

If That Was Just your life, The Day That Never Comes, All Nightmare Long, Cyanide and The End of the Line were at the first four albuns they would be loved and considered Masterpieces for the old fans who hate them. No doubts about it.

This album is better than hardwired IMHO. You have beasts like this song, all nightmare long, my apocalypse and the day that never comes. I find moth into flame and spit out the bone awesome but the rest of the album sounds forced.

This song is really good actually but i just hate the drum production (same with st. anger, lulu, and hardwired), loud as hell, shitty snare turnings, and super inaudible bass drums, The symbols also have no definition. This has been the state of Metallica drum production for a while now and I hope they (Lars) moves to a more modern style of drum production. I've listened to a re-drummed track of this song and it sounds way better, the snare doesn't sound dead, the kicks are loud as hell (which is a good thing because you want high bass presence in the mix) as well as the rest of the drumming vol lower, and the symbols don't just sound like random cracks in my ears. Same with the tone the have been using for a while now, too many mids with no balls, not enough gain (and im not saying crank up the gain to 11 on the pre amps, pedals, and cabinets so it sounds like mud). Just my opinion to give this band more modern and beefy production value, as well as better production value.

Yes, Death Magnetic is better than St. Anger. I do like a couple songs off SA. Like Frantic & St. Anger. But EVERY Song on this album is bad ass. & USUALLY, If a band/singer makes a "Bad" album, they DON'T Come Back from it. Just the way it is. So the fact that they Did this, is a Huge example of their Sheer Badassness.

I was a lifelong Metallica fan and when they came out with load I was on board with that. I really enjoyed that album. When reload came out it wasn't so great still some good songs on there. When Saint anger came out I don't even think I listen to a full song off of that album. It was just awful I couldn't get past the snare drum. But when they came out with this album they really redeem themselves and I think it was the best album since and justice for all which was actually my favorite album.

My number one favorite album of all time. Seriously, it's my humble opinion that it is the best album I've ever owned, and I've been collecting vinyl for 40 years. To each their own, I guess, but if I had to choose just ONE record to listen to for the rest of my life, this is the one.


To me, it put Metallica back on the map. I think it's the most cohesive, most riff-tastic, most in-your-face, most... Metal album they, or anyone else for that matter, have ever made. There were some good songs here and there since Justice, sure. Same goes with most of their work since. Say what you want about the band members (I remember seeing the bassist with Mike Muir back in the day up in LA; the drummer seems to be very full of himself; James is definitely down to earth, like literally!), but this album-- Death Magnetic- it's just the best goddamn metal album out there to me.
