Been a fan following these guys since 83' and in 2019 I just can't go any further. Load was the last I bought and by that time they just outgrew their own style and method. Love them all but it's no longer the Edge, it's too polished and rounded.

To be honest, I am glad they released St. Anger. After Cliff's death the entire band started to slowly descend into existential crisis. That along with James running away from his personal issues and the mistreatment of Jason were gradually creating tensions within Metallica for years. It was only a question of time when they were going to be forced to face themselves and learn to deal with their problems like adults. The entire music industry landscape was rapidly changing in early 2000's, and that's when their crisis finally peaked. You can clearly hear it on the record. They needed to get that album out of their system in order to move on, and that's why I respect it. It's just pure fucking emotion.
